Why did I have a nice 8, at less than 20 yards Friday morning, that just wouldn't give me a shot. And WHY did the same buck walk out of the brush, the next day, and stand broadside 20 yards, in front of the neighbor, who killed him 10 minutes into the stand??? WHY?? Why did I sit for 5hrs this morning not seeing a single deer but see all kinds of new sign all around my stand when I walked out??? WHY?? Why don't I just spend my Falls/ Winters Bowling??? Why???

A guy I use to hunt with had it bad. He could not help lifting his head at the moment of the shot. Gun or bow. It was like a mental problem. To watch him shoot was scary!! Bow at 20 yds. or gun at 50yds he would be way, way, way off. He would lift his head every single time. The few deer he did kill were 100% luck. He would miss or wound more deer (mostly bucks), every season, than the rest of us even saw. He finally got so sick of us ragging on him, for always missing or wounding deer, he stopped hunting with us. Its been like 20+ years now. Last I heard he still wounds, misses and loses more deer than he takes. .

Tough call… Id like to say I would call the DEC/Police but if the response time was going to be long do you let the thing suffer?? Im thinking I would have given her a round to the back of the head, but its hard to say with out actually being there and seeing the whole picture.

When you think about it.. a tax, on honest, hard working, responsible gun owners, would solve the gun violence problem caused by dishonest, career criminal, repeat offending, parole violating,constant victimizing, bottom feeding scum who couldn't care less about any laws. You know?? Like the repeat offending stains who live in places like Chicago, Baltimore, NYC, South Central L.A. Syracuse, Utica ETC...I mean these "Politicians" talk about the gun violence in these places all the time because their not total cowards. Im sure that this "Congresswoman" went to college and is way smarter than us….So…I mean think about it…She must be right.

I have had the same results with Rage regular 2 blades. Big ..big..Big..holes and deer die fast. I shot a big buck a couple years ago. He made it about 25- 30 yards but he was dead on his feet the whole way. After he ran maybe 10 yards I could see that he had nothing left. Rubber band legs…..switched to the hypodermic 100gr last season but never got a shot with them. Im sure the results will be the same.. Congrats

Since rings and bases started coming with Allen fittings or Torx heads, rather than flat head screws, they can be tightened a lot more, and I wouldn't worry too much if I didn't have loctite on hand. But if I could, I would still use a tiny bit of the blue loctite. Just to play it safe. Some ring screws come pre treated with the blue stuff. You can see it on the threads.

Was talking to a young man yesterday who said he had just bought a new Winchester XPR bolt action rifle, less than 2 weeks ago, for this gun season. Turns out there is a recall on them….Already?? They just came out this summer. I guess the recall is a serious one. Rifles can fire when taking the safety off. Anyone get stuck?

A friend kept telling me that reusing an arrow, that you killed a deer with was good luck as long as it was still straight. I was shooting aluminum then. I cleaned up an arrow that I took a buck with the year before, and tried it on my block target. Apparently it wasn't completely straight. It missed the block, it went through my shed, sliced lengthwise through the cushion of my wife's lawn chair that was in the shed, went through the top of a bag of charcoal (or maybe it was potting soil or something) and stuck in the opposite interior wall of my shed. I don't re use arrows

9F-Friday A.M. I had a big 8 trailing a doe pretty hard. The neighbor killed him last night after the buck followed a doe out into a plot. Friday I also saw a 6 sniffing along, nose to the ground, down an old logging road. I think its going to blow up any time now.

It helps to stretch a little in the morning. I do some stretches and draw the bow a few times, in the morning. …….But sometimes I still pull a muscle while brushing my teeth….
