Looks like March will be the beginning of the end for a lot of deer around here in 9h. I was just down this exact creek bottom trail yesterday afternoon just to stretch my legs. This is my daily hike with the camera until the snow melts back a bit for me to get into the timber more. Some time between yesterday and this evening, this little button buck bedded down in the hemlocks and died right in my boot tracks from yesterday. At this rate, I'm preparing for one of the worst dead deer seasons I've ever seen and I haven't even come close to accumulating any kind of serious hike time or mileage. Sorry for another dead deer pic, but I think you all get the point about how this winter is unfolding here. Like I said this happened sometime within the last 24hrs. Bare ground tomorrow couldn't reverse winters strangle hold at this point. The damage has already been done, and now they are dropping like flys. Some of you guys that like to bash on hunters for killing fawns and yearlings really need to get a grip if you think this is a pleasant way to die. I've seen it.., and it's NOT!

If you've never seen a good train wreck before, you might wanna keep an eye on this, lol!

The best way to get a fox out of the road is to HONK at him!

Out for a short hike yesterday when I found this little yearling surrendering to the harshness of winter. I'm sure this little deer was frightened out of it's mind by me, but near the end she just seemed to accept the fact that she was going to die and didn't fight it off any longer. Things got a little hairy when I crawled under the tree with her. The shot of her standing up in my face was the last shot I took before she put the hooves to me and decided to run through me instead of around me,lol

Nope.... I'm crazier than that bear lady, lol!

Pretty cool- I saw this the other day and couldn't help but think how this guy probably wished he had one more shot at capturing this crazy sight in focus! Those once in a life time encounters happen so fast and only last a brief moment. They can really catch you by surprise and make you question your skills behind a camera when you miss an action shot like that. Neat series of some wild behavior he caught though!

Last year I started calling and decoying them in to the camera the 2'nd week of April. By May 1'st I had a pretty good idea of where they were hanging from the limbs, and where they went after fly down. I enjoy "shooting" them in April more than May, and they're always a little more cooperative early on!

Some bears are very nice and would never eat people. See... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VeV_YJMMmWk -
I don't know why, but for some reason I had to dig this pic out for this thread.

Ice Dam............................................

Sprung a leak Sunday morning by the dogs water bowl, so I just blamed it on him and mopped it up. Later in the day I realized his mess was growing so up to the roof-top I went where I found a pond of water 5ft up from the roof edge under 3ft of snow. It's been kept relatively clean all year (4x's) but this last build up, thaw, and re-freeze did a real number on it. I got enough of the dam chipped away to create a beautiful waterfall that cascaded down the porch stairs. Then the sun got me melted right down to the shingles but never put a dent in the dam or the iced over stair case...., damn dam, lol! Last night we froze deep again and got another blanket of snow and I have a new glacier of icicle snot hanging form the channel I picked clean today. Let "March Madness" begin! -
Would that be an erection that lasts longer than 4hrs,lol Me neither, but my understanding is it can be caused by ANY surgery where scar tissue is involved. If Pygmy was a big boozer, his liver may be covered in the stuff even if he never had a surgery in his life. Too many scenarios and hypotheticals to list without argument, that's why I say check with your doctor when things don't seem right.

It (as well as many other things) can also increase your potassium to dangerously high levels to which you should modify your diet accordingly. (Hyperkalemia) In that case your doctor may advise you to stay away from foods high in potassium which could be causing the muscle cramps in the first place. Remember your heart is also muscle, and when that baby gets a cramp in it, the doctors refer to that as cardiac arrest. Talk to your doctor and get some blood work done Pygmy. This is the LAST place I would come for serious medical advice.

I really am! Just making up for lost time since I haven't been on the trails lately. This has turned out to be a great way to pass some time until the critters come out of hibernation and I'm starting to get the hang of it now. I think it works best if you make yourself look as ugly as possible so you look like a true "forest creature",lol. Here's a few more I did tonight for practice. I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for more oppertunties that may work for this in the future and I definitely need to find some new models!

Yes I think you missed part 1!

LMAO- guaranteed to be a #1 seller!

I wouldn't expect nothing less from you "pecker-heads",lol

One day I came home from the store to find someone had turned 3 of my chickens into pancakes in front of my house. A 4'th chicken must have bounced off the grill and landed partially plucked in my driveway..... then he bounced back on the grill with some BB-Q sauce, lol

Thanks everyone! This is stepping into unchartered territory for me so I didn't know if I was too far out there or not yet. Doc- my Nikon D-3200 has an in camera setting that allows for overlapping the photos. That's the easy part. Finding two or more images that work well together gets tricky so I find I do a lot of extra useless picture taking of some really strange things, lol. (not that I have a problem with that) I start out by blowing out the background of my subject by overexposing it in the first photo. I shot these skulls on a snow bank for that reason. Then I take a few random pattern shots that have lots of negative space in the scenes at different angles. (treetops, limbs, leaves.., etc.) Once the images are layed over one another, all the white areas that overlap wont hold color and you're left with the patterns on the properly exposed areas of the image. For me it's more trial and error than anything right now but I have a ton of pics to work with. I'm sure there is software out there to do this with a standard digital camera, but I'm not much of a computer geek when it comes to editing photos like that. I've also been shooting primarily in RAW format lately, which gives me a lot more control over other adjustments in the scene during post processing.

Thanks for the feedback guys! It's still a new technique to me, that's why I was wondering if there was any appeal to this kind of stuff. I'm already cookin' up a few new ideas. I'm kinda diggin' #2 and #3 myself, but I'm kinda weird like that so my opinion doesn't count, lol
