I like watching Roger Raglin he does stupid stuff like I would find myself doing in the heat of the hunt. His videos don't seem to be scripted and they are sometimes hard follow but man can he shoot, especially moving animals. Ive seen him connect on animals I would never have tried to take a shot at. His videos seem to more like real life hunting, and he gets just as excited over the little ones as he does with the big ones, its actually quite annoying sometimes.

Remington 700 varmint rifle in 308 with a Leupold vari-x 3- 6.5x20x50 long range tactical scope. Also comes with 62 rounds of 168 gr 308 match ammo. Asking $1400 for the whole thing. Scope itself retails for almost $1300 and is an excellent scope at 200 yrds you can watch your bullets hit the target. I have only put 30 rds through it and I cleaned after every shot. Rifle was taken out and cleaned and oiled every few months but has sit in my gun cabinet for 5 yrs. Only serious inquiries please. Also I live in Binghamton NY.

I use pyrodex pellets because I don't know anybetter But from what I have read 777 is a cleaner shooting powder without all the mess. There is an article on http://www.chuckhawks.com/index2h.muzzleloader.htm that compares all the powders that is rather interesting. Say's BH 209 is the best. Pyrodex is nasty and can be really bad for your gun if you dont scrub the heck out of it everytime you shoot it. I can't keep the inside of my breechplug from rusting up no matter what I put in it using pyrodex. Think I will change to 777 pellets this yr to see how it works.

Had a young basket racked 7 point chase a doe right under my stand a few yrs back. He had potential to be a nice one the next yr so I shot the doe and he ran off. I like to think this buck was the same deer at 3.5 yrs old. I shot him 100 yrds from where I passed the 7 point up the yr before. There racks were very similar this one is just a lot bigger. Might not be the same deer but it could be. So unless they have a nice rack I will let them pass and fill out my doe tags during gun and muzzleloader for meat.

Agree, when there is a lot of bucks it works quite well. I have called in lots of bucks and a herd of doe while rattleing. The Doe seem interested in seeing who is fighting I guess. The key is starting out with a simulated small pushing mach with grunts. Then sitting back for a while and seeing what comes in down wind of you and make sure your paying attention to beyond 50 yrds. Have had some come in downwind of me 100 yrds away. I couldn't tell what they were so I would grunt and use the can and that was usually all I would need to get them to come right in. 90% of the time they will circle down wind before getting closer. I have only had bucks come charging in 3 times with a full battle, breaking branches and kicking leaves to make it sound real. I had a nice ten point come sneaking in down wind one time after rattling and of course I was looking the other direction and grunted a few times and was woken up by a loud snort to my left. I stood as still as possible but the game was up and he left in a hurry.

Well then dump in some zebra muscles to clear it back up and some gobies to eat the zebra muscles and everything will be back in balance again.

Boy it's a real shame his rack hasn't grown any in the last few weeks. You don't need to be shooting any dinks like that. Now where is this tree stand at?

I was stalking along one day with my bow and happend to meet up with a doe who wasn't paying attention. I shot her at 20 yrds on the ground with a 4 blade muzzy. When the arrow hit her she bolted right into a huge Oak tree face first and never got back up. I think from hit to stop kicking was under 10 sec. I love 4 blade broadheads but I hate tuning my arrows for using them.

I had a nice buck come in one time and I shot him on a quartering angle out of a tree stand. The arrow went in on one side and stuck in the leg on the other side and he mad a mad dash for the edge of the hill and all I thought was no not down to the bottom of the hill please. He stopped at the edge of the hill and I couldn't see him anymore but then he started coughing and came tearing right back at me and died right at the bottom of my tree. I was so happy I didn't have to drag him back up that hill, My dad and I had a hard time getting him into the back of my truck.

Gators are illegal to own in NY but just like fireworks you can go right across the boarder into PA in Hallstead and there are Gators in the pet stores there that people go and buy, then let them go when they get to big.

Yes a matchlock pre dates the flint lock. It uses a pc of burning hemp rope that is lowered, when you pull the trigger, into your pan setting off your powder. There are videos on youtube of people shooting them and hunting with them pretty interesting.

There made to go through armor, Helmets, trees, sides of houses, cinderblocks, and anything else that gets in the way. They do not perform well on soft flesh, small hole in small hole out. The Rangers in Somalia complained about there FMJ bullets not killing fast enough, they were pumping 5 or 6 rounds out of there machine guns into guys just to get them to stop. FMJ will kill a deer or yote in time but will take longer especially on deer and you dont want them running over the next hill before they expire. I prefere in there tracks which is what you get with bullets with massive expansion, Lots of trama and blood loss. Military bullets are made to kill if placed in the right place but more to wound. If it takes more people to pull wounded off the battlefield thats less soldiers pulling triggers. Also the point about them richoing, everywhere is a good point. I can remember being on some live fire ranges in the Army and seeing tracers go along way after they hit a rock.

how bout a matchlock season if you really want to go primative I would have no problem with caplock, just no scopes, iron sights only.

There are 2 others I found but they have a bit of language in them so I didn't post them here. 1 guy catches a rifle round to the top of his head taking off his hat and the other gets a 270 round through his forearm.

Looks like it would def be a challenge, you would have to make sure you are down wind all the time, at least it would be easy to tell if you were down wind or not by your match smoke. And def no hunting in the rain

We went through there a few weeks ago doing the wine trail and probably got a pic of the same deer, they seem to be very photogenic My wife said they look more like a Goat than a deer.

I'm all for it!! Start bow oct 1st, then the week before gun have a few days of primative flintlock muzzleloading any sex ( and bow also).
