  1. http://www.trophyridge.com/broadheads none of their meat seakers broadheads are barbed, bottom of the description paragraph on each
  2. i personally dont use any scent at all and have had no problems I just dump alot of scent blocker on. I use the scent blocker deorderant, clothing wash, 99% spray on everything I wear plus I have a mouth spray for my breath. In the past I have tried vanilla extract and that seemed to make the deer courious about the smell. I put it on the ground to keep their head down when they were in my area
  3. Fixed Muzzy are great. Ive also have had good experience with NAP spitfires . 2 of my hunting friends swear by different mechanical one loves grim reapers and the other loves meat seakers
  4. I plan on purchasing a lifetime license for my son. right now he is only 6 months old. But if he gets into hunting it will payy off big time for him. I would probably get the lifetime super sportsmen. and hey if he doesnt like hunting then Ill have him sign over the tags to his old man.. if they allow that
  5. haha i love that!! I was eating cereal believe it or not while reading this and just spit milk all over my screen. That was funny yet SSSOOOO true
  6. yea make sure they are the same grain weight and adjust the sights for the broadheads. If thats what type of broadhead he is going to use then he should make sure the bow is sighted in for those heads. Every broadhead flies differently and should be tweaked as needed.
  7. I think he made his point that he has a disability thus not being able to use a bow. So the use of a crossbow makes him and his father able to hunt again, rather then just give up hunting all together.....
  8. I just made it easy and got a camper that hooks up to a truck. has living space bathroom with shower running water electric and full functining kitchen I think we paid about $8k I put it on our 20 acre hunting property in 3J. We took out the queen size bed and build 2 bunk beds for 4 and the pull out counch sleeps 1 and the kitchen table folds down and turns into a small couch also sleeps 1.
  9. why cant you use the mechanicals on your compound? the difference for the mechanicals for crossbows are that SUPPOSEDLY since the crossbow companies claim the crossbows have more thrust than compound the mechanicals will or can open up during flight. they made the crossbow mechanicals that the manufacturer i guess just made the blades harder to open.during flight and only on contact. as far as Fixed broadheads I dont see any reason why I cant use regular muzzy or anyother brand for that matter on the xbow.I just figured why not try something new.
  10. I graduated high school in 2003 9 years later and so much change
  11. lol no that is true. I think part of the problem is the kids now are getting too many right and they know it. Parents dont like to hear from the school that their kid is doing something wrong and they fight it even thou it was all recorded on camera. once they see the video they turn the blame to another kid or teachers. there is no consequences for their actions from the admins either. admins I feel are way more passive then when I was in school
  12. yikes I had one of those once... and I got it during hunting season a few years back. It wasnt bad but the Doc wanted to get it taken care of like the next week and it was only the 2nd week of the season. I told him I am not willing to have the hernia fixed until after I get my deer. As a fellow hunter he understood but insisted that it needs to be taken care of before it gets worse. I told him thank you for looking out for me but Ill call and make an appointment when Im ready. a week later I called and scheduled my appointment after I got my deer. He laughed at me and said he would have done the same.. really cool guy, older, he passed away the next year
  13. I work as a custodian at a local High School and Im in the cafeteria during lunch and I see this young man with 2 good looking females all over him pinching and tickleing him i guess.. All of a sudden he starts Yelling at the top of his lungs RAPE RAPE help RAPE!!!! and then runs away..... When I was in high school and the ladies did something like that to me I would have capitalized on the situation later on that night if you know what I mean. Maybe he is one of them homosexuals..... idk I dont have anything thing against them to each is own
  14. my problem is that I cant boil the squirrel I need to be able to take the meat off the bone while in the field and put into a baggy. My wife doesnt mind me hunting but she doesnt like the smell or though of a wild animal being cooked in the kitchen. I can get away with the deer meat but just by a hair. I think I will just dejoint them like stated in a earlier post arms , legs and serloin/backstraps. thanks for the Cooking recipes Iwill be using afew of them
  15. So I got my first squirrel today and he was a nice big fat male. (no pics sorry) I wanted to mainly try the meat for the first time. I feel there was a good amount of meat on him but could not figure out the best way to get the meat off the bone. I was able to get a few big chunks cut off but I think I wasted a lot that could have been good eaten. Any tips out there?
  16. Right on man I did the same I enjoyed my bow. I bought it, used it for practice and never started hunting with it until 4 years later when I got into hunting I did the same didnt have time to practice or I would take a few shots here and there hit kill shots everytime on the 3D deer then go out and hunt.Ive only got one kill with the bow and Im not proud of how. picked up the bow pulled back on a buck and released and pulled the shot high and to the right slitting his throat. took me 3 hours of crawling through the thicket to only find him 50 yards away with no energy to move and still breathing. put another arrow into his heart to end the suffering.. after that I swore that I would not do that again. so I sold all my bow equipment and stuck with my shotgun. Since crossbow was leagalized I picked one of those up this year will be the first season for me to use it I have been practicing with the crossbow. although not as much time is needed compared to the bow.. Eventually I would like to get another bow, BUT I want to be in a better situation where I can take the time to REALLY practice and make ethical kills and not have my nerves screw up the shot. Sorry if this pisses anyone off, but at least I can admit my faults and learn from them
  17. This debate was in a earlier thread and was a hot topic for some time and turned into people crying because they have to wear Blaze while bow hunting. HOWEVER, I am on the fence for youth hunt. I see the SAFETY issues that can be of some concern and I am all for new hunters learning.... also I agree with other posts At some point in our lives everyone on this website learned to hunt in either bow, MZ or regular season. and from there became addicted to hunting. Why cant it continue that way.....
  18. well if they can change the status at any time then I will do some research before I move in the future I dont want my CCP to disappear
  19. wish we knew if they were any good however 12 for $17 and change?!?!?! cant be that good. or maybe who knows rages sell for 3 for $30 and rage is supposedly one of the top brands
  20. I stumbled over these new fixed 3 blade broadheads at the local walmart and decided to give them a try this year. Muzzy Crosskill 125 grain 3 blade fixed. with trocar tip. I like muzzy when I had my bow so I figured these wouldnt be far off. same cutting diameter as normal muzzy 1 3/16" same weight just a more compact design for crossbows. I payed $34.99 a bit muich in my opinion since the same heads meant for bow were right next to it selling for $17.99 but why not give them a try. I will also be trying out NAP spitfire 125 grain for crossbow Anyone have opinions on either broadhead??? There are no reviews for the crosskills yet
  21. agreed with all of the above. they are what they eat. and as far as prepping the meat, same concept with deer. if you like it better seasoned and or marinade then do that. I personally like my steaks with their natural flavor. I like the gamey taste others dont
  22. I have a .20 cal pellet gun and have thought about bringing it there many times after hours, but god forbid someone sees me. All they see is a rifle and a school. then thats it for me. no job no hunting license no CCP. Ill get free room and board in Pound town(prision)
  23. So I work at a private school (non-municipality) and as I do my daily duties I continue to feel liike I am being harassed everytime I go outside or near a window. Im sure everyone has had this happen to them while deer hunting in the woods in the am and your sitting there and a gang of tree rats are all around you barking and yelling at you.... Well, this is the exact situation I am in. There are many nut trees on the property and there are dozens of squirrels jumping from limb to limb and running through the grass on the ground barking and taunting me everytime they get a chance. Its as if they know I normally wouldnt hesistate to shoot one but cant because they are on school property about 30 yards from the building.. Same goes for when I go to the administration building a few miles down the road. Deer all over the place. They know they are safe because they live on a protected animal sanctuary... I need to leave this place before I go postal on the tree rats and deer.....aparently they have never heard of the anti-bullying campaigns
