  1. to each is own. I own a couple of spikes myself
  2. I have in my fanny pack. tags scent blocker breath spray flashlight knife with gut hook bleat can rattle bag digital camera hand warmers, cough suppressant tablets extra head gear my light weight beanie with attached face mask for cool days and a full head and face fleece for those extra bitter cold days That is all I can remember as of right now
  3. the zip ties are for the tags when you harvest a deer. Most use zip ties I keep a stapler in my SUV and staple the tags onto the ear
  4. The VP does not hunt anymore. I spoke with him last night and he was telling me he saw a 19 point on the VP's property.... i dont believe that . although possible I tend to lean towards Bullsh** ive been hunting almost 9 years and havnt seen one with that many points. It can happen, but I know the neighbors bordering the land he saw that buck are big hunters. Im sure one of them would have killed him in the past years if he did exist. When I asked him after you shoot the buck are you gonna get off the porch and drag the deer out? He said No ill drive Ed's Jeep in and get it out that way. Growalot your right I probably will grin in the end. I cant wait for if he does get a deer for him to cut the stomach the first time he guts one. Thinking about him possibly throwing up makes me happy.
  5. I bet if you took you face mask off while she was yelling she would have changed her tune real quick once her realized who she was yelling at
  6. I just cant wait until I leave this place of business and dont have to see his face everyday. just thinking about him aggravates me.
  7. So my Immediate supervisor at work just decided to get into hunting. Which is a good thing for the sport to add another hunter. However. He received this 30-06 rifle from his father in law, never shot a rifle before, and plans on just going to a store buying ammo and going hunting with it without shooting it first or sighting it in for him. I then asked well where are you going to hunt. he replied at ed's house ( Ed is the VP of our Dept.) He then asked me to go with him and teach and show him things. Normally I wouldnt have a problem with this, this way I can teach a newbie the right way and start him on the right foot and doesnt make a bad name for the sport. but We dont talk at all at work as it is because he is full of sh** and thinks he knows everything besides that we just dont get along. I said well, I have plans and I dont know when I would have time to take you into the woods but I can try to work something out. I continued to say, read up on hunting tips and tricks and tactics I can help you find a nice tree to lean against. He then came back and said in these exact words "NO NO my A$$ aint going into the cold woods and sitting in the snow. Im going to use the back porch with a heater next to me with a few beers" I politly said well . Well then No Im not going with you and your not going with me at all. he got all pissed and said y the hell not. I replied because thats not how you really hunt and I dont want any part of being with you with a gun you never shot before.
  8. yeah I was pretty pissed off. Stores that do this are trying to protect their rear ends, I get that.. however at least be knowledgable able the local laws where you have your chain stores and adjust the policies and procedures per location. It you have a store in New Jersey then ask for the firearms ID card if u have a store in NY dont ask to see a permit that dont exist. Gander Mountain doesnt even ask to see my ID when I buy ammo.
  9. this thread is still going on...... I just noticed there is yet another antler restriction thread that begun....
  10. excellant hopefully you will put the bait in his mouth and the hook will set itsself
  11. I was asked at my local walmart. when I purchased .223 ammo for my AR15. the cashier asked if I had a permit and I said no there is no such thing for a rifle. After argueing with cashier then the manager I was refused service and was not allowed to purchase the rifle ammo.... The only Laws in NYS for Ammo purchases are you must be 21 years of ago or older. that goes for rifle and pistol ammo. You do not need a permit to purchase any ammo. This is just the corporate P&P put into place for other states like New Jersey that requires you to have a firearms permit to own any firearm. Rifle and Pistol included. This policy hurts the states where you do not need a permit for rifle.
  12. Last year my wife and I were planning our wedding and honey moon for March. I was involved and did as much as possible to help. As soon as opening day came I gave my credit card to my wife and said do what ever you think you need to do. Ill see you later. lets just say wedding planning was put on hold for a bit because there was way to much for one person to handle
  13. Yes Armato's located in somers their number is 914.232.4772 I believe its $85 for a whole deer plus any special cuts. They say they will have it done in a day and ready for pickup. I always use them when I hunt down that way. They are a butcher and will make special cuts, sausage, ground meat, whatever you want
  14. I made a grilled cheese with my roommates Iron once in college.. It was actually very good. I just dont know why he packed a iron for college. I dont think any of my firends other then him even own an iron. The only other person I know has one is my brother in law and he uses it to apply stickers and vinyl decals onto his snowboard lol

  16. nice im gonna use this one on my facebook
  17. last year during bow season I had a lady pull over and start yelling at me telling me to leave the deer alone. she then started to say I was on private property. I stated "that may be so however there are no Posted signs anywhere therefore making it ok for me to use". She caledl the police and I told her i would wait for them to file a complaint against her for harassment. 20 minutes later the police didnt come so I left. I was not hunting anywhere close to the road however I did shoot a 4 point and was in the process of tracking it and it ran close to the road so she seen me walking through.. The sad part of this story is I came back later on to continue tracking the blood trail and the blood trickled off and eventually stopped completly. I looked for another 1 1/2 for more blood and never picked up the trail again. The spot I go is a honey hole for doe but the only place to park is on the shoulder and I have seen people pull over and look into my SUV and circle around and watching. One guy got out of his truck and tried to open my door. During the winter months I can see through the trees to my car and this day while he tried to open my doors I pushed the panic button on my car setting off the alarm. He took off real quick. I am very hesistant to go to that spot. It depends on how desparate i am for a deer Ill go later in the season as a last resort
  18. lol I would cry as well however if the tags are transferrable then its all good for me
  19. I have not heard of them, but that doesnt mean they arent good. I dont know where you are located but if you are looking at a taxidermy in cold spring then a ride up to Middletown Ny might be worth it. Truelifetaxidermy.com they are a good shop and I have heard many positive things about them. The also have a bunch of taxidermy pieces up on display in the Gander Mountain store in Middletown. That has to say something about their work
  20. I had to trap one once. it was getting my garbage under the deck I got a hav-a-heart trap and got it the first night. the next morning I took an old drop cloth and covered the trap and hauled it down the road a bit. never got sprayed at all
