8h , myself 1 buck 1 doe. by choice we don't eat any more than that, and a second buck would have to be a lot bigger than the bow one . The farm total 40 ish which is about normal but up from last 2 years. I saw 7 while walking the land today .

Going back a few years , we would bring it on canoe trips , in case the fish weren't biting we'd have some "meat". As I recall we'd just fry it in a pan over the fire . Can't recall its taste, I'd be up for trying it again .

If you are referring to,your post #35 than yes you are wrong in the belief that any knife that can be "flicked open" is illegal in NYS . Now in NYC they interpet that any knife that can be "flicked open " to be an illegal gravity knife, that's a bit like saying a lever action rifle is a semi automatic . Which is why there is confusion in this state and a law suit , to read about the suit click my link . http://www.kniferights.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=235 My post # 49 was written as I was running late for a meeting and not as clear as I would want . There can be OTF that are switchblades and ones that are assisted , but by and large most OTF are switchblades . Here is where the President signed into federal law exempting assisted openers from the federal switchblade law. http://www.kniferights.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=98&Itemid=1 Pay special attention to (5)

OTF are switchblades, there are two kinds, OTF and side opening . Assisted openers are largely side opening although there are a couple OTF. Assisted require a manual start, ( flipper or stud mostly ) THEN the spring takes over and completes opening . They don't fit the legal definition of a switchblade . See my link on this in post #40. There are some companies Spyderco being one that won't ship ANY type of lock back to and individual in NYS. Spyderco made a "forum" knife for only members of that forum. It was a special edition Ladybug, a tiny lock back that requires two hands to open, it's impossible to flip, swing, use centripetal force to,open . I had to have them ship it to a friend in NC.
-
Belo that's only because of NYC's knife laws, some won't ship ANY locking folders to ANY part of NYS . Assisted openers are legal in NYS. Yesterday I was in a uniform shop that sells largely to cops/ ff/ ems. They had plenty of assisted openers for sale. OTF are " switchblades" and largely illegal , although I don't sweat it myself .

Gravity & Balisong (Butterfly) Knives In People v. Dolson, the Court found that the knife carried by Mr. Dolson was a gravity knife, because it had a hinge on one end connecting 2 narrow handles with a blade concealed between the handles, and the blade became exposed either by force of gravity or centrifugal force (spinning the knife). The Dolson Court also ruled that a knife whose blade does not lock into position when released is not a gravity knife. In 2003, in People v Zuniga, the Court followed this ruling, dismissing the indictment against Mr. Zuniga, because the ‘butterfly’ knife he was carrying had a blade that had to be locked into place manually, and therefore was not a gravity knife under the New York law. Ny courts have ruled that unless the butterfly knifes handle lock automatically it's not an illegal gravity knife. Every one I've seen or handled , the lock had to be manually pressed into place . Not to say that some cough cough (NYC )Areas won't bust you and make you go to court or most likely plead because it's cheaper.

Here one of my published pieces from awhile ago, the only one I have a picture of right now .

NYS , assisted opening ( spring assist) knives are legal , there are no blade length state laws, fixed blades can be open carried and butterfly or balisong are legal as well. That said there is massive confusion by many in law enforcement on what is what, and in NYC if they see your pocket clip will examine the knife and if the cop or the third one to try can get it to "flip " open using a large amount of inertia they call it a gravity knife and say that's then illegal . Lol a gravity knife opens by surprise gravity, it's an out the front knife that open when turn upside down , they were originally made for paratroopers , to cut free Of lines. No motion needed to open other than tipping upside down. All assisted opening ( spring assist ) ,and one hand opening via, studs, holes and waves have a bias towards saying closed in all positions . I've read NYS penal law many times, written articles for Blade, and Tactical Gear magazines , belong to a knife rights org. and sharpen the knives of many in law enforcement as well as always showing and comparing our knives when we meet on jobs. Not that I'm always 100% right and trust me your local cop is not always good source of knife law. I know guys with boxes of knives they've taken off people on the street , almost are of them are legal to,own and carry . By the way the lawsuit against NYC and their out right deceitfull knife laws seems that it might go our way. Nypd does it largely to inflate their arrest numbers concerning weapons Taken off the street , by arresting artists and stagehands for carrying their work tools, mostly folding razor knives in their case. Here's a piece explaining spring assist vs switchblades ( know as automatics in the knife world). Pay attention to the end where they talk about NYC ,spring assist are illegal there because ALL lock backs that can be flipped open are . http://www.wildbillwholesale.com/whisdibeswan.html

Glad to hear everything worked out ok . A fall at 89 is what did my Dad In . He fell by the bed and slept on the hardwood floor from , 11pm till 8am, I'm ten minutes away but he would not let my Mom call and bother me..... Good luck with everything . -
Thanks, yea I've read that, "while engaged in hunting "and so on. There is also a question as to wether I can carry them while working my job. But nobody cares that I do really . Some of their otf single action ones can be pricy can't they. Enjoy.

The Chive had some pics of "accidental camo" . Here are a couple of my favorites.

I bought the D'extra before and it's quite a bit different than the regular one, but I'm sure going to try the Higher Math, in about two hours in the hot tub with the Mrs. She just"retired" if you count the company moving to Mexico and her sister died last week on my wife's birthday..... So,she could use a pick me up , and me in my bathing suit may or may not do,it alone ! Oh and thanks Paula.

Ok Hegedrons market has it and that's about a mile from me ! Although I always check DFH there and don't remember it, perhaps it's in a different spot . I'm,about to learn me some Higher Math.....

Just catching back,up on this thread. Bersa makes some great guns at good values. Taurus , I've owened a Mod . 85 .38 snubbie concealed hammer since they first came out, like the late '80s early 90's and It's been great! Their .380 seems to hold up,well also . But I've heard mixed reviews on the other autos, enough that I'd stay away myself , as I've owned guns that had issues and never care to again. Same with Kel tec years ago. They seemed to,use their customers as their QC . Many got good guns but enough did not to,keep me away. Now if you got a bad one and sent it in it came back perfect, I just did not want to see if I would be that one in ten , and bought a Berretta Tomcat .32 , then a LCP when they came out . Our youngest daughter just got her permit , she enjoys my .22s and I'm getting her a SW compact 22 ( looks like the Shield) then work her up to the Shield . Might give her the Tomcat but the manual of arms can be confusing for a newbie I think.

Ok I need help ! Dogfish Head stopped making my all time go to beer bar none couple years back. Raison D' Etre , also one of the few beers I regular bought that did not adhere to Reinheitsgebot . I'd tied other Belgium brown ales but none came close any ideas ? I've pretty much given up the search and drink mostly Hendricks gin and some whiskeys now .

He's from Pittsford rude yuppie capital of Monroe county , the fight would have to be at a Volvo dealership, Lands End, or a Bikram yoga studio .

I'll play, at work right now, the one picture with two knives are what I'm carrying tonight. A Strider DB, classic sharpened pry bar, the folder is a Spyderco Delica 50/50. Now I'm not a big 50/50 guy but I own a few. The folder gets swapped out often but always carry the DB at work. The second picture is top to bottom. A Rick Hinderer XM 18 bought right from Rick, a Spyderco Yojimbo , ( truly razor sharp deep cutting knife) and a Microtech out the front out with a double edge making it illegal x2 in NYS . These are the folders I'm been carrying most of late. The watch is a Seiko skx 007 on a shark mesh strap, with after market dial, bezel and Omega style sword hands. I rotate watches even more than knives .....

Did it when he built the house, and he did most of the work, himself . I know the door was about 3k . When you have what looks like 100 plus rifles and a 5 figure 50 cal a few grand for a room seems reasonable .Way less than an in ground pool . Machinist , idk about the roof. I'm only going by what he told me and a handful of pics. I know there are three I beams spanning the roof but it did look like waffle or corigated ? Ceiling from what I saw in pics . I'll ask,him when I see him in a few hours. I don't ask for pics as I'm sure he doesn't want it " out" there.

I believe the long gun law is an environmental conservation law ,and was written to help with charges related to road hunting . Similar to the fact that you can only have 3 shells in your shotgun hunting water fowl , but more in it behind the bedroom door .
-
I googled Belgium revolving shotgun and came up with many pics some with links to sites for these guns. My battery is dying and I gotta walk the dog but that seems like a good place to start.

That's a good move, my Grandparents lived behind us , and whenever we went away I had to carry some items over to their house. You're right , if you live in a rural area the thieves have time and being out of sight to their advantage . On the Canon safe web page they used to have a pic of one of their safes, that had a chain wrapped around it and pulled out of the house with a truck ! It was dragged a couple miles and beat on but never opened , which was why it was on the site . http://www.cannonsafe.com/stories/chris-smith/ I have a friend with a 16x16 gun vault . 10 inch poured reinforced concrete walls, 2 inch steel ceiling with 7 inches of concrete above that and a vault door. All hidden behind a dummy wall. If you saw what was in it your jaw would hit the floor. Say hello to my little friend ......
-
One thing about safes is you put everything in one easy to steal box. Bolt it down, keep.it out of sight of the causal visitor, and if it's under 500 pounds consider loading the bottom with bags of shot . Mine is in a hidden room in the basement , bolted to the floor and wall, and not all my guns are valuables are in it . Brain storm , leave a cheap locker type safe out in the open filed with junk.

There was a time that jacket had to be over lapped and the buckles pulled as tight as possible, today there is a gap between the two halfs and the buckles barley reach, who'd a thunk a life vest could shrink ?
-
$350 is going to limit you to some .380s and perhaps a Taurus 9mm ( which I would avoid, although their revolvers get better reviews) .I'd save up another $150 and another level of guns become available with way more choices. Or go used. I remember when the big gun debate was 9 vs 45 lol .
