  1. Larry, as you know now that LL Bean is mostly clothes .I happen to like their jeans so that's why I go there every couple years. As you gazed south towards those hills, you were looking at where I hunt about 10 minutes away. FS is nice I enjoy going there one or twice a year . I find their selection of products to be hit and miss. They got a ton of different safes of all sizes, racks for inside, pouches for the doors, drying rods , all kinds of exsessorys . Went to buy our daughter a day pack, they had only a handful to choose from. Maybe it's seasonal . If you ever make it to the one in Freeport, while the wife is in line at Ben and Jerry's next door, take a stroll down a block or two, there used to be a nice knife store there. Oh and Manns Jewlers in Eastview has a descent selection of William and Henry knives, I know you like quality blades.
  2. I'm currently making images of all U.S. Presidents out of toe nail clippings ( I'm up to Monroe ) . Along with that as its mostly waiting for my nails to grow...... I scour garage sales looking for sewing bobbins , and in the winter I like to go to,the mall and eat pretzels in front of Victoria Secrets .
  3. I'm in if I'm off at the time. I could stay at our daughters apartment in Buffalo if need be, although I've made the drive from Sundowners a time or two..... Been thinking of doing a Roch.area one , like breakfast before the gun show or something . Anyone else from my area interested we could car pool , but then we won't be staying over at my daughters ...... Btw I know the owners of the bowling alley on Broadway , which I think is in that area. They have a little sports bar in front and they say their wings are really good, although I never tried them. Depending on the time / date we could just about have it to,ourselves .
  4. Many forums have a give away area where members can have contests for unwanted items as a way to give back to the forum. Here's mine it's a ksf pocket sheath , it holds a SMALL fixed blade and a light ( mini mag or smaller )or folder or match safe on the other side . It's simply a way to carry a couple items into the woods by slipping this in your pocket as opposed to hanging them off a belt. It's unused . If you, have a small fb like say a small Bark River or similar , write your screen name on a piece of paper along with a number from 1 to 50 place your knife on paper and snap a pic. Post pic. On Jan. 7th I'll pick a number 1-50 closet wins.ill post winner here and PM them for address. Here's a link to the site of maker.http://www.ksfleather.com/pocketsheaths.html
  5. Rohrbaugh, has a nice following but you going to have to buy a used one for around $1,200 as they were sold to Remington in'14 . Some folks think the LCP is "snappy" to shoot, I'm betting they never fired a R9 from Rohrbaugh .
  6. I can't tell you how many deer I've killed with my Browning BPS Buck Special 12ga smooth bore. 50 plus I guess, on the run , 100 plus yards , under my stand , every possible way . When Ontario county went rifle I took the scope off it and it's sat in the safe ever since .i like to practice with my guns a lot , but a 12 ga pump shooting slugs just sucks after a couple boxes My .270 has killed a few since ,many at bow distance but some " out there" I seldom , maybe never even worked the bolt to load a second round, I just grin and hang it back up. I hunt a lot of thick stuff too ,bringing the 12 ga just never occurs to me anymore. If I wanted to change it up for close shoots in cover I'd consider a 30-30 open sights .
  7. The guys covered pretty good, I'll just add. I own the Tomcat .32 along with the lcp and 9mm Shield. So I know where you're coming from I think. The Lcp benefits greatly from a Hogue Handall grip, I also upgraded to Wolff springs. .380 is not to much of a leap from the .32 Silver tips but I'm ok with it. Easy all day pocket carry. You'll want to get this grip as the barebones LCP does not have the hand filling grip of the Tomcat. If you just want to replace the Tomcat and are not looking for a large increase in stopping power , I think you'll enjoy the LCP just get those grips and use the mags with the finger extension . Now the Shield carries very very well on my belt in a pancake holster , it disappears under the smallest of cover garment . I sit in my recliner all night with it on and don't notice it. It's become my ECD carry. If I'm litlely dressed or tucked in shirt then I rock the LCP in a pocket holster . Myself I can't pocket carry the Shield .Nano, Kahr, perhaps the single stack Glock idk for sure but I'd hit a well stocked gun shop and try them out . Good luck , let us know what you decide . Here's an interesting .380 round , http://www.lehighdefense.com/collections/ammo/products/380-auto-90gr-xtreme-penetrator-ammunition?variant=1066236304
  8. Daughter that lives in Buffalo is going, nobody there wants to use their tickets so you can get them cheap . I watch the Super Bowl that's it, got a $100 square at work just to have some interest in it .
  9. This was quite odd, I've always gotten yellow ones .
  10. Merry Chirstmas ! My family gathered around the tree playing games.
  11. What it's Christmas Eve ??? Guess I gotta run out and start shopping , how late is the Dollar Store open ?
  12. I'm all for it, although those who bought building lots off my father in law thinking that the rest of the land will stay undeveloped are getting nervous . Hey I'll give them right of first refusal . Can't wait , beach home down south fly out west to kill some critters with our huge profits .
  13. Think he may have worked with Sam at Colonial Razor when it was by the YMCA around the corner.Another great barber shop , shot of whiskey around Christmas time, . 38 snub in cash drawer.
  14. FYI , my wife and the farm has this, my spot with stands marked. My wife knows which stand I'm in and that I call when my boots are back on the ground . No call and she she calls, no answer and she calls farmer . In theory that's the plan but I have a feeling she might forget to,call for a few days....
  15. Since the late '80's I used cut on contact fixed blades , starting with Mangus swedged two blades, (great bone cutting heads) then Mangus Stingers with bleeders . This year I went to the dark side and tried Rage hypos. Killed this guy, easy short track . Juries still out though, to small a sample size.
  16. Who knew Edward Scissorhands had a shop around here ! It's not on Main st in the village is it ? I loved going there, talk guns, hunting, stock market. Sleeping lab on floor .
  17. Sometimes them dead deer can be tricky ..... My daughter shot this buck 7:30 opening morning 175 yards from where I sat. She took pics from the stand, texted her hunting friends and myself. I said let me sit another hour as is opening morning and I had two young bucks walk by already and Joe saw 3 , so its looking like a great morning. 5 minutes later she said she was watching a spike under her stand, looked back and this buck was in a field walking away with 2 doe !! Boy do,I wish I ran right over...... I could not believe it but was sure it wasn't going far. We found 2 small drops of blood in its bed right where it's head layed. After a long search that was all we found.
  18. Nice to hear things are progressing . Been in a couple hundred fires, saw a lot of death made a couple saves . But we leave go back to the firehouse clean tools take a shower and go to bed and wait for the next one, while folks like yourself are left to try to move forward . Something I need to focus more on. Kind of makes this whole " bad deer season" seem silly doesn't it ........ Keep, the faith brother !
  19. Glad to see you reposted this here, that "love hate post" wasn't getting much traction . Btw on that post I contributed and challeged all my fellow hunters to step up, glad to see they are . Good luck in moving forward .
  20. Way to go guys ! My point in posting what I gave was to cause folks to think, " if that a hole can give a C note I can come up with something ". We all want to help the deer herd out, how about our fellow man ?
  21. I just dropped $100 into your go fund me, and I challenge all my fellow hunters here to do what they can to help . Oh and don't deal with your insurance company on your own, hire a company that will do this for you, they will get you more money even after their fee, than if you just let the insurance company come in look thing s over and write a check.
  22. Real for me and I use ornaments from my parents and grandparents, although I seem to lose one or two a year due to breakage . That said the day I throw the tree out the front door onto the lawn , is second only to opening day of gun .
