  1. I know nothing about crossbows but is it possible to pull the string back unevenly causing one limb to load more than the other.? That and spine are the only 2 thinks that would come to mind but I have never shot let alone tuned a crossbow. Like John said, mechanicals may cover the flaw.
  2. I know he just killed a buck. Congrats!
  3. Little late in season but my recurve accuracy went south 2 weeks ago. Decided to scrap anchor I have worked on all last year and go back to my anchor point from past two seasons which held up well under pressure. Getting back to better shooting again. Shots 1-3 starting at 7, 15 and then 22 at lunch. She may be back out again this weekend if it holds up the rest of this week. That's the love hate relationship with traditional shooting. Like mastering the golf swing, not easy, perhaps impossible. Lol. And not every effort to improve pans out. But I ain't giving up.
  4. If one is looking for the best value, Mora knives are touch to beat.
  5. Must be ONE BIG BUCK as he is still tied up dragging. lol
  6. I have done it on occasion. Not so much anymore. I don't want to alert the deer to my presence. I think its a good idea to think about when you would draw though, especially for newer hunters. Not getting busted is a big part of being successful.
  7. I agree. I would tell him no access to reach stands (for reasons you explained) but he has retrieval rights. If he doesn't adhere to this rule, then he will lose retrieval rights.
  8. He has a bit of a gut and brisket. Plus looks muscular enough up front. 3.5 I think although this angle isn't the best. Plus, his rack mass would be better than a typical 2 year old around here. Regardless, a shooter in my book.
  9. Thought this may help someone. Was getting my recurve ready to hunt again. Put a good shot on the 3D with a broadhead and followed it with a FP that hit the back edge of the BH dislodging it from the arrow and pushing it further in the target. I didn't want to cut it out as it was a new insert. So after failed attempts at trying to fish it out with needle nose pliers, I used a long socket extension (wrench cup side towards BH) and was able to drive it out the other side. Minimal damage to the insert and BH. Just an FYI and hopefully helpful to someone
  10. Spyderco sharpmaker makes sharpening really easy. I use the rods freehand on my 2 blade BHs too.
  11. In the end, it really doesn't matter. Great buck by any standard.
  12. That's a big big or take. Lol I bet you are with 2". Great buck for sure. Your brother must be thrilled. What were G2 lengths? Must be a bit shorter than I guessed. He sure looked 5" bigger than my 8 from last season.
  13. I much prefer a sharp knife TF. Makes things go faster. I don't split the sternum either.
  14. S30v will get razor sharp and hold an edge through lots of use. So far, my favorite blade material.
  15. Saw 6 doe and put a hole in the blind. Guess that's a good hunt. Lol
  16. I have a few benchmades. They all stay very sharp.
  17. They almost had their noses inside though. Kinda exciting.
  18. First time hunting one in several years. Not a big fan either and this confirmed it.
  19. I literally told my buddy David when we set it, I was nervous that would happen. Sure enough, first shot. 3 doe and none had a clue I was 5yds away so the brush in job worked but man that was horrible. Between that and not shooting on the big boy, it's not a stellar start.
  20. Boy this season is starting great. Anyone recognize this? i clip the blind with 3 deer at about 5 yds Didn't touch the doe It was loud None of us had a clue what happened
