Ok just a question now. If I go get my drawlength measured it will be the same no matter where my anchor is?
-
I have a bow with a 29" drawlength and I shot off the string. If I now put on a d-loop the bow's drawlength would be to long for me and I would need to shorten the drawlength.
-
The bows drawlength doesn't change that"s not the point. The point is you should be getting a different drawlength bow! WNYBuckhunter, How do you get your drawlength measured
-
But you don't change anchor point! So bow drawlength is shorter. Your anchor point should be at the place that is comfortable consistent and accurate for you. If you change anchor point you either weren"t at the right spot to begin with or you changed it to the wrong spot.
-
If you keep a consistent anchor point, which you should (an anchor point being where your hand and jaw come together), the difference between using a d-loop and using a release off a string changes the bows drawlength Is there any arguing this?
-
Confused why so many change their anchor point. Isn't anchor point where you draw your hand to your face and where it consistently rests and is "anchored" ? I always thought this doesn't change.

Also on Long Island we get checked a lot by DEC. Make sure: its non toxic shot plugged shotgun (no more then 3 round) duck stamp and license signed Have HIP # back tag on life preserver "ON" for moving boats Never had a problem, always be courteous mostly routine checks.

I am from LI so down here there is no course other then hunting course. I believe in some areas upstate you might have to take a waterfowl identification course but I don't know for sure. Get hunting license online Get Federal duck stamp from post office Register for HIP (Harvest Info Program) again online through DEC website Don't know anything about Oneida county Seasons are different throughout state check DEC website also check bag limits and types of ducks you are allowed to shoot and how many of each Depending on where you hunt you might need boat, waders, blinds etc there is an endless list of stuff they sell for different types of waterfowl hunting Enjoy

Also to make it interesting NO coyote sightings and very few tracks, which is unusual for us. Could be the reason for more fawns/deer.
-
to add there were more deer then usual by us this year. but at least half of the deer were fawns. No decent bucks seen or on trail cams through out the year.
-
Different by us. Deer seemed to be in groups this year. Used to have mostly single deer/tracks with a few pair. This year there was a group of 6 and a group or two of 4 together. You either saw them or saw nothing. Very few single tracks and only a two single deer seen a spike which came to visit everyone and one 4 point that should up once in front of my brother. All deer were small.

Beman ICS hunters always worked for me
-
Interesting. Didn't know I could use regular season tag following year early archery
-
"This year I could have legally shot 4 bucks." How?
-
Wind speed higher then temperature for Sunday!

"Believe it or not, DEP police have issued traffic tickets. Although they work for New York City, they apparently have police powers statewide. Crazy, but true. From what I have heard, a few years back DEP was setting up speed traps on roads in the Catskills. This caused some friction with either the NYSP or local police and the practice was ended" That's right they used to do on Rt 28 by Ashokan Reservoir

"last time I checked a button buck had nuts does don't." I thought Almond Joy's had nuts and Mounds don't?
-
Don't know if that's exit wound or not. Looks like coyotes got to it. Why do people right away assume it was intentionally left. not tracked etc?
-
Grow, I believe meatmanager has one either sex bow/muzzle then one antlerless bow/muzzle. Thats what you get one you get both archery and muzzleloader licences they can be used either season
-
3 and it must be plugged. So it can't hold more then 2 in magazine and 1 in chamber. They will check.

How does the state even come up with a population #
-
http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/37304.html Even the state admits there are ares that need an increase in deer population. Meatmanager, My family puts in over 50 days of archery and more during gun season. We have over 200 years of combined hunting experience with 6 hunters on the same land. I would think we know a little more then you about whats happening here! But believe what you will

"It is possible there are fewer deer in your area, but highly unlikely...it's more likely a nearby property is a better daytime sanctuary and your property gets visited more at night." I love people who think they know my property better then me! "Shooting does Strengthens the herd." Or wipes it out. That's what's wrong with statewide management. THERE ARE LESS DEER BY ME!!
-
"Some mornings the full moon is up, the skies are crystal clear and one can see very well 20 minutes before sunrise. Other mornings there is no moon and dark clouds making good visibility difficult even at sunrise." So true. This is why hunting hours won't change. There was a big difference between Saturday morning and Sunday morning this weekend.

Definitely less deer now then 30 years ago on my property. Its seems to be getting better the last couple years but I am sure DEC will start upping the DMP's. Why is weather always the excuse? Seems that's what they say every year.
