What will Obama do when he gets to the part of the Oath of office hightlighted in red. Oath of Office for President US Constitution, Article II, Section 1 "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States." Will he modify it or will he just lie again? I predict he will lie.

I fully expect the government to lie to us. It's the only way they can pursue their agenda. So as long as you remember that most politicians are lieing bastards and the government can control what the media reports to the ungratetfull servants (us), none of this will surprise you any longer. So now we have an assault rifle ban. Lets think like the commie liberal bastards for a moment. With the success on the assault ban, we can now release information that semi auto pistols were the only ones used and start a media campaign to dupe the public into believing .WE HAVE TO BAN PISTOLS NOW!!! This entire thread and all the others that contain analogies of why gun control wont work, etc etc etc is a waste of energy. Gun owners must realize that the liberals do not care about the constitution, the safety of kids or anybody else. They care about money, power and themselves. All this wasted energy would be better spent trying to figure out how we are going to get this useless piece of crap of a governor , out of office before he becomes president. WE have less than 2 years to do it!!!

Ammo in your safe,really safe?
Contender replied to Single_shot's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I would also like to see this in print. I could find nothing other than New york city. I wouldnt find it hard to believe, but have never seen a state law covering how much ammo can be stored. I have 2 years before I can leave this commie state and am not staying a day longer than I have to. I believe I have enough ammo to get me to that point so I will never have to experience the new ammo law these idiots put in place. Lawdwaz, where did u find a brick of .22's??? This stuff flies off the sheves within 2 hours after the truck arrives in the places I have looked.. You have to be there at the exact delivery time. -
Statistics show that 97.3% of people with short arms also have other short body parts. Have any trouble with anything else Fastone? Anyhow, I have no idea what is wrong with your stock other than it is probably too long....

My son and I both got nice does the first week of Bow season. We usually cut them up ourselves but it was warm and and we didnt have the time. We took the first one to Larry's and the second to Steele sausage and catering. Here is my comparison: We received 10lbs more meat back from Steele's from deer that were about the same size. Larry's was $75.00 and Steele's was $70.00 plus tax. So it was the same. Larry's called in 3 day's. Steele's had it done the next day. I had 80lbs of hotdogs, maple sausage, apple, sausage, summer sausage, and slims made at Steeles. I am very pleased with it all. It was all done and ready for pickup in 4 days. I asked Larry to clean up the trimmings to be used in sausage. I had to clean it all up before taking it to Steeles's for sausage. The meat cut's were acceptable from both proccessors. Steele's is a MUCH MUCH cleaner shop and you wont have dogs playing with your harvest. If I find the need to have my deer proccessed in the future I will head to Steele's . He is right around the corner and down the road from Larry's on Marshal rd in Avon. I dont know how either would perform in a busier time but I would choose Steele's over Larry's. That's my .02 and here is a link to Steele's Good luck. http://www.steelesausage.com/

Put a trail cam on the entrance hole and figure out how he/she is avoiding the hardware you have waiting for them. Once a pattern is established , move in for the kill...

Was going to move the ladder stand on the right side of this pic as it has been non prouctive the last couple years. Decided to put the cam on it to see if there was any activity before moving the stand. One hour after I set the camera, this guy came thru. First decent size buck I have seen so far this year and 9 does came thru the next morning at various times. They seem to be milling around at about 11:00 am. Needless to say, the stand is staying where it is. -
Pygmy, You have a partner named "Fungus Face" ?? Made me think of a long departed neighbor at camp. His name was "pecker head" according to my uncle..

For me there are no second chances when it comes to gun safety. The minute I realize a hunting partner is making unsafe moves , I am done. In my opinion, safety in the woods is learned early in a hunting career, it should be deeply ingrained in the hunters mind and it should be automatic , you shouldn’t need to think about it. I doubt very much if an unsafe hunter can be changed. I may be wrong, but I find for my own piece of mind and enjoyment of the hunt, it is best not to stick around to find out. I will not waste my hunting time wondering what this guy is going to do next. In 42 years of hunting, I have gone through a long list of partners. Most have been given many chances in cases of oversleeping, showing up late, wanting to leave early, canceling at the last minute etc. I put up with this kinda stuff for a little while then I move on. In the case of safety, a second chance is just that, a second chance for an accident to happen. That is not for me. I am now a lone wolf, I hunt when I want and how I want and don’t have to wait or change my plans for anyone and most of all, I don’t have to worry about the actions of a partner. It works for me.

I haul my backpack and gun up on a single rope. I have an 18ft rope with a dog chain type clip on both ends. I tie the rope around the backpack loop leaving about 8 inches from the knot to the clip. I run this under the sling and around the barrel/stock and clip it to the rope below the backback knot. This is then a slip knot that tightens around the stock. I lay the gun on the side of the back pack and tie the backpack strap around the stock, under the scope. This keeps the gun at an angle as it is lifted so it is not pointing straight up (AT ME!!) I then (this is very important) clip the other end to the base of my stand. (I forget to do this about 1 of 10 times) I then climb until I feel the wait of the backpack pulling on the stand. I then know I am exactly 18 ft up. OF course , remove the primer and open the action before proceding. Works for me ....Good luck

I am in Livingston county and have hunted all 4 mornings so far. I have been on gobbling birds 3 of the 4 days. Yesterday, the sky's opened up as I was getting out of the truck, I tried to wait it out but decided to bag it and headed home...Rain never did stop. My son came very close to nailing one Sunday but couldnt get a shot. I shot a nice double bearded 2 year old on Monday and today I called in 2 jakes and let them walk. I have not seen or heard a hen yet, not even while scouting...there doesnt appear to be too many hens in my area and that's probably why they are gobbling....Dont know why the gobblers are hanging around but it is ok with me.... I am sure if the weather ever straightens out, things will pick up for everyone. Good luck and be safe.

Apparently , all the hunters that hunted yesterday, went to work today. I had the place to myself and had 4 birds gobbling all around me. They all shut up when they hit the ground . Around 6:15 , a bird started answering me to my right, at 6:30, he was on the ground. 18.3 lbs double beard, 9 inch and 6 inch 5/8" spurs yesterday was a bust with the bird we setup on getting shot above us at 6:15. At 11:00 my son called in a huge tom and he stayed in some thick stuff . No shots. Tomorrow , will be a washout but I hope I can get in a couple hours before the rain starts.

Congrats...nice bird What are them planks in front of the blind??

Finally it is here. I planned to be off all week and may be if the weather is good. Which I doubt. I will hunt every morning but will probably go to work a couple afternoons to save the vacation for later in the season. Just got in from scouting and cant get to my opening day honey hole, it is flooded and would need a boat to get across the creek...I got very wet but have a few spots to setup without crossing the creek...Found some good sign and got one to answer the trusty woodpecker call. My son is coming down at 5 am and we are going to check out one other spot then we will decide where to go early Sunday, over breakfast. I try to hunt an out of the way spot on opening morning so we dont get any company from other hunters. If we dont succeed by 7:30 we will move into spots that others are vacating. This has been very productive in years past , usually between 9-10 oclock. The woods are wide open and I didnt find any bugs. If there are any, the frost tonite will kill them. I hope!!....... I cant believe this weather... Good luck everyone, be safe and shoot straight.

That area is loaded with turkey's and deer. They are there everyday / all day. I see them on the way to work and they are still there on the way back. There are also a bunch on the other side of the road in the field with the cell phone towers. Some of those tom's are huge. Been seeing them for years and they are probably the same ones. Another place with a large flock is 590 at the 104 exit. There is a field on the east side of the exit, always 3-4 toms strutting out there. there is and access road where the town or the county goes in to dump debris. Sometimes they are strutting right up the access road about 30 yards off the expressway. Always drives me nuts during the spring.

My youth left me about 40 years ago... Good luck everyone and be safe..

Ahhhh ....The dreaded cloacial kiss.. Thanks guy's for the biology lesson...From my research ,I kinda figured that's how it works but I still think there has got to be a better way to do it!! Phade, I have seen alot of activity in Groveland, Dansville, Springwater, Cannasaraga and Conesus. I guess that would be Southern Livingston

Nothing fancy here. Remington 870. extra full Remington choke and 3" Remington Turkey loads #6 shot. Does well out to 40 yards but I like them at 25 yards or so. Tip of the day: Always paint the crimp in your turkey loads black. You dont want that Big Boy looking up the barrel and seeing your bright green or red shot shell!!!

I am in Livingston county and have been hearing and seeing gobblers every spot I have checked out. They have been tearing it up every morning around my house. Looks like it's going to be a great season but it is driving me crazy with 3 weeks to wait!!! That is an excellent picture of the mating pair. When I see this in pictures and in the wild it always seems like such an awkward position to perform the deed....It seems the part the gobbler is interested in is under the hen's tail .....so he stands on her back!!!!!!! What's up with that???? Does anyone know how this actually works out??? I have found general explainations on the web but I am detail oriented and I cant figure out how this would work with the tail in the way!! This is a serious biological question....I am just curious and have no intentions of trying this at home. ;D

Heard 3 different birds gobbling on the ridge across the road this morning as I was leaving for work. Of course I had to stay and listen to them so I was late for work again..... I hope it warms up soon.... Good luck

Date and time are incorrect...This was last week sometime. -
Yes it is a 4 shot burst but I think this one is bothered by something in the woods. He is looking that way and then bolts. I thought it was the camera too. I have had other deer bolt like that at night only, so I think they dont like the IR. It only makes a slight noise when it goes off so I dont know if they see the IR like a white flash, or they see the bank of red led's flashing. Someone else said in another thread that maybe the camera makes a noise when the flash charges. I used to have a camera that would whistle when the flash charged. Maybe it is out of human hearing frequency. I am going to test it on the dog.
-
Mine makes a very slight click when it goes off . I always thought that was what was causing it but I wonder if they see the IR like a white flash to us. Sometimes in the second or third pic in the burst, they will stick their nose in the camera , flat out bolt or just look intently at the camera. I dont think it is the slight click as they do not notice the cam in the daytime. They must see the IR light somehow.
