On the bug thing...Is that fact? I mean it makes sense I guess. But does a warm winter really affect how many bugs are flying around in June?
-
Warmer with this little snow?
-
I guess every area is different. I do not bow hunt in suburban areas, so do not know much about how deer act in the woods as opposed to in someones yard. (besides not ever seeing deer that did not just take off when I was in the woods next to houses.) But I used to squirrel hunt behind a friends house. They would not be afraid of you in the yard at all. One step into the woods, and those same squirrels had a whole different attitude on seeing a person. Never really understood that, and have always wondered why. I guess they know somehow you do not belong there?

Very cool. -
Yeah, me too, I resemble that remark!

I have the Ruger LCP. It is true that it has very poor sights. I am ok with that right now. I use it when I want to through something in my pocket, or in warm weather when concealing anything large is not easy. There is a company that make after market sights for it. Here is me plinking, aiming from the cameras view screen. (Not to easy ha ha.) Oh that is video if you click it...(how do you post a video directly to site??)

I saw that one. That was great. The 50 cal against water? nope. Anyone who has shot water jugs stacked in a line already knows this though. Water stops bullets fast!
-
I would get a 44. Ruger or S&W. if you are looking for a revolver. It is pretty much the all around whitetail round for revolvers. And plenty of ammo to choose from.
-
That is a really interesting backup piece by the way...
-
Not for you mr. Zhe Wiz, but for the others new to muzzle loader rules in NYS. Do not carry a pistol as a backup during ML season. That is not permitted. During gun season, it is fine. Hate being "that guy," but thought it would be good for some of the new ML hunters out there.

I do not really care if someone wants to shoot their pet deer behind a fence. Just not for me.

Update on fatal shooting Of Sheridan NY Fire Chief
Ford replied to Deerthug's topic in General Chit Chat
I have had my eyes play tricks on me in the woods before. Sometimes seeing "Deer" that were never there. A shadow or log, when light hits a certain way...Thats why they make binoculars though. I would never just point a rifle at anything I was not 100% sure on..........Common sense. -
Man, I tried to read all the posts in this thread...I tried. So, after all the BS on the first few posts, this is the deal---> Guy might have shot a tame deer legally. ok.

"There is no truth except Allah"

I would not usually comment on on such a thread, because I pretty much "gave up." The news clips of "ordinary" muslims dancing in the streets (9/11) all over the world says enough for me. The deafening silence of most (muslims) since then, says it all. There are a few, very few, who have come out in opposition to their radical bretheran. The moderate ones deny that it was even muslims that perpetrated 9/11. They say the Jews were resopnsible. And they believe it. I actually have talked to a few, I do not try to argue, what is the point? If there was some kind of poll that would ask muslims "who was responsible for 9/11?" I would guess that 95% would say Israel. -
Same.

I did not get anything. I passed on a small buck that my buddy shot a half hour later...lol! I saw a few and spooked a few...It was pretty quiet. I did have a buck ram my tree. Never saw him as he came from behind. Yes he actually ramed my tree. Scared the crap outa me. Ha! I put a dab of some doe esturus (sp) on the base. I was thinking as more of a cover scent than attractant. Well, I guess it was a great attractant lol. Congrats on the six point. My land butts up against state, but I mostly stay on mine...To many man-critters on the state land near me!

Hey whats up. Check out Amityville on google maps. That will pretty much answer your question...As in none. (unless you have a duck boat) You could travel east, maybe 45 minutes, and there is some DEC land, but you have to sign in at the Ridge check Station, usually. Check this out http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/8373.html Oh, my camp is up by you, North Pitcher/ Lincklaen area.

I will tell you one thing, if I was planning to go to NYC with a firearm, I would research the laws pertaining to it. I would not want to be arrested. As everyone knows, ignorance of the law is no defense. At least they let him off easy, that is what the courts are for.
-
You can think what you want about NYC gun laws. But the law is the law. What did he expect?
-
Mike, why bother getting the permit?
