Archery only in state parks for us , my dad would really be into hiking into the middle of the park and letting the deer come to him , he likes to talk about the good ol days before 4 wheelers and lots of hunting pressure.

We live in niagara county and we have a hunting spot 2 hours away that we spend alot of time at ,something around a 2 hour drive would be fine or even a bit further , we have slept in the truck before just to get some quality time at specific spot.

Hey Fellow hunters, Do any of you have any good references for public hunting in nys , my dad and i would like to explore a little bit during archery season and i cant decipher the DEC website enough to tell what is what , just a simple map with colored areas seems like the best idea but i cant find anything that easy to read. Thanks in advance , Jeremy

Gander mtn had a sign up today that said maximum amount was 10 boxes per day , ill go back tomorrow too.

My favorite thing to come across in the woods are old foundations , my mind starts racing about who was here and what where they doing and did they ever imagine someday the area would be taken over by the forest and become a hunting spot someday.

Last i knew western NY had close to 20 buses total from all the different clubs and organizations going tomorrow , i couldn't get off work so i gave my buddy some money for snacks and bottle water for those that could go.

Why stop at the foot , maybe some nice stew for lunch tomorrow.

Dont ask ,im sure it will be in a shallow grave . Just play grave robbers after the kid goes to bed , win win.

The 990 has some nice ones ,there is a big boy that walks around next to the 290 by the williams st exit and another big guy at the beginning of the 219 ,all still with full head gear.

Some people believe and some do not , neither side has any proof to support their case ,only a belief.

Sucks to hear of problems with the new go pros ,my hero2 has worked really well .

I have the go pro 2 , not as nice as the 3 when it comes to setting up the camera and making adjustments . My favorite video so far is the one my girlfriend and i took in Paradox lake , we went out with the scuba masks and a fishing pole and filmed fish striking our bait underwater.

Just got the news from my buddy, what a way to start the day, with some positive news for a change.

Now just attach a gun and a camera and you won't have to leave the couch !

I got my barrel and scope together , i ended up getting a Bushnell elite 3-9x40 , the argon filled one with the 600doa reticle , I had the whole day free today so i spent 3 hours all by myself at the range today . So far i am super excited about my new set up , seems like it is gonna be real accurate shooter. Thanks for everyone's advice .

I agree , i love having 4 seasons (esp fall and winter) I have been saying for the longest time that nyc politics is ruining this state , prime example is when they wanted to increase the tolls state wide to pay for new bridge in new york city , every bridge in western ny has rebar showing ,but for some reason we ned to rebuild a bridge in nyc before anything else.

somewhere northern-central USA , venison tastes like shit in those "hot" states.

My brother just told me a good story about one of the monster "city" bucks we have been seeing . He was in the woods with his kids when he realized he was running late to get them home for their mom to pick them up. They start heading in a straight line back towards home through some thick stuff and there stands one of the monsters and wont stand down no matter how close they get, his little guy got scared so my brother stomp his feet a couple times to which the buck responded with stomping both front feet into the ground and lower his head slightly , then my brother got worried, needless to say they took the long way around and got home late. City deer are nuts ! They have no fear of humans at all.

We got about 12 inches in Niagara county , Rupert is lovin it !

I thought there was another story about a Saskatchewan buck taken this year ,the guy was going to make money off the whole ordeal because he recorded the whole process from the preseason scout all the way to the kill shot.

Does it seem like latley more pics are showing up of albinos and piebalds , i wonder if its because there actually is more or just that technology allows so many people to have so many cameras in the woods now.

We got 2 monster 14 pointers here in the city , they look like twins . Last year my dad and i saw one of them with full head gear in May !

I remember that storm in 2001 ish that dump 7 feet in depew area , just to the north of that was less snow but to much snow for the 81 cat i tried riding , not a problem with the newer sled especially with a 1-7/8 deep lug track.
