  1. He also said they didn't think we used the land anymore because I sold my camper at top of property when my buddy bought the house down on the road. They had no problem trespassing when they thought no one was there even though my property is posted. Also I found a trail camera and tree stand they had out that I had them remove. This attitude seems to be popular with these younger guys that don't respect anything or anyone but hopefully my neighbor will straighten these guys out so I don't have to get authorities involves. Hope you're wrong ants
  2. I own 30 acres and my neighbor owns 5. He is abutting 900+ acres of state land. Last year opening morning gun season my brother in law and I had to chase two hunters both from the 5 acre camp off my land. Funny thing was they weren't hunting together but they were both headed for the same spot (My spot!). I went to the landowner of the five acres and he was very understanding and said he would have a talk with all of "his guys". He has got countless sons and nephews and their friends so they are constantly tresspassing especially when he is not there. Hope he can work it out.
  3. This morning not any better despite news reports. Three stations in Holbrook closed, the Hess in town has State Troopers hanging around but not open yet. Line is going out to main road(Patchogue-Holbrook) and back to LIE where the Exxon is closed but the line continues on South service road further than I could see. Yesterday it stretched back to exit 59. Holbrook is exit 61. I'm supposed to be going up to property this Thursday to hunt hope we get back to normal by then. Can we get gas upstate? From what I hear they are fine with that, I' in Norwich.
  4. Well thanks guys they say misery loves company! Going up Thursday for last bow hunt and going to get a lot of target practice in the next four days. We have a big bruiser on trail cam and don't want to miss him! Missing the six and a doe is one thing.
  5. I think you are right mike I was not 100 percent sure on either shot at the moment of truth.
  6. Was out last Sunday morning and missed a nice breadbasket six. Hit branch of course and arrow flew behind him. Two weeks ago I stalked a doe and shot over her back at 25 yards. Anyone want to buy a bow? Can't wait until the 17th. And yes I'm a good shot and practice, just dumb luck. Maybe I'll give it one more try next weekend before gun...this is frustrating and addicting at the same time.
  7. What do you think he scores? I'm no good at field scoring so take your guess...Got him sept 20th at 11pm in my new clover plot!
  8. Don't worry guys, we got A-rod!
  9. Kids all off to school, pool closed backyard furniture put away, been shooting since close of turkey season then last week I get home from work and wife is standing in kitchen looking down at floor and says(think sarcastic dice clay voice) "honey I think we have a slab leak the floor is all ruined!". I mean can I get a break for once for christ sake? Turns out she wasn't far off but it was dishwasher leakin..so now laminate floor is all swelled up and insurance guy comes up with a check by Saturday which wife gets in mailbox before I can hide it so now(dice voice again)"honey can we go floor shopping? Ooh ooh.. Can u put floor in this week? Bang zoom! To the moon ya know what I'm saying?
  10. Two big macs three biggie fries and a small diet coke please
  11. Im wearing blaze orange that weekend, to have kids who are too young to be shooting rifles in the woods during bow season is nuts(IMO). CRAZY IDEA DEC. If they want a youth hunt fine but shut down bow for three days it wont kill us. Being shot might.
  12. Wow how did you do it? I have two the same age and one likes quading and shooting but won't hunt. The other wants nothing to do with the outdoors. I hate to say it but I do not think kids these days have the patience/attention span to appreciate the solitude/peacefulness and beauty of the woods. If they are not texting/facebooking/tweeting while they are doing schoolwork, listening to music and watching tv all at the same time they are bored. Down here on Long Island these woman like as my wife puts it "the Great Indoors"
  13. This two party system has polarized this country so much that neither party will work with one another anymore. I lean republican(for a new yorker at least) but for four years all that the republicans have been focused on is bad-mouthing the president. Its time to scrap political parties, the electoral college, conventions and lets take a real one man one vote computerized vote. Whoever wins the overall popular vote takes the election.
  14. Yeah I just got rid of two.......drunk college kids that is
  15. Many of us who were leary but still a bit hopeful of this purported "hope and change" four years ago have been very disappointed. Like steve863 said what is so different now than when W was pres? We are still in a war in the middle east. Obama pandered to the left wing of his party saying he will end the wars yet he has not. Jobs? What jobs? Mcdonalds? Please is he even trying to deal with China? What's he going to do now talk tough to Assad in syria to look presidential? Yeah is he a likable guy? Maybe but I like my lawn guy but do we want him leading the free world? C'mon guys it's not a race thing at all it's JOB PERFORMANCE...
  16. Wow if u don't agree with our president that makes you a racist? Is that what your saying? I thought we were past this?
  17. Yes Virgil he's a little mixed up but we get the point....P.S. we like to be called right wing nut jobs, thank you
  18. My kid plays college ball and there are kids failing PED tests at this level. Sad but true.
  19. What bothers me the most is that they believe if you shoot anything less than a 4 to 5 year old that you are doing something wrong. I dont want to start an AR/QDMA argument and if you want to only shoot "mature" bucks thats fine with me but I would be more interested to watch a few regular joes go out and hunt, maybe film their season from summer scouting and treestand placement through the late season. These shows are not hunting shows they are killing shows bc hunting to me starts with the scouting/planning/preparation and not just having some outfitter stick you in a tree and say shoot the biggest one of the forty deer you will see on the first morning.
  20. If your hunting/camping alone you really are hamstrung in choices of equipment and I see your dilemma. Small tent, roll up matt and small propane heater that doubles as a stove is what your looking at. One man can only carry so much. There are lean-toos in roscoe and margaretsville on state land I can point you to which are about 2 1/2-3 hr drive from bronx. Hunting there is no picnic though lol
  21. Elmo your out of your mind. Well maybe just a little. Used to do this 30 years ago (crap im getting old!) and it was fun until one night the heater we used must have melted some snow and I woke up face down in puddle of freezing water/slush. But if your a glutton for punishment I would buy something with two rooms, one for cooking and another for sleeping. Whatever you do keep the lantern away from tent wall for this is how our old tent met its end; thankfully. Also buy a cot! Good luck
  22. Like I said Ive been down that road before so I feel for ya....Last time the wife made me sleep on the couch for 2 weeks
