  1. The only opinion that really matters is yours. Good luck with him.
  2. Did you send the payment as a gift? If not, initiate a complaint through paypal. They are good about getting your money back. I would assume that with good feedback like that, he will follow through. The complaint may prompt him sooner.
  3. To some extent, it also depends on the property I end up hunting. Might avoid the drag on one and one has been hammered by nuisance permits all summer so any survivors may get a pass for now.
  4. That makes me feel good. My last two opening day does were huge ole girls. True swamp donkeys.
  5. If the opportunity arises. Kind of a game time call for me. Last few years, I have taken one on the opener but who knows.
  6. I guess that's true. and I still didn't post the photo.
  7. Don't know anything about the area, but with most ridges, look for bedding and trails on the leeward side of predominant wind 1/3 down from the top. Keep thermals in mind when setting up (hunt high in the AM and low in the PM). Saddles are great too. Wind tends to swirl in the valleys. Good luck.
  8. Down to shooting a single arrow a few times a day. Cold shots are all that matter now. I figure if hit the bull when I let the dog out early in the am, should be a piece of cake when my eyes are fully opened. Worked this morning. Lol
  9. Larry302 shared his secret for killing big bucks. Pop a fireball and by the time its done, a buck will show. I don't think the scientific basis for this phenomenon has been determined.
  10. Very cool grampy. Looking forward to the hero shot when he knocks one down.
  11. Congrats although I thought you just got engaged from the title. Lol
  12. Rates can be absurd in NYC but those charging $1500/hr are still few, but they exist. What firm Biz?
  13. Is there such a thing Eddie? What do you call 7,000 lawyers at the bottom of the ocean? a good start .... badabop
  14. Haha. Walmart is scrambling. Doubt I will see a single arrow.
  15. Thanks Stone. Grabbed 2 dozen even though I shoot other arrows. Hard to beat for $10/dozen even if just for stumping.
  16. There are plenty of areas of NY with great deer populations. My preference would be WNY and finger lakes or southern tier, not the ADK although some hunters are great at getting it done there. Just tougher to hunt with the vast expanses and lower deer populations from what I hear. Also, I think bow hunting is particularly tough in the ADK.
  17. Well thanks for all the suggestions. After a bit of cleaning this morning, my conclusion is that the service tech was full of crap. Found the manual on line, cleaned and lit the pilot, cleaned the glass and it's been running fine all morning. Great news, saved $1200, bad news, once again my trust in the integrity of others is diminished a bit. Why won't many people just do a good job for a fair price. Happy to pay for that but hate being swindled. It's the reason I typically try to do most repairs myself. Kinda sad.
  18. I also once played monopoly with Warren buffet. He was a poor loser!
  19. what kind of NYer are you Biz? I don't like baseball much, but pull for the Yanks because my 97 year old gramps watched nearly every game when he was alive.
  20. On behalf of all carpeted bed sissy truck drivers, welcome!
  21. I met Hershel. He is a nice guy too. I also had the displeasure of shaking hands with Pres. Clinton. He was at a resort we were staying at in Vegas. Came up to us (probably since my wife was staring at him) and I felt obligated to at least stand and shake his hand. He was very pleasant but I didn't like his actions as Pres.
  22. I have a Henry 30-30. Beautiful gun and very accurate. Highly recommended. My buddy had some serious accuracy issues with a marlin. I would avoid one.
