Ted Nugent is a JERK!! Those who would grovel at his feet are likewise!
-
I have processed three road killed deer...all approvecd by local law officers...no tags necessary. I will never do it again...unless I witness a kill by head blow. The ones I got were a real mess to work with: lots of aggravation...little meat. Like I said....never again.

The .300 Win. Mag. is a great round...but I wouldn't buy one to use for eastern deer for all the reasons mentioned: ammo cost...recoil...etc. My neighbor has a superb old Remington 700 in .300 Win Mag. He can really shoot it and has taken mule deer and elk at long range with it. But...for deer hunting here in NY, he uses his .308.

Yep...And, farmers can always use help getting their hay in.
-
Might be a good idea to spend some time working with the farmer doing whatever seasonal chores he has. Working alongside him can serve to "pay" for your hunting privilege, and you will get to learn through casual conversation, as you work, what he knows about deer movement on his property. He is the "resident expert" and can be much more valuable than any of your planned hi-tech surveillance. Good Luck

What BULL!! If I have some ZIMMERMAN RULES T-shirts made up, can I count on you to buy a dozen, or do you want more?
-
It would be proper to wish that all you Trayvon Martin haters never suffer the loss of a child/grandchild to such senseless violence, but.....In my weak moments, I hope you all do!!!

Came across this website ... Sounds like a neat place to visit ... Opens next month: http://www.victoryviewvineyard.com/about/

I sincerely hope that you never have to suffer the death of a child or grandchild at the hands of someone like Zimmerman.

Shotguns are NEVER boring!!!!
-
Steve...I'm not familiar with FL law, but I suspect it is illega for an armed man to slay an unarmed boy. You are not wearing a "FREE ZIMMERMAN" T-shirt, are you?
-
I agree...keep your lord, whoever she may be, out of this. It is apparent from responses here that racism is alive and well in the good old USA.
-
ny hunter is right: The kid was doing nothing wrong when Zimmerman confronted him. Zimmerman did not act in self-defense; he was an offensive aggressor. Whatever happened...however it went down (and we will never know, for sure) the altercation was initiated by Zimmerman. He should pay!
-
I hope Zimmerman is convicted of something....He should not get off Scott free. I hope the general public accepts the verdict...and there is no rioting/looting.

Foreign Aid...It is killing us!! For the life of me, I can not understand why we take our money and give it away...in some cases to countries that hate us.

Hunt swamps during the "deep freeze" of late January/February for small game, especially grouse and snowshoe hare. You will be surprised at what you can learn.
-
"For identification purposes.....", really, what horsecrap. Why not just tattoo a number on the forehead of every American...for identification purposes!! When one is required to wear a number (forehead tattoo, or back tag), the suggestion is that the govt. considers the wearer to be a threat of some sort. We hunters are suspect....hence, we must wear a number on our backs so wimpy citizens and govt. henchmen can blow the whistle on us. My vote: Do away for back tags!
-
Easiest time to scout a swamp is after it has frozen up. You can then get in/around/through parts of the swamp that are unaccessible when not frozen. A snow-covered, frozen swamp will tell you much about the deer who use it. A freeze up late in the hunting season is perfect: Your scouting will reveal where the deer bed and what routes they travel when under hunting pressure.

Back tags provide "presumptive evidence" for the cops (DEC ECO's included) to harass hunters. I think back tags should be abolished!!!

Highly recommended read for Antler Restriction
Early replied to WhitetailAddict11's topic in Deer Hunting
Wow.....Finally, WNY introduces the concept of carrying capacity. With the clamor for big racks, we seem to have lost the grasp of fundamental wildlife management. Call it what you will: .AR...QDMA, or whatever....Most likely the proponents live/hunt in areas where the deer population is UP.....most likely they cultivate "food plots" (aka bait stations) to create/ attract big bucks...most likely they kill multiple deer per year...they are primarily "ambushers" (doing their killing from a "shoot house" overlooking a bait station.....er, excuse me, a food plot.) They most likely use trail cams to get an edge on the local deer. From a traditional standpoint, they are not really hunters. But, they do whine loudly !!! Yep......I am an old fart hunter, who wishes to hunt in a traditional manner...without a slew of new regulations designed to benefit the "food plotters"! OK newbies....take your shots Early -

OK...I read it, and my opinion has not changed. I remain, in general, opposed to antler restrictions. -
Muck vs Lacrosse boots
Early replied to YFKI1983's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
Never tried Muck or Bog.....Have been wearing LaCrosse for years and love them. If you decide on the Muck/Bog type boot, check at Agway they have a similar boot for less money. -
need help w/selling,pricing 2 guns
Early replied to 2012_taco's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
The Model 11, with plain barrel should be worth between $250 - $400. Add a rib to the barrel...worth more. Model 94's seem to be bringing extremely high prices right now....could be worth as much as $400-$500. -
Snakeroot, for sure!

Agree: Off-season reading is both entertaining and educational. Suggestion: Look for good hunting books at garage sales, library book sales, and book store "bargain bins". A few years back, Outdoor Life put out a series if DEER HUNTER'S YEARBOOKS. I have several and re-read them often.
