Nice tractor! Thank God for the loader, it'll take little time and be messy but you'll get it.- 10374 replies

Even more so, that's why you wait. If not pushed he will bed within 100 yards, with no blood you'll still find him. If he's pushed and travels 500 yards it'll nearly be impossible.- 10374 replies

Congrats but don't go yet... that deer could be dead but if not he's gone. Why not wait? Go get breakfast and coffee, watch the news and go back in 4 or 5 hours.- 10374 replies

My opinion is yes. It'll happen at some point. There are too many factors that we can't control. Stay positive, the deer may very well have survived.

You know Phade, awesome deer! Makes me sick to my stomach that you have to be hesitant on posting a deer in fear of other idiots trying to intrude and hunt a particular area. I LOVE seeing what brutes hunters harvest or get on their cameras, the last thing I want to do is try to sneak into the area and take him. That's why some 4 pointers are true trophy's on my 24 acres. The enjoyment is being successful in your own situation. Hopefully my family and I can get some food plots in and grow bigger deer but until then be content. I'd honestly rather shoot a nice 6 point on my property then try to infringe on someone else's hard work and determination to get a "Big buck", that's not rewarding at all!- 10374 replies

Do whatever Moog is doing, hard pressed to find a more successful hunter, his group knocks them down, lol. I do however use scents and IMO, it's not too early. 8:00 This morning I had a spike licking a branch i sprayed with estrous urine. He was 10 yards but I didn't want to take him. I videoed it for my children so I can show them when I get home. I love using it but be aware you can spook them too!

Outdoorstom, you and your dogs are so enjoyable, I just love reading the stories. I read these as you post them and I just don't understand why hunters continually push deer, especially with questionable hits, it makes no sense and extremely difficult for your team. Keep up the great work and stories. I was wondering about how many miles do you track/year?

This thread is already too long and I hate adding to it but from what I read, he did absolutely nothing wrong.

I disagree. Deer do not have sweat glands; which means they do not have the ability to regulate body temps. With their coats getting heavier for winter they'll literally overheat. So temps are important, it doesn't mean dont go out if it's warm. They still need to eat, drink and satisfy their sexual hunger.- 10374 replies

Hey fellow hunters! It's been a very busy year so I haven't been on the site much. Last weekend, my Dad and I were st camp. I saw 6 doe but only had a shot at two yearlings, I passed. We drove back home around 5. I knew I would have about 1.5 hours if I rushed out behind my house. I actually didn't get out there until 5:30, I had to give the family hugs and kisses and ask how there weekend was. Finally, I was out there, I climb the ladder, hang my bow and start trimming little sap suckers in my way. While doing so and making noise I see movement at 40 yards, it's a mature doe! As odd as it was, she proceeded to my ladder to about 5 yards. I hit her high in the spine and the quickly dispatched her with another shot through both lungs. I had her gutted and dragged to my garage by 545. It was surreal, my wife is shaking her head from the patio door and yells "sell the camp", lmao! That won't happen. Good luck and have fun!

Very tough question. So many factors. This year will be a very busy year for me. I will not have a lot of time on stand. Plus, I have no scouting and the season is upon us. When that happens, filling the freezer and harvesting anything becomes a success in my eyes. Good luck and shoot straight guys and gals!!!

TF, sorry to hear, try to enjoy the holidays with her.

Smart ingenuity there. However, and thanks for the heads up, the last thing I want is the ribs to flatten out. I can't believe how expensive this implement is. Holds their value...
-
I might have to due to cost, however i really want a cultipacker, lol.
-
I'm nervous about a controlled burn, either way I'll definitely spray. I'm doing this the right way, no cutting corners.
-
Well I ended up buying a tractor. Ford 1510, nice sized tractor for food plots. Now on to either buying a cultipacker or building one. I'm already obsessed and haven't even thrown a seed!
-
I say go for it. But I say go lower, it is almost landlocked and still not cheap. I think it's a fair price. All depends on how much you really want it?!?!?
-
Controlled burn scares me. Is it easy to do?
