  1. Interesting varying experiences with “ buck fever “ . For those that get it every time a deer comes in close, I’ll ask how often that happens ? I have deer from 5 to 20 yards pretty much every sit ( bow ) often multiple deer , maybe why it doesn’t effect me . I also find it good to practice drawing on them, even though I’m not shooting them .
  2. Chrunch , is the sound that wrapper makes digging it out and opening it .
  3. Middle of open hardwoods , slow, finally three running in green field 150 yards away . Last light a spike at 20 yards , he locked onto something, then I see two more tails , soon all three in front of me . Weird year , three different spikes, two small half racks , a few small forks and four different shooters , but no small eights or six’s .
  4. Same here , once I see a deer I want to shoot I mostly feel this is a slam dunk ,and it’s a relaxed shot . Not bragging it’s just how it’s always been for me . It was the same at work ,there’s all this talk about stress when you get toned out for a fire or fire with people trapped , never seemed to raise my heart rate and I was always calm . Just the way I’m wired or short circuited perhaps
  5. 45 and zero wind , I’ve got my coat unzipped , gloves off and switched to a ball cap . I am starting to cool down .
  6. Bumped one on way in out of the oddest spot with two new large rubs by it . Over dressed ,had to climb up two times into this little hang on and now im sweating
  7. That’s one thing I liked about the FD, we’re undefeated, no fire is still burning !
  8. In honor of your birthday, I’m going to drag my tired butt onto my only hang on I still use and kill a buck . Enjoy !
  9. Im with you ! Almost 60, used to hunt all day , during gun that meant hours of driving ,walking miles of muddy farm fields. Last afternoon I fought to stay awake sitting in a stand ...... Hip hurts walking 1/4 mile of muddy fields. Seeimg multiple bucks each morning sit, and probably won’t hunt another morning till gun . I might even shoot a doe, to get some meat and sleep in more . This year may well be a turning point for me .
  10. Welcome to bow hunting the rut . Today may well be your day it seems , before you realize it some will run right in front of you, then hopefully stop for a brief second .
  11. Good luck , my alarm went off and I said “ screw it I’m going back to sleep .” Was going to hunt all day, to tired , perhaps this afternoon .
  12. That and he’s insulting some of the finest and nicest guys here ,that’s all,I need to know .
  13. Thanks Airedale , I used a cheap one as well, ground W/ jerky gun. Takes a long time ,have to rotate the jerky and trays . Ill give that a look .

    Beer

No fancy mans beer tonight . Generations of men in my family have drank this beer at deer camp . After the Thanksgiving meal, the men would gather for Euchre, as a boy I would watch, my fathers 12 ga , sleeping bag and a brown bag of clothes in the corner, as he left for camp after the game . My Grandfather would tell deer camp stories, and I still remember the guys names from camp, and held his hand waist high to show how high the pile of Genny cans got in the corner . Cheers !
  15. Just had a spike make his way trough the woods , got to 20 yards behind me, cut my trail and stood there blowing for 2 minutes .... He’s really not going to like it when I fire up the leaf blower to clear a path to daughters stand ! Spike blowing pulled in this doe poor selfie but she’s there .
  16. Skippers and flatheads, right off the get go, dead now . Bucks just hanging with the does . Sunny slight breeze
  17. Same stand as last night , young buck followed by two doe just passed at 20 yards . Nice start .
  18. Final count 5 bucks 4 doe . Oddly the movement on stand was all behind me, it’s always most in front of stand . One shooter at last light trapped me for a good bit, got out without spooking him it seems . Last two sits 26 deer in high winds . Heres a selfie of the spike , it’s largely obstructed though . Oh, bought a two, piece thick seat / back cushion like turkey hunters use. My.ladders have mesh seats and the wind and cold go right trough , this cushion was like having heated seats , I can’t get over how much more comfortable it was .
  19. Decent one ran behind me, pushed out this button , who’s hung with me half an hour . Cant find selfie thread .
  20. Put a stalk on a 1 1\2 in gas well field got close to 50 yards . They wandered into thicket . Wouldn’t have shot him though In big ladder inside corner , good general movement spot , saw two shooters here this year
  21. I usually get fries with my burger . At spot, Rockspec not far away good movement all day on cell camera. So I should tag out in an hour or so . 5 deer before I Even sat down
