I don't know Dom, I haven't seen a pic posted here yet that looks like it was made by anything other than a buck. It's a little ironic you should post the bear thought today though. I went out for a short hike this evening and found fresh claw marks in this tree from what I assume would have been a bear. I looked them over pretty closely and could tell something with some weight to it had been hanging from there. It was certainly no coon or porky. We don't see many bear around my area except one or two that pass through each spring. Seeing this kinda got me feeling all excited hoping to bump into the sucker while I had the camera. I'm hoping he sticks around and shows himself now that the weather is turning nicer.

Congrats- that is a top notch rig right there! My arms hurt just looking at that sucker! You bird watchers are a nutz bunch, lol Should be a great summer hauling that bad boy around! Can't wait to see some more shots from that baby!

I take it this is not a Bigma or Tamzooka you're shooting here?

Sweet shots! My favorite is the green head shoveling water with his bill! Do you shoot from a blind or are these birds just really tolerant to you being there?

That's funny! Most serious shed hunters wouldn't de-face a shed antler find in ANY way! I've gotten over that stage and put 4 new lamps together this weekend, lol Sometimes I can hear them scream when the saw teeth cut into their bones.... it hurts me too, but I try to block that out now! I'd rather see someone else enjoy them instead of watching their color fade and sit in a bunch of covered bins until someone wants to look at them anymore. Quite honestly, they're just taking up too much room in the first place, and secondly I've come to the conclusion that shed hunting is more about "the hunt" for me than it is in collecting them. That's why I take pictures of them all! Nice haul sambone!

Pretty darn cool Zem! You even got the slug shell incorporated into it. Good job on the whitening and a nice choice of lumber for the plaque!

We sure have come a long way since plinking old bottles and cans!

I think the bad guy looks GREAT! You definitely have career potential in drawing chalk outlines on the sidewalk if your day job ever falls through!
-
Even the sillouette guy in the convenient coffin still has a smile on his face! It MUST have been a fun day for all! No broken glass or bullet holes in the door panels is always a plus!

Happy Easter guys! The Easter bunny has been busy trying to find a few eggs himself, but he's too busy playing hide the sausage, lol

Organizations and meetings have never been my thing. I've never been one to hoot and holler hoping someone would listen or hear me. Set the rules, tell me what I can shoot, and when I can shoot it and I'll comply. The DEC has been pretty consistent in accomplishing that so I'm not to concerned. Deer hunting doesn't consume my life anymore so I just go with the flow. My free time gets used for much more enjoyable things rather than sitting around listening to whatever other petty things everyone else is so upset about. It's all good on my end, and I can always find something else to do if in fact changes in deer hunting ever make it un-enjoyable for me any longer.

Me and my buddies used to fish them in Cazenovia creek in Cheektowaga. There was a trailer park on the edge of the creeks with a landslide of debris that had been tossed over the side. That must have been like a big chum pile for them, because that's were we used to nail 'em with corn or cheeseballs. Maybe they thought it was fresh sewer runoff, lol I wouldn't recommend eating ANY species out of their though!

This spot used to be the town dump WAY back before my time. It's off a poorly maintained seasonal road that doesn't see a lot of traffic due to it's condition. Very narrow road with lots of missing chunks, very steep and winding so max speed is around 20mph tops. Apparently some idiots never got the memo that the dump CLOSED, and continue to toss their crap over the ravine just off the shoulder. I need to get Lawdwaz down here to help haul some of this crap away, lol I check here every year because someone has been very consistent with dumping carcasses down here even leaving antlers attached to some of them. For all I know, it could be roadkills tossed here by the DOT. I dunno, and don't really care about the deer that will rot away..., it's the other stuff that bothers me. Anyhow, I grabbed a stinky set of 3pt antlers from one of the 3 carcasses I found down there today. I can't believe how pathetic it's been that I've resorted to shed hunting a dump, but it produced some antlers again, lol

Will do.

I got it cleaned up good and put away for another summer. I'm confident it cleaned up nicely and will suffer no ill effects. I'll send one or two down range as usual before season starts to confirm all is still well.

Looks good Joe.... or do I call you Mr. Vice President now! All it needs now is a politics section and you'll be on your way to greatness. Maybe lock that background image in on your home page so it doesn't scroll with the entire screen and has a smoother flow. Glad you found some new friends to hang around with. You weren't getting anywhere here with us,lol

Never really seen ticks as a big problem around here. I may have plucked 3 of them off me tops over may years and miles. Found a few on deer in the past, but not loads of them as some of you experience. This will probably come back to bite me (pun), but I take zero precautions thus far.

Ohhhh snap.... my lamps make me money..., can your GF do that for you? Post a pic or two. You've seen my lamps already...obviously. Maybe we can work out some kinda swap?

I'd dump her while you have the chance! Let us know how she takes it,lol
-
Be careful what you say before you find yourself on her 1'st list of things to get rid of,lol

Now the more I analyze the picture I have posted here.., the more I think it was hit on two separate occasions by the barks coloration. I know all about the "sign post rub" and all of that crap, but this one doesn't fit into that into that category IMO. Right on a heavily traveled trail, but not exactly a territorial magnet tree. It was in a no-hunting park, so really no big deal other than looking for the suckers antlers.

Lets see some of the sign that gets you all excited about next season. I've got a ton of pics like this, but never had any use for them other than gawking over myself. Found this one today that got me thinking about the topic. The view from the front isn't too uncommon here, but the wrap-around 2'nd pic got me all buzzed up, and it was almost identical on the other side!
