    I'm with you Jonh I missed last two weekends myself but even though buddies can't make it until rifle I'm going up solo this weekend!! Oct 12th saw some fresh scrapes but only small bucks n does were out...Got a 7M doe tag in mail last week so I hope to fill the freezer at least...oh and congrats on your daughter's baptism

    My favorite meal is venison backstraps on the BBQ. That being said I do pass up on fawns and spikes now, though I have shot plenty of both in the past. My buddy that I have been hunting with for 30yrs will not shoot does nor any small buck. Alot of guys on this thread are even more selective and to each his own. So I consider myself a meat hunter and my buddy an EGO hunter..lol

    Scraping heavy on my property in 7M...was walking to stand in afternoon and smelt deer (like Papist said) then looked off to my left and found a fresh scrape that wasn't there a week earlier.

    Ready to go! Stands are trimmed, just have to climb in and hook harness into strap, also was up labor day wkd and found new scrape. 3wks and counting....

    not bad but I hear Rocky PT is better. I usually do not hunt the island until after Thanksgiving and find the checking in thing to be a pain so I stick to the spots south of the LIE in Otis Pike and the Sarnoff. I don't know about RP but in the Sarnoff I always get bikers, hikers, etc....

    I usually hunt Otis Pike or the Sarnoff so maybe someone else would know better but as long as you park in the designated lots (the ones that are numbered) you should be good. If I remember right the lot on the 25A bypass was always crowded with people other than hunters.

    Just put parking permit in viewable area on your dash, carry other permit with you and your good. Before Nov 1st you do not need to check in at Ridge. After that you do. The lots are first come first serve (pre Nov 1) and hold either 1 or 2 cars. Do some scouting now and find a tree, but beware of chiggers! That's why I usually wait until after the second frost to hunt the island and do my scouting in the winter months after the season. Good luck and see you out there...

    Yea your pic is 4x3 inches at 72 dpi....aka low res crap...even when you sharpen it and/or res it up it you can't make out the antlers

    yea we just have the cheap camera's(moultries, WGI) so no one takes them. A few years back I found a trailcam on my property with a hanger over it. Went to my neighbor and he says "yeah sorry I thought you guys didn't hunt here anymore"??? I said are you serious? Told him I was going to hunt his stand then give it back after the season but take the camera out now....some people just don't get it

    Early is right on, too much violence everywhere and there is poor to nonexistant parenting of these kids. Problem is these "thugs" are having kids of their own and there is nothing being done to turn the tide. Deadly cycle for them and their victims. Not many of the greatest generation left and this is how he is treated, disgusting!

    Can this be the same deer? Pic in velvet(smaller one) in july this summer. Bigger guy last fall. Both deer in same spot same trailcam.

    If you gun hunt also then 11-15. Back it up with opening day. If you believe in the rutting moon theory then you won't miss the chase phase.

    Thinking about bowhunting new jersey in January/febuary but their regs are so confusing. Seems you need non res liscence then anterless and or anterled permit, but are they zone specific?
