I would wait until the grass is dry and no rain in the forecast for at least a day. The lable reads to spray on dry weeds and then it will become rainfast after 2 hours. But another section of the label says an additional application may be needed if it rains shortly after 2 hours. The chemical needs time to be absorbed through the leaves and then migrate to the roots to be effective. Considering the cost of Roundup, wait until you know it will be effective.

As I said in a prior post, I would like to build one for myself, now I have renewed vigor to finish it. I would like to have a copy of the letter, please pm it to me. G-Man I have been using Post & Arrow over the last couple of years. I believe they are only for the removal of grass that is growing in the clover plot and I have only had mixed results. I have not found anything that will kill the weeds in clover yet. If a seed company ever comes out with a RR Clover seed, it will be a hot item.

I may be living under a rock, but is there such a thing as RR clover? It would make our lives alot easier and less expensive. No more cutting the clover fields 3 or 4 times a year to keep the weeds down and replanting every 4 or 5 years. Well we would still have to cut the clover. Has anyone heard of a seed company that has it? Thanks, Catskillkid

I don't know if hay bales and a propane heater would go good together. I would shoot the deer before lighting the propane, then we could cook venison over the burning hay bale. I'm sure we would be seen for miles and attract a few fire trucks for the bbq.

Well, I finally got my Eagle RR soy bean seeds in the ground over the weekend. We have been getting alot of rain in Delaware County but we had a couple of dry days last week. I put in about 1.5 acres, plowed under the old clover then disced a week later. I broadcast the seed and fertilizer and disced it all under again. We'll see if NY can grow soy beans My local Ag store tells me no, I would like to prove him wrong

I saw a couple of them from the highway while traveling to Ohio to hunt last year. They were enclosed hay wagons with an enclosed boxed out stand on top with roof and windows on all four sides. What a great way to stay out of the wind, cold, rain & snow! Keep a small propane heater inside and a shooting bench. Just pull it with a tractor the day before the hunt to any spot on your land and detach the tractor and drive back to the barn. I'm sure the deer will just ignore it like any other piece of farm equipment in the field. It really is just a raised ground blind and the deer would not pick up any body movement. I want to build one for myself for the coming deer season. I'm looking for and old wagon frame on wheels. I might feel a little guilty staying warm and dry while my buds are toughing it out in the elements though. Or maybe not! ;D

I can't comment on how hard it must be to quit smoking as I never saw the need to smoke. But 3 years ago, my brother and his wife, my mother and 3 of my friends went to a hypnotist in our town to try to give it up. Each one quit after one session. TRUE STORY I don't know what he has in that office but it sure must be good! You may want to give it a try

Only landowners and residents with at least 2 pps have been getting antlerless permits over the last 3 years. I do see an upswing in the deer population in my area in Sidney though.

I thought you guys would like to see a bird that we shot a couple of years ago in Orange County, NY. My buddy had been wanting a mature tom to get mounted for his den. After many hunts over 4 years with him we shot a few good birds but nothing outstanding that he wanted to add to his trophy room. One eventful morning I was calling for him, we set up in an overgrown/brushy pasture where we had many great hunts in the past. After a quiet sunrise we heard a few gobbles coming to the Old Boss Hen mouth call. A couple of cackles sealed the deal and the toms were on their way to us! Three long bearded toms appeared from behind a brush pile about 20 yards away. Unfortunatly the birds came from my left hand side and my friend was sitting next to me on my right. I had to lay on my back for him to get the shot. At the shot, it looked like the bird was hit but the tom flew up and sailed about 20 feet above us and was gone. As it flew I could see that it had 2 beards dangling from it's chest and I yelled at him that he just lost the trophy that we were looking for over all these years. Hoping that we might find the bird, we started looking for him, following his flight path. Another friend that was with us happened upon him. I yelled over to him "does it have 2 beards"? He yelled back "no 3 beards"! There was alot of hooping / hollering and back slapping. beard #1 was 8.5" beard #2 was 8" beard #3 was 4.5" spurs were .5" weight 21 lbs.

It looks like I should be able to get into the fields to disc this weekend, finaly no rain in the forecast. Hopefully the Memorial Day weekend is dry also so we can get the soy seeds in the ground

Wow, 7 acres is a lot to look after. I got about 2.5 acres disced also. The soil was not as dry as I would have liked but I can only work on it on weekends. Hope next weekend is dry, I would like to finsh and get the seed in the ground the following weekend.

We are overrun with coyotes in my area of Delaware County. I'm sure that has a lot to do with Toms not gobbling too much
