  1. Sorry...no pics....testifies to my lack of tech. ability
  2. I have a Ruger Red Label O/U 20 ga. that I would like to sell. It is in excellent condition: price...$1000 cash only. I am located in the Capital District. Anyone interested??
  3. I will never jump another fence...I will never jump another fence...I will never jump another fence !!!!!!!!
  4. I have given up on layered socks...Now, I prefer a single INGENIOUS sock.
  5. I have a neighbor who regularly rides her horse on woodland trails. She sees more deer, and closer, than I do hunting. (For the record...she smells SWEET!)
  6. Yes, ECO's and Forest Rangers both now have broad law enforcement powers they did not have in the past.
  7. I think the programs in place work fine and should not be changed. A little better oversight to prevent fraud and waste would be nice, however.
  8. I have been catching/eating smallmouth bass for well over fifty years. Most of them I have deep fried, my favorite; Some, I baked...others I grilled over charcoal. Last night I tried something new...new for me, at least. I melted some butter in a fry pan...added a few drops of lemon juice...and let it get quite hot. Then I slipped in two nice smallmouth fillets and seared them quickly on both sides (took on a nice golden brown color). Then, I turned the heat down and cooked until the fish was done. Came out absolutely delicious. Simple and delicious...and with the fan running as I cooked...no smell! I will definitely do this again!
  9. Sad tale, indeed. Perhaps, down the road, we will learn what type/brand of safety harness he used...and, why it failed. For now, our thoughts must be with his family. Be careful out there!
  10. Touche'.....Must agree with your last point.
  11. Nah...I don't think 16 ga. hates bowhunters. He is just sick of their whining...sick of their complaints re: cross bows, youth hunting, etc. He is not alone.
  12. Tonight is my wife's night out with the "girls". The wife of one of my hunting buddies is also a member of that group. So...I am doing dinner here for my buddy and me: Vegetable chowder with ham...Dang, it will be good!
  13. Best check the law on this: I'm quite sure it is illegal for a companion to carry a firearm alongside you while you are bowhunting for deer.
  14. Hey Eddie....I started bowhunting a full twenty years before you did, and I never whined about other hunters. You, sir, are a whiner!
  15. A hunt can be "ruined" by any number of factors....and, SO WHAT? When is a successful hunt crucial to life?? A "ruined" hunt today, might be a successful hunt tomorrow. So, buck up ;hunters...particularly you whining bowhunters...live with what life throws your way; make the best of each day. Small game hunters...bowhunters...hikers...mountain bikers...are all equals. Treat each other as such.
  16. Erosion control....I like that: Control erosion...kill deer. Two-for-one....ain't NYS great!
  17. That's GREAT!!! Of course all the bow hunters will be whining that he ruined their hunting. Get the kids out...our future depends on it!!!

C'mon, Fast Eddie......Short-barrel 20 ga. with 3" loads and a long-barrel 12 ga. with 2.75" low base ammo: You can tell which is which?....Yeah, right! There are far, far too many variables in the field to claim that one can identify rifle or shotgun and/or caliber or ga. with certainty every time!
  19. Good post....I feel the same way!

The shots you didn't hear....rifle?, or shotgun?

Agree: To pinpoint the location of a shot, along with the firarm which produced it is pretty much impossible.
  22. Pains in the ass....but, magnificent creatures nonetheless!
