I and all instructors are volunteers. I agree that there could be some of the classes combined. Yes kids take them around the same time. Both require you to be 11 but have to be 12 before the next season. I have to teach what the state gives me for outlines. There is a lot on ethics responsibility conservation and thse topics. All necessary, but not to be repeated. The problem is I do 3 or 4 classes a yea rnow at 12 hours each. Granted that is my choice, but to add another 6 or so to do bow combined, I am not going to go that far. What would be a big help wul dne some mor egood responsible people to step up and volunteer to teach.

Technically, it is called sportsmans education program gun course. At one tie they talked about combining gun and bow into one class. With the exception of the implement, the same material is taught in both classes. Now we have to imtroduce crossbow into the course also

So relax guys. you can hunt small game during any open season as long as you have a bow certificate as to hunting big game and small game it is no different than w/ a gun so carrying a mix of arrows and hunting a mixed bag is legal just as an shotgun with slug and shot is legal if you have the proper license

My father who has passed now, used to smoke prince albert tobacco in his pipe. He claimed he could smoke the pipe and shoot a deer and pick the pipe up and it would still be lit. I can not personally attest to this, but he had no reason to tellme if it wasnt true. As far as scent, I hang my clothes in the woods for a week or two before season, then pack them with pine brows. It seems to work fine for me.

I belong to a small group who hunt together at a camp/club. There are 5 of us. It varies who is there, but after opening weekend, the numbers dwindle.

My definition is when I start to see screapes and trees rubbed up. The bucks seem more active and looking for attention. I also look for single does as compared to groups of does and younger deer. If I start seeing a single deer out feeding, I start using the rattle bag and grunt call a little more.

the rut is so minor copmapred to the pre rut. The actual rut lasts only about 36 hours. It is the prerut when the chasing is going on that needs attention. The actual rut, activity slows as the does go to heavy covered areas along with the bucks that are waiting for them.

I guess again I am the freak. I go in about 830 or 9 am. I usually find myself going out when others are coming in. Opening morning I was in the stand before daylight an dstayed until 10:30. Back out at 2 in a different stand after getting some things done at camp. But as I was saying as the season moves on, I tend to hunt sifferent houra. I have killed more deer between 10am and noon than any other time. I find that the deer pattern hunters movements and tend to move more during the "normal" down times. I usually hunt very successfully 9 or so until 3.

I guess I sit in wonder when a person bags a nice 8 or 10 in an area there is no AR. I guess he migrated from the AR areas. There are big deer to be had everywhere if you want to work hard enough to get them.
