  1. Nobody on this site is a legal professional. I'm amazed this thread has gone this far without any real expertise, on either side, what you are talking about.
  2. You mean the post got moved to the political forum? I guess the mods feel dove hunting is a political issue. Maybe by pointing out the guy was a Democrat did it. But since it's here now, I bet a Republican in his seat would have been just as quick to champion dove hunting, but not so quick to support the other issues on the left he supported.
  3. The Huff Post, along with all of the rest of the leftist mass media, spends lots of time and millions of dollars, pushing anti-gun propaganda on the American citizen. It is effective on dullards and Leftist Liberals who have a hatred of firearms to begin with, mainly because they have no real intellectual understand of them, or their useful purposes. Here's a look from the other side of the fence. "When so-called "assault weapons" were banned by the Bill Clinton administration in 1994, the overwhelming majority of Americans (80%) supported it. Now, not even a majority do. The turnaround is nothing short of remarkable. More Americans disapprove (53%) than approve (45%) today than they did 22 years ago — despite the increasingly vile attitude we see from mainstream media zealots. Yet this also helps explain why Americans are increasingly accepting of guns. The mass media enjoyed a virtual monopoly over communication in 1994. That effectively gave the Left control over the narrative, and disinformation campaigns were easy to orchestrate. But all that began to change during the Information Age. As Dean Weingarten of The Truth About Guns observes, "Conservative talk radio had already begun to make inroads into American culture, and the Internet was just starting to become a viable method of mass communication. The opponents of the ban managed to include a sunset to the bill ten years in the future. By the time the sunset came due, enough people had learned the truth about 'assault weapons' to prevent an extension of the bill." He adds, "Clearly emotion-based arguments and lies can sway an electorate to support gun control. But when the facts are disseminated, support diminishes. That's why the proponents of civilian disarmament push so hard to pass gun control measures quickly." We see a similar reaction unfolding on the issue of background checks. Thank heavens we still have an open media. It's no wonder the marketplace of ideas that has become a hallmark of conservative media is the Democrats' next point of attack."
  4. I believe he was referring to the government's lawsuit against tobacco companies that cost them billions. It's obvious now it's costing smokers billions. When people criticized the lawsuit back then claiming it would be passed on to smokers, they were dismissed as paranoid because nobody would ever pay $5 for a pack of cigarettes.
  5. You have to understand what's happening with loan repayment to see the whole picture. Cohort default rates substantially underestimate the percent of students who have been unable to lower their loan balances. Of the nearly 5,700 colleges with data on both CDRs and repayment rates, the median college had a 14.9 percent three-year CDR while 40.8 percent of students did not repay any principal in the first three years after leaving college. This means that one in four exiting students was not in default, yet did not make a dent in their loan balance in the first three years after entering repayment. http://www.brookings.edu/blogs/brown-center-chalkboard/posts/2015/09/30-default-rates-student-loan-kelchen The truth about student loans is very ugly. Most college educations today do not prepare the student to earn enough money to ever pay the loan back. The return on investment is often very poor. It didn't used to be that way, back when people had to come up with the money on their own and colleges weren't overpriced due to all the free money the Fed gives out.
  6. Like their personal debts and student loans, they are not worried, having no intention of ever paying them back. Just what they've been taught by the political party they endorse.
  7. Probably the best article I've seen so far about the Elk vs Wolf issue out west and in Canada. Lots of good, factual information from this PhD here. http://www.theoutdoorwire.com/features/230635
  8. I hope these young people will enjoy living without electric and automobiles when they grow up. Once regulated to the max, they will not be within the reach of middle class Americans.
  9. Anything is possible, but it really seems this administration is doing everything it can to make this happen. I know if I wanted to destroy America, I'd have done everything Obama has done up to this point too.
  10. There are many places in NY where you don't see them much. They are an unprotected species in NY with no closed season and no bag limit. Anyone with a NY hunting license can shoot them all the time.
  11. Expresso, does any of this threatening behavior have you at all concerned? http://libertyunyielding.com/2016/04/06/black-lives-matter-co-founder-tweets-killing-men-white-folks/
  12. How about we just worry about the one's who are a threat today? Who cares about the one's that are all dead and gone? Yes, some militia people are crazy and a threat, but at least they can be monitored, infiltrated and arrested with impunity. The Muslim community is protected by every form of political correctness, making it very hard to infiltrate or monitor them. That is a big problem for law enforcement. Worry about the white supremacists if you want, and don't forget about the other races that have supremacy groups too. But, do not use any of them to misdirect the biggest threat facing us today, unless your intention is to protect them even more.
  13. There was no power vacuum in Iraq as long as the US had a large military force there working to install a democracy. ISIS is the result of Obama's ill advised draw down of US troops far too soon, just to meet a campaign promise. He was told by everyone that matters, not to do it and he did it anyway. Obama owns the ISIS problem. He is the one who allowed them to form, expand, gain power and terrorize that whole region of the world. I wouldn't be surprised if history proves he did it intentionally.
  14. The original question was, "Which is a GREATER threat?". Yes, there have been Americans who have killed like terrorists, but I don't think it easy to point out an incident since OK City. Why? Because they realized that wouldn't advance their agenda. They want support from regular, everyday, ordinary citizens. That is the only way they can gain power. Now Islamic terrorists have no desire for support. They just want us all dead. Which is a greater threat today? Who is more likely to achieve an attack on Americans using chemical weapons or a nuclear weapon? The body count presented prior seems to be manipulated to me. I don't believe all incidents have been properly recorded because many of the incidents were not properly labeled Islamic terror. Ft Hood is one example. That is far less important than the numbers that will be coming in the future. I don't think you will see "militias" racking up the body count Islamic terrorists will from now on. Failing to direct efforts of prevention at the right target, or not directing them correctly because political correctness was able to misdirect the real threat, will prove to be a huge mistake.
  15. Great photos. I enjoy dove hunting and have done it in other states where they are rightfully listed as game birds. Still, they are pretty to look at, be they in a tree, or in my hand. BTW, I don't believe there is any way a hunter could blow off a dove's toe when it's flying without killing it as well, since the feet are tucked into the body when they fly. I'm sure what Mike says about feeding birds does stifle migration in many doves.
  16. Drawing a bull tag in PA would be pure luck, but the state has proven the RMEF knows what it's doing. Sure there are plenty of huge bulls in people's back yards now, but PA is working to change that. PA made the mistake of using the elk to draw tourists more than reintroducing them as wild animals in the wilderness that could be hunted. If you have ever been in the PA Wilds area, you wouldn't feel taking a bull elk there would be so easy.
  17. I do not agree with this. Nor do I agree the NRA-ILA doesn't inform it's members about anti-gun and anti-hunting lobbying efforts long before they become bills in the legislature. If supporting these groups that are fighting the anti's isn't right, what is?
  18. Cops just want to go home safe. The idiots you think are hated by cops, are the ones who have given them reason to react to stupid moves by fools they are trying to interact with. Cops don't often shoot people who don't give them reason to believe they might get shot. I'd jump in to help a cop being attacked by some idiot who won't comply. There were far fewer shootings by police when there were far fewer police getting shot. The police did not start this current shoot fest. I don't believe cops can do no wrong, but do believe they have a right to fear for their life when dealing with a moron being aggressive and hostile!
  19. If they get the change they are after, will that benefit or harm the US?
  20. If all these negative reports were true, Pennsylvania would be a disaster area by now. I don't see PA residents screaming to shut it down.
  21. I was very angry to read the part about asking servicemen how many firearms they have at home. Where in hell do they get off asking that?
  22. Always glad to welcome a new member, especially an NRA lifer.
  23. First, I'm not married. 2nd, my kids are on their own. 3rd, I wouldn't go anywhere that did not have the best interests of the US in mind, nor would I take anyone along that didn't have a reason for coming along. Being President of the United States is not a celebrity position, nor an all expense vacation to be milked to the max. It is the most difficult position to be bestowed upon anyone in the world. It can be used to accomplish great things, or suck the life out of the fools that put you there. Too often, the latter is the norm, but never quite as awful as the current occupant.
  24. With regard to Cuba, and only regarding Cuba, which is the gist of this thread, an escaped cop killer is the only thing they have that I want returned. That is correct. They can keep their communist tyranny and Caribbean crap hole forever, as far as I'm concerned. As far as today's killers go, what do you think I want?
