Scott Walker Stays?
wooffer replied to sits in trees's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Here on LI teachers are some of the biggest offenders when it comes to public pay. Our public schools charge 4 times as much to eduacte a child as a private school does and they do a lousy job at it as well. I pay over $8,000.- a year just in school taxes. -

You guys are missing one more point. Government employees (and teachers) get a raise every year. Even when the newspapers report that the teachers in your district don't get a raise, they get a raise. The annual raise called a "step increase". In our district it is 3.8% every year, no matter what. They can also get an additional raise atop of the step increase. The Federal employees are compensated the same way. The teachers in WI fixed themselves because they are a bunch of greedy fools. They showed the public the caliber of teachers today when they rioted and looted their own state capital building. Don't confuse teachers today with those from before. -

It would be nice if that were true, but the unions have this president in their pocket. -

Both parties are working together and have been for years. They are just not working together for us, ratherto empower themselves. -

That is because the cure is worse than the disease now. We used to have economic downturns but our government didn't try to solve them by printing trillions in worthless dollars and sprinkling them around the country under the guise of a "stimulus". In the past consumers started spending again and as a result factories re-opened and their neighbors got put back to work. Our economy was like a water fountain. Sometimes the pump slowed but the water was always there. Now if we start spending again factories in China will re-open. We won't be putting our neighbors back to work and our economy is more of a "waterfall". With our dollars going off a cliff never to be seen again. -
Local Business comes under State and Union attack
wooffer replied to Culvercreek hunt club's topic in General Chit Chat
That is F**ked up. Leave it to the state to help destroy business. -
I was told that during the demolition of the Huntington Townhouse and the temporary construction of the Lowes that the deer were fleeing the area and heading across Jericho. My wife has seen deer in Oyster Bay cove and our friends have spotted them as far west as Mill Neck.

THE GREAT HEALTH CARE DEBATE..
wooffer replied to sits in trees's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
This guy is just pushing a book and I find much of what he says to be inaccurate or cleverly worded. He says this statement is untrue, RNC’s Political Director, Rick Wiley. It says “49 percent of voters say the health care law has, as of today ‘significantly increased the price of health insurance….’” I agree that the health car law did not directly raise insurance premiums but the actions by Obama to start the whole process moving caused a rapid increase in all of our premiums. I have seen it first hand as an administator at one company I worked for. -

Sounds like you just described Obama not Ted. -

wooffer replied to SteveB's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I disagree, laws are supposed to be promulgated. I don't think Ted is a self appointed spokesman for anyone but himself. I don't disgaree with his words but he doesn't speak for me or any hunter I know. -

Sounds like a rule that could be broken by almost anyone without even knowing it. The law is less than 5 years old, and Nugent, who's hunted in that part of Alaska for years, was unaware of it, Ross said. "There wasn't any blood trail that they could find," Ross said. "There was a little blood apparently at the spot, but nothing that indicated the bear was hard hit." Nugent and his hunting buddies looked for the bear but didn't find it, Ross said. "The bear didn't die. He only took one bear." Doesn't sound like he was trying to get away with anything since he filmed and broadcast his actions. He accepted the consequences of actions and took responsibility. That's a stand up guy. -
He is a cute pooch. Congrats

THE GREAT HEALTH CARE DEBATE..
wooffer replied to sits in trees's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
There is nothing to debate here. The government has no right to force me or anyone else to buy something. If so may people are concerned about the un-insured let them do what americans do best, band together and form a non-profit health insurance company with private funds. -
You should never BUY a dog from a store. You can almost guarantee getting ripped off and getting an ill animal. I would suggest using www.petfinder.com and finding a dog at a shelter that fits your needs. You can find pure breeds at the shelter but if you can't I suggest finding an actual breeder and buying directly from them. As opposed to a dog that came from a puppy mill and is being sold at your local store. Whatever you don't go to the Northshore Animal League, they are a scam. I have used the Town of North Hempstead Animal shelter to adopt my lasttwo dogs. See picture attached. P.S. You can't have a greater companion to your family than a dog.

Here is where our taxes go for Education
wooffer replied to Dave's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I actually attended my BOE budget meeting yesterday. They were so happy that they were able to stay within the tax cap. In fact the first 15 minutes of the meeting consisted of them patting themselves on the back. They seemed too know that is they violated the cap they wouldn't get the 60% vote needed to pass and would be in a real spot. I networked with some other residents and asked some questions, but will keep pushing for a NO vote through my education campaign of the public. -

Just to clarify, I am referring to what she is saying. -
I knew a guy who put "naval jelley" along the back edge of the camera housing. He said it didn't bother the plastic but it would bother a thiefs fingertips when they tried to remove the camera.

wooffer replied to Dave's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Thanks PAV but I'll pursue the grassroots method and educate the public so they can make an eduated "no" vote. I'd rather my children not suffer the wrath of the BOE for my speaking out. One more thing, is this woman typical of the teachers union representation? -

PAV, I haved to assume you are not an English or Math teacher. Since you seem to lack reading compression and you fail to see the math behind why we must stop overpaying teachers for part-time work. Plus the fact you think the Math Regents are harder today than when we took them. You've never looked at the new Regents have you? YES PAV YOU WORK PART-TIME. Let me say it again becuase your union has told you otherwise and you think, YOU WORK A PART-TIME JOB, and get paid well above a full-time salary. Here is an article by the NYT that may help you a bit. Please read it slow and read it twice so you don't miss anything http://www.nytimes.c...&pagewanted=all Trust me, the last thing I am afraid of is confrontation. If I am right (and I am on this one) I will back down to no one. But I will put the safety and well being of my children first. It is clear you have NO experience with the workings of the BOE and the school administrations. I believe you said you are new to teaching so I will give you some slack on that one. Have you ever gone to a BOE meeting? I have and I have spoken there (before I had children). Sadly half the room is stacked with administrators, and your ilk. They are not there to see what they can do for "the kids" but rather to make sure they keep their gilded jobs. So save me the hiding behind the computer bs and debate the facts. -
Take That, Bloomberg!
wooffer replied to Elmo's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Yeh it's always the gun fault. The Suffolk DA recently blamed guns coming from the south. What about the illegals coming from south of the border who commit these crimes. Suffolk county has big MS-13 problem but it is the guns fault.
