I let my beer decide what it's in the mood for and try not to get too pushy. Now if you guys really wanna fight. I usually fall asleep or start crying before I get a chance to get too angry, lol

This is where all the happy drunks hang out! The mean ones are roaming around the rest of the site!
  3. I spent most of my time doing home work, studying, and memorizing verses from the Bible. I seldom got out unless it was to deliver fresh picked flowers to the little old ladies at the nursing home. On my way home I would stop and play with all the little kids at the orphanage. That was only after I returned all the empties I picked up along the street and dropped the change into a homeless mans collection cup. You guys must have lived on the wild side of town with the kids I wasn't allowed to play with, lol
  4. Not me. I'll just grab my ML and join in! (wearing my blaze orange of course)
  5. When I hunted with my sister for the first time last spring turkey and fall deer seasons, I tried to take ALL the work out of it for her! Granted, she's 41 years old and could have done most of it herself, but I know what it's like to be thrown into an uncomfortable situation with the fear of screwing up even the simplest tasks. I tried to take all that worry out of it for her and all she had to do was show up and hike in..... and bring me lunch, lol One day she even showed up early and realized when she got here that she forgot her gun! What can you do besides laugh about it! We hunted the same way you do and had an absolute BLAST in the woods even on days we didn't see or hear a thing. Hunting really is a lot of fun when you don't take it so seriously, and that's what gets newbies hooked are the good times not the kills!
  6. They can lower the age all they want, but I highly doubt it will do much good replacing recruitments with drop outs. Fact is, most guys wont look outside their immediate family to recruit new hunters. It was mentioned in another post here recently by Culvertcreek. There is just to much focus on the individual hunters expectations that don't involve the tradition no more. Deer hunting used to be a social activity that lasted for days, weeks, and months. Now we get so hung up on individual deer, social media status, and self accomplishments measured in inches, and nobody cares about if the next generation follows along any more as it will cut down on the competition. If you want to get the youth, or even newbies involved in the pastime, you need to make it feel entertaining, educational, and not like work. I don't think many modern day deer hunters are capable of that, as much as I hate to say it.
  7. Figures..... ONLY a chick would say THAT!
  8. Psssssst..... wrong season! I'm sure Lou has a boat load of great prizes that wont disappoint.... as always! I just try to help out when I can.

Showing one of my Buds how to build another lamp tonight. Glad to have found out about this holiday before it slipped away. This is about as exotic as it gets for me. I do some of my best work under the influence, lol
  10. I'd like to pitch in a little something for the prize pile this year Lou. You're one of the few guys that actually gets involved with promoting the youth hunts and doesn't just talk about it. Your motivation and generosity are appreciated especially considering you do this for total strangers kids on this site. Good luck to all the kiddos, and good for you Lou putting this contest together again!
  11. I was never crazy 'bout the guys tunes personally, but I know he left an impression on country music beyond what I understand. Without the legends, we wouldn't have what we hear today... like it, or not!
  12. Good deal- buckle up and enjoy the rest of the ride! Sounds like you just hit a little pot hole in life.
  13. Well if that's what YOU see without even looking closer, then clearly it must be so. How do we know this ever so obvious "missing toe" was lost due to frostbite, and didn't get blown off by some good ol' southern boy unloading a few rounds of 7 shot at the poor little migrating song bird? Seems all you like to do is argue with folks around here who don't openly side with your agenda. Dang man.., you don't even have the courtesy to tell the guy "nice pics" before you go off playing the blame game taking a poke at birdwatchers and feeders being the reason for the dove missing the toe that he still has,lol You need a hobby bro.
  14. Sweet shots man! If I had a rig like that, NOBODY would ever touch it- haha! I was relieved to see that dove does indeed have ALL it's toes when I enlarged the pics.., so I wouldn't worry too much about keeping the feeder filled. Great to see you're getting plenty of rewards out of your investment and sharing them here with us!
  15. Very sharp.... and organized!
  16. I used to have a combination call... peacock, pileated woodpecker, and hawk scream all in one. I think it may have even done coyote howls. You just tooted different notes into it for the variations in sounds. Can't remember who made it, but yes, sometimes it worked. Lost in the woods forever years ago.
  17. Single bead front site for me so I don't get too crazy. I'll plug this guy once or twice before season and see what rolls out the hole in his tail.,lol BTW- this is a 5 year old jake.... they are tough birds.
  18. Some ugly SOB's in this thread... I got no problem being associated with something like that. I must have been MIA when this thread came to life. Good resurrection Larold, lol!

Very rarely do I ever get to see the mommas. The kits are usually are out playing while momma is out hunting down dinner. If I don't see them out, I'll stay away assuming they are in the den with her and she wont let them out while I'm there anyhow. I also try not to stick around longer than an hour when I do see them out. When I was running cams over the dens last spring, they showed momma coming and going every hour, on the hour like clockwork. I wouldn't want them to miss their feeding time.

Pretty much. These are just the close to home dens I had time for today out the back door across a couple hundred acres. We'd be walking a while if I checked on ALL the dens I've discovered over the years.

April 25'th of last spring. They should be peeking out of their holes in the next couple weeks here. I just checked in on 3 red dens today and two of them are active again this year. Pretty sure I got a yote den pegged too, but I didn't get a chance to check that one today.

That's just the way life goes sometimes my friend.... You gotta take the good with the bad sometimes.... I blame the trout fisherman for this travesty! Damn home wreckers! We had such a good relationship going on until now, I'll miss her, but I know her heart will find it's way back to me!
