  1. Trad1, Where are you located. I have a few extra brand new ones. You can have them.
  2. House cat! Ive been seeing a lot of pics of Lion in Uniondale PA though. Things huge! I don't know if its all the same kitty but They have on video at Elk Mt. Trail cam pics 10 mins away in Uniondale.
  3. GO BIG OR GO HOME!!! Just Kidding but I do try to get the old lady. I like testing myself by waiting for the fat lady to give me a nice shot.
  4. To busy playing on my phone to notice the buck in front of me and then in my haste banged my bow off the stand and spooked it.
  5. I tried the Rage once last year and wasn't that impressed. They shot great but made a much louder whistle than my Reapers and they opened in my quiver. This morning when I filled my quiver I thought about using Rage and figured why risk it why I have had nothing but incredible results with the reapers. By 8:30am, 30 yards from where I shot her I had a nice doe piled up. Not to say that the Rage wouldn't have done the same but why fix whats not broken. I love the Reapers and have never heard anyone complain about them. Rage you have some that love them and some that hate them.
  6. Why are people jumping down this guys throat for asking about shooting at 60 yards? I don't shoot that far hunting. Most of my deer have been within 8-12 yards but I spend must of my time practicing far away (30-40) because its more challenging and makes a 10 or 20 yard shot seem a lot easier. I have shot as far back as 80 yards for no other purpose than it being fun and challenging even though I would never shoot a deer or anything that far. Should I stop shooting my rifle at 400 yards because I never shoot that far?
  7. I started with a T-handle and had tendency to pluck the string and pull my shot. I shoot a lot better with the wrist strap but its all about user preference.
  8. I switched to Grim Reapers a few years ago and absolutely love them. I bought a bunch of Rage 2 blade from a guy on this sight who was switching. I only shot one deer with the Rage but wasn't at all impressed. I have gotten 7 deer with the Grim Reapers and thought they were great and have had zero problems!
  9. I think First-Light pegged it spot on
  10. I think they are another gimmick.
  11. I never recommend breaking the law but I look at it like speeding. Don't do it but if I'm seriously injured, I want to get to the hospital asap and damn the speed limit.
  12. Any reason you aren't using the tradition 10 yard increments like 10,20,30,40 as to odd numbers? Are you using a older bow or light draw?(Just wondering because must bows seem to hit about the same point out to 20 yards)
  13. Get those nocks with the little light in them because a bloody fletch regardless of the color is harder to find because the bright colors are dulled with that blood and if you missed, leave the arrow, the shaft must have been bent in the first place
  14. I've been using my Martin Moab now for several years and I have set up exactly how I want it and have been lucky enough to have 100% success rate. Just for the hell of it I was looking at new bows to possibly upgrade and there was really nothing that impressed me all that much. I feel like the technology hasn't really changed all that much since I got my bow. There seems to be a little lag time before you notice a significant change in the technology. Obviously my bow in the 90's compared to now is completely different but my bow compared to my buddies brand new one had nothing noticeably different.
  15. I like shooting at different spots on the target because I hate wrecking my arrows and tearing vanes! What distance are you shooting?
  16. I always thought bright vanes would make the arrow easier to find but then I realized after they pass through the deer the blood kinda camo's the arrow and dulls the bright orange and yellow that I use and it blends it with the fall foliage. My father always used drab color fletchings just to keep everything camoish. I'm going with it doesn't make much of a difference just user preference.
  17. You don't need a license to shoot but I know in PA(Unsure about NY) During hunting season you need to have a range clearly set up and cant just walk around the woods shooting apples off trees even on private property. When I'm on the range I don't have my license but I tend to have it walking in the woods with my rifle just for the heck of it.
  18. Since Shawn only makes head shots I don't even see why he's participating in this convo... The answer to this is the common sense one. You use the tag you intended on. The game warden is smart enough to know you are telling the truth by simply taking the harvested animals temp to get a rough estimate of time of kill if he suspected foul play. Bonus points for a creative question!
  19. Noodle even better for yea, The Pump and Pantry off 81 at the New Milford exit right before the NY border is .10-.15cents cheaer than right up the hill in Montrose where I'm from.
  20. I guarantee there will be people sleeping in cars and DEC turning people away in the morning at cranberry mt and the great swamp tonight but by Monday it will be pretty much empty. Its like that every year here.
  21. Grew up hunting PA my whole life and never realized our laws were different then anywhere else until I moved. It took me two season to understand what an either sex tag was here.(Pa you have a buck and doe tag possibly bonus tags but you can never kill more than one buck) They dealt with the crossbow situation far in advance too. Disabled persons have been allowed to use crossbows for years even before they made them legal for everyone. They also started antler restrictions long ago. I've read that they also trying to create more habitat and re-propagate pheasants.
  22. Belo, First off congrats on that buck! Second I agree. I was just sharing my opinion but was apparently sore grapes with some. I still have a bunch of these Rage heads that I bought so I'll have a much better idea of how well they work after a few more seasons. Just like someone said earlier the same hit with the same head might have different results day to day. When you read my initial post you see there wasn't any malfunction of the head. I had a clean pass through, a decent blood trail that was easy to track(Kinda fun and it was new2bows first tracking experience), and one dead deer. I just have never seen one go that far with clean shot through the chest since I hit a doe when I was 12 years old with 2 blade bear head. Given these heads that I used are not the new hypothermic tip and I didn't have the shock collar which might eliminate some of the things I don't like. They definitely leave a tremendous hole but so do GR's. I definitely am biased though because of the amazing success I have had with the reapers. Only reason I got the rage was because a guy on this site was selling them cheap and switching to something else. When you shoot a few deer a year the cost of heads can pile up so I figured why not?
  23. Wow this thread got hijacked by RAGE lovers. What I have noticed is that I see people are for and against rage but not a single comment against the reapers! Even more shocking is Shawnhu and I actually agree on something!! (Shawn I guess I owe you a beer, How bout the Bx Ale house?) As far as meatmanager I'm guessing you know about as much hunting as you do law enforcement since are suggesting that I take action against a teenager for a violation that I didn't observe 60 miles out of my jurisdiction(smh) Maybe next you will have me getting search warrants for grade schooler's with over do library books! Well I'm done following this thread because its going no where now but if I change my opinion on the RAGE broadheads in the future I'll be sure to publicly let GenoC and MEatmanger they were right! Until then I'll stick with my 100 grain Grim Reapers and of course my Trusty 100 grain thunderheads
  24. I don't see why people on this site argue over what is better sitting, walking, stand, or blind. Why not utilize every means available. I once started a thread on here blinds vs treestands and it was amazing to sit back and watch and laugh at the responses people wrote. This year I hunted from the ground, tree stand, ground blind, platform blind and anything else I could think of.
