  1. Pressure tank could be water-logged. If it is a bladderless model...open the air valve and drain the tank; close the air valve and turn the pump back on. If it is a bladder model...could be a ruptured bladder...time for a new tank.
  2. Describe the problem more clearly: You say the pump goes on and off...so what? Does your water pressure build up? Does the the pump start and stop...and start and stop, repeatedly and often? We need a clearer description of what is going on.
  3. I do not share the taste for slow-cooked turkey thighs (wild turkey, that is), and I find the drumsticks cooked anyway inedible...simply not worth messing with. I will continue to deep fry and enjoy wild turkey thighs...and occasionally grind some for burger...with fat (pork Italian sausage) added, of course. None of that slow-cooking for me!
  4. We always use the thighs for appetizers for our annual fish fry. Simply cut the thighs into bite-size pieces...pound well with a meat mallet to tenderize...submerge in a good beer batter overnight...fry while they are still cold the next day...Delicious! (Guests who claim they do not like wild game meat stand in line at the fryer for these treats!) On a good year, when the boys and I score on multiple turkeys, we might also grind a couple of thighs to mix with Italian sausage for a great burger.
  5. This thread give new meaning to "Ad Nauseum"...This incessant rambling, like Nugent makes me want to puke!
  6. The VOICE(s)...our Voice...is out there. Spoken by the Dads and Grandads that introduce kids to guns/shooting/hunting...Spoken by those many selfless volunteer Hunter Safety Instructors...Spoken by the Moms and Grandmas that cook and serve the game we bring home. These voices that support/protect our hunting/shooting heritage are not necessarily loud...are not profane...BUT THEY GET THE JOB DONE!!! Make sure your voice is among them!
  7. OMG....You are using the "Anything anti-Nugie is anti-gun" argument. Do you really believe that anyone who doesn't worship Nugent as you do is a PETA supporter? One can be pro-gun...pro-hunting, and still be anti-Nugent. Grow up! Hero worship ends with the 4th Grade!
  8. Simply stated....Side with a whacko, and you are a whacko! Nugent is a whacko; I am not. Ergo, I am not a Nugent supporter!
  9. Aw come on...That "Judge Not" stuff is a bunch of crap! It is important for us to judge the character of others...so that we can decide whom we wish to associate with, and whom we don't. "Judge Not"....Gimme a break!
  10. Gee...Wonder how all those whackos that worship him feel now???
  11. For a crowd-pleasing first course of a wild game dinner, try this: a) Brown a pound of ground wild turkey thigh meat (or use venison burger)...Add a packet of taco meat seasoning and cook as directed...add 1 1/2 teaspoon of liquid smoke as you cook Cut turkey breast cutlets 3/8" thick....then pound down to 1/8" +/- to tenderize c) Spread a generous helping of the smoke-flavored taco meat on each cutlet...add a generous helping of shredded taco cheese d) Roll up the cutlets around the filling...wrap with bacon, enclosing ends, too (Bacon should stick and secure the rolls without toothpicks) e) Bake in a 375 degree oven until the bacon is fairly crisp.....Serve hot out of the oven
  12. Ahhh...Smoothbore slug barrel......That generally means Improved Cylinder, which is way to open for turkey hunting. (Make a great close cover grouse gun, though!)
  13. If your 12 gauge is choked full...most singles are...then it will kill turkeys with 6's all day, as long as you limit your shots to 30 yds. or less. If it more open-choked...use 5's...maybe even 4's.
  14. Like Lawdwaz, I like to run 'n gun. I hunt a lot on State land, and I plan my gun 'n run routes to be well away from commonly hunted roads and trails. And, yes, I occasionally gobble; it has worked several times in the past. Another "trick" I use is to backtrack along a run 'n gun route; I often pick up silent birds that I failed to connect with on my original trip through. Hunt the way you want, fellas.....Just be safe & have fun!
  15. Looking for a new way to use tough venison steak, cut an inch thick or thinner? Try this; STEAK SAN MARCO Ingredients: 2 lbs venison steak - cut into serving pieces 1 envelope onion soup mix 1 can (15-16 oz) stewed tomatoes, cut up 1 tsp oregano Freshly ground pepper & garlic powder to taste 2 T olive oil 2 T wine vinegar Procedure: Put meat in skillet; Cover with tomatoes & soup mix; Sprinkle with the rest of the ingredients. Simmer, covered, for 1 1/2 hours. Serve with cooked brown rice, with sauce spooned over the rice.
  16. Coupla tips on spraying your clothing with permethrin: Be sure to spray several inches INSIDE of pants and shirt cuffs...ditto for inside of shirt collar and pants waistline. As added protection, buy a camo bandana...spray it well and then wear around your neck while hunting.

    Craw/cray fish

No....Catch 'em when you need 'em!
  18. To hell with decoys...I'm going out to buy a couple of soccer balls!
  19. I once witnessed a guy miss a target butt while shooting inside a steel Butler building (two corrugated steel walls, sandwiched around 2.5" of styrafoam); range was about 22 yds...arrow went completely through the building wall. He was shooting a 45 lb. Bear recurve! (One could guess that few deer are as tough as that steel building!)
  20. Hmmm....My understanding has always been that no permission = trespasser; verbal permission = invitee...or trespasser if a liability issue comes up; written permission = invitee; permission granted in exchange for money = licensee. Landowner's liability increases through this progression.
  21. True, but with a permission slip...you are not trespassing.
  22. Interesting....How would such permission slips affect the landowner's liability. Without such a slip, you would be a trespasser; with one, you would be an invitee. Would that not increase the landowner's liability?
  23. NRA needs to get rid of Nugent, Santorum and Palin...and sign this Chick up!
  24. It is mind-boggling that many see this idiot as a favorable spokesperson for hunters/shooters/gunowners. He and his actions do us far more harm than good!
