Just today I whacked an inch off my OLD arrows. I hung out probably two inches past the end of the riser for years, just because when I switched bows a number of year ago I used what was working good in the old bow worked good in the new one........ So, last week I cut a half dozen arrows for a friend and couldn't believe how short his were and he is about my height/arm length. (I'm fatter but better looking.....) I put one of his arrows on my string and drew it back. There was plenty of clearance for my safety and piece of mind. I was bored a bit this morning so fired up the arrow saw and sliced an inch off my current arrows. I bought a dozen new ones a few days ago and will cut them to the same length as the ones I did today, AFTER I go to a bow shoot tomorrow and make sure all is good, as I suspect. There's nothing wrong with being a bit too long, a bit more mass can't hurt.

If you're taking I90 when driving back to VT, keep me in mind on the Honda. I'm only a or two off the exit and could meet you. Just a thought.......

Talking about going with 2012_taco. Anybody else going? As with all Hawkeye shoots, it'll be a good one.

Did you enter him in the NYS and P&Y books?

Love my Honda EB3000c but you should look hard at the Honda EU2000i.....not cheap of course but top notch equipment that will last many years.

Nice shootin' Dan!! Are you taking them out of the tree tops or off the ground?

Hey, I got an early jump on this one! Happy Birthday TC, what's on for the day? Labor Day Picnic is down the street......

White knuckle all the way! I remember in my younger days in the late 80's when my buddy and I would drive 24 hours straight through to Colorado like it was almost nothing. We'd take a Thermos of coffee and hit the road......if I did that today I'd be hitting every rest stop/pull off etc starting at the Hamburg exit. Hell, it'd take us three days......

Just a highly polished turd my friend...........

I guess I'm officially an Old Bastard as I CAN'T stand driving at night, especially on the Governor Thomas E. Dewey Thruway. We had to go to a wedding in Geneva yesterday afternoon and had a great time, our old neighbor's son got hitched. Normally we'd get a room near the venue but we have a commitment this morning and more importantly, didn't want to spend $200 for a room. Google and the GPS said 1 hour 37 minutes.......Man O man do folks fly these days on that road! I guess the police have given up on policing it?? 75-85 mph doesn't phase people but I'm frazzled at the end of the drive! (ya have to go that fast or you'll be steam-rolled......) I had my contacts in for the day and yanked them out when we left, I feel like I can see better at night without them. It wasn't fun but we made it back by 12:30am, fat & happy. Beauty & The Beast........

When it comes to hunting & fishing, there isn't much I haven't done at least once........... Then there's ice fishing. Never done it but want, no, NEED to do it. So if we did catch a bunch of ice, what do we do with it?

Text Today....."60 on The Wire"
Lawdwaz replied to Lawdwaz's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
I've eaten hundreds...........nothing better IMO. Number one game bird in North America for good reason! -
Around 11:45am this morning I got a text message from a buddy. He was in the field in Pennsylvania, setting his dekes out for the 12:00pm start of the 1st day of the 2016 Dove Season. His setup was some 150 yards from the wire that ran parallel with the road. Good cover to hide in for him (not really a big deal with dove) and a good open spot to drop the doves and still be able to find them as he didn't have a dog. We talked a couple times during the day as it kills me to NOT be there then he said he was going to take a nap from 4-5:00pm then get back at it until quitting time. The final tally for the day was 7, not too shabby and plenty left for tomorrow.

Well heck, I don't blame you. $1350 for life lines is a total ripoff........ Who's going to fall? Stands/steps NEVER fail? I don't ever get sleepy in the saddle. I don't get excited when I cork a good buck (spike or doe too) and make hasty moves. I won't fall, impossible..................................
