  1. How about Tic Tac's? They're edible.......... And then of course we have Tacks.
  2. We used to watch for a airplane just before my son went to be and we told him the flashing lights were Santa's sleigh........... The trail cam thing is going to be a tough one to get by unless you can come up with a suit PDQ!!
  3. My socks are on the floor tonight. (I bought a bottle for myself)
  4. What is your affiliation that you see 125+ jaw bones a year?
  5. Yes, I Googled Obsession dealers and got that information after I asked earlier. The owner made a string for my Bowtech Guardian a number of years ago and was pleasant to deal with, just a long ways for me to travel.
  6. 57 pounds https://www.meyersboat.com/sportspal/models/S-13
  7. I'd be pretty pissed if I passed a easy shot on a bear in the Park this year because I thought the season was closed on them. In my opinion, the Park Administration has some explaining to do and somebody should loose their job if its proven they covered up or hid the fact that you could shoot a bear.
  8. Who has Prime bows in our area Jeremy? How about Obsession if you know?? I'm not buying a new one.........I don't think.
  9. If you re-read my post, you'll see that I mentioned that what looked odd to me was that the bear was in an odd position, propped up by the hunter. His left arm looks relaxed too. A 300-400lb bear would seem to be a pretty difficult thing to be propped like that by one arm and still have a smiling hunter. And yes, myself and most people here are aware of sitting back from a critter (or holding a fish with extended arms) makes them look bigger.
  10. I know I'm showing my age here but heck, we're all friends right? Stink, stank stunk!!!!!!
  11. Five minutes? I know guys these days that hang in 30+ minutes after sunset before heading out. One time in Lima, I was still in the stand about 10 minutes past sunset as I had deer around me and I didn't want to spook them. My orange hat was visible from the road and all of a sudden this ass wipe starts yelling at the top of his nicotine choked lungs that it's past sunset, get out of the woods! I was at least 300 yards away and PISSED. By the time I got out he was long gone.......good damn thing. Since that little escapade, I've been more aware of shooting hours but I ain't perfect. The biggest worry I have is in low light conditions and looking only for antlerless deer is shooting a spike or similar racked dink by mistake. That's a problem I look to avoid!

    Scale

I was hoping you'd see that.
  13. I've seen lots of hero bear pics and I don't think I've ever seen one like that. If that bear is as big as stated (and it does look big!) it sure seems like it'd be a bitch to prop it up like that??

    Scale

One more thing; when I weigh at home (as opposed to at my buddies where clearance isn't an issue) I have to hog tie the rear hocks to the head/neck in a pretzel like deal and hoist the package off the floor THEN get it onto the scale.

Hey Goose......the picture is deceiving. The pulley system wasn't expensive at all, it's just a cheap unit I've used for almost 20 years now. I changed out the rope once as the first one got frayed.... My shed is quite small I'm quite limited to height so I have had to adapt to that. Besides cutting the rear legs of the deer off as short as possible, the "gambrel" is a piece of hardwood approx. 30" long with a hole in the center. That is attached to the bottom eye of the lower pulley with a length of "fish tape" a friend gave me while working pulling IT cable in commercial buildings. It is incredibly strong! The top pulley has a split chain link attached to it then it is hooked over more of the fish tape to a 2x4 screwed to the rafter and attached at multiple points. Everything was done do give me as much height as possible to get the deer up off the floor. Some of my bigger bucks (217lbs, 204lbs and 186lbs) DON'T swing free, the rest all do but skinning is difficult on your knees if they are junk. I work with carpenters during the week and two good friends of mine on this site (I won't mention their names (Dinsdale and 2012_taco) to embarrass them) are tremendous carpenters but I can't seem to convince any of them to help me add a cupola big enough to get a deer a couple feet higher off the shed floor. And of course you guys know I'm just bustin' onions on Dins & taco....... The fish tape at the end of the "gambrel" is to keep the hocks of the deer from sliding off the stick, and it works well. I have another hunk of fish tape that I hang the scale from, transferring the deer from the "gambrel" to the scale is not an easy thing put not much in life is......
  16. Terrific news!! She’s a beauty!!

Found a new (old stock) Hanson 300lb scale on Craigslist a couple weeks ago. Wish I’d have killed something AFTER I scored it. I’ll give my Cabela’s scale to my buddy....
  20. .5 rapids and negative on the South Buffalo portion of your inquiry........ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ellicott_Creek Merry Christmas.

    Misfires

I didn't add any of my history with flintlocks, patched round balls and REAL black powder. My stories would provide hours of belly busting good times for all that would follow along. If I recall correctly, one deer in NYS and a couple in Pennsylvania fell to the mighty 50cal round ball. It's been probably 20 years since I've shot it, thank the inline for that.
