  1. Bubba correct me ...haven't you mentioned in the past that you are a Hunter SAFETY instructor?......You really feel a need to criticize these guys for voicing what they PERSONAL experienced thus giving an assessment as to what happened at the time? The problem we have in this state is we don't have good hunter instruction on a uniformed bases around this state...yes kudos to those willing to do it ...but the state needs to either train them better or mandate a better curriculum .... Now tell me why you can criticize them for apparent assumptions you feel they made.... when you yourself are doing the EXACT same thing in doing so? This states safety records proves we need improvements and Hunter Orange is one of those improvements we need...that being said please don't bother trying to redirect by stating many of the "incidents" were self inflicted...falls or self inflicted shots..... for it doesn't change the fact that ppl on the web have been reporting many many "close calls" and the state does not.
  2. Thank You for having more common sense than the ppl in charge

  4. Yep...had every thing set...up at 4:30am...and ....nope just can't handle the wind
  5. arrow nocker said it best.....I think it's funny...sad really....We just had someone take a huge doe on this forum...and a trophy she is....he described having to hunt her for something like three years before putting a tag on her...but there will never be a BIG doe contest.....Doe have always ...especially during bow season been much more of a challenge for me to hunt...I think it's sad that hunters coming up through the ranks don't get to realize just what a trophy a smart ole doe can be ...it took me 2 years to drop a brain dead buck in rut with a bow ...but 7 to draw down on a doe with out getting caught....Human nature...Status symbols...never been able to wrap my mind around them.....houses....cars...clothes....racks....
  6. Yep and at that price you can get free shipping this time of year and a....... warranty
  7. Congrats...she's a big one for sure....hope taking her doesn't change their travel patterns on you....I took a big matriarch one year....and patterns changed drastically on our place for a # of years ...it shut down a few stands..She'll take up some real estate in the freezer.....
  8. No for the apple tree is there and you didn't rake them into a pile per say...you can shake all your fruit and nut baring trees all you want ....as long as they stay where they landed
  9. Me 8N 1buck bow 1 doe bow 2 doe shot gun Camp 8x others( 8 guys hunted there during gun seasons) 1bb rifle 3 doe rifle 1 non-recovered doe shotgun.( mine - trailed to posted no permission to recover)
  10. The guys saw nothing at camp....I've taken one 8pt and 3 doe this year...think I'll be headed out in the morning with the bow again...would still like to make more sausage.....Just gave a gallon bag of jerky to one of the guys at camp....The kids are bugging for more...They like the new hard cider recipe
  11. I have a cam over the water trough I built this year....they are really using it now.......still have a couple of nice doe and lots of fawns around...traveling past my stand in the back ground....no buck....no day pics....most of the food plot thirty yrds away....grain sorghum and a few small turnips are gone...but they are hitting the Sucraseed...beef bank I planted in this travel corridor....warm temps we had until now gave it a chance to grow some...planted late fall
  12. 27 degrees and snowing big flakes here....going to check cams...then decide on where to set up for bow this afternoon...have close to an inch on ground now
  13. Is that your deck in the shadows cast by the sun....if so they all came in very close......
  14. for those that want to film their hunt Gander has cam eye glasses on sale this week $89
  15. All I can say is...he is a business man and had best been insured...for the "kid" isn't going to be giving up tens of thousands of dollars.....and I'm not sure of the laws to date........ but unless it is until 21...he's over eighteen and the parents may be in the clear..... if not....he really s-----d them royally...
  16. Congrats...makes ya wonder....anyone he know or does he hit the web much????
  17. Doc....the bold part of your quote is in and where the problem lies...I do not believe as it is or has been with in their capabilities based on the structure the DEC is set in.....They need to separate the DEC in to two entities...one being strictly a game commission
  18. There's deals out there...We just bought a Mossberg ...used but less than a month...Rifled barrel...smooth bore and 3chokes withe 6 boxes of bird and sabots....280.00...so check around times are tight...I also have a Mossbrg turkey gun ...that I've shot deer with and our Daughter has a Remington for deer and turkey ....all great guns...I like Mossberg for it's thumb safety and bottom eject...like my Browning has...for I'm a lefty
  19. Great story...but still a good reminder.....Tell ppl what general area your going to be hunting...2hrs is a long time in a situation like that
  20. Never thought I'd say this but AR...The one buck rule won't work....remember I said when I took my hunting course 35 or so years ago ...it was ALL woman ...when the instructor asked if they were there to hunt or get and extra tag for the hubby....something like 3 out of 20 or so ppl raised there hands to hunting...he made us go out to handle a shot gun on trap...I was the only one to hit and most others refused to even shoot....yet all were certified ppl around here routinely send spouses out to get certified ...especially in bow now...that way they can ..."Settle " their nerves on a lesser buck with wifes..daughters... sons tag and then hunt for the "big boys"...Just this year a Sheriff said to me ..."Ya a lot of guys are hunting on their wives tags...DEC doesn't think about it ...it's income to them and deer down" You know you guys can hash and re-hash this subject to death...ooppps apparently not ...but the facts are no matter what they come up with ....ppl in general set their own little rules and circumvent policies either legally or illegally The DEC will always pick and choose what offenders or types of offenses they will go after based on man power...and regional familiarity ...When they can't up hold their end of the bargain..... you'll never find the whole hunting population up holding theirs....The best we can do is teach our future hunters that ...being able to have real pride in our hunting pursuits starts with doing it be the rules at hand and with as much acquired skill as possible
  21. Thats more than enough to kill a deer...pic is my first bow kill using a 50 yr old 45# Kodiak recurve......

I just bought 2 sets of pearl earrings as gifts...they have beautiful pearls and prices and great customer service....
