I doubt it is steel but either way if they are in the original boxes it MUST say on them. I'm not much of a shotgun shooter anymore so am not up on all the latest stuff but usually non toxic stuff is more expensive and (I wouldn't think) it would be marked "all purpose game load". (are they from California?) I've been wrong a fair amount lately (odd I know) so don't take this to the bank...........

50 YEARS OLD? Wow...................................... Happy Birthday!!!!!

I wonder how Charlie knows FOR SURE that is the same buck all those years? Heck its a 3000 acre spread and I'm betting there are more than a few spikes/8pt bucks on site. Something about Charles Alsheimer has always bugged me. I saw him in person probably 15 years ago or more and I wasn't too impressed. Flame away...............................................

I see. Good thing as I was hoping you weren't going to misuse the system for your personal use. I know you'd never do that.......... How long were you a JP?

This looks like happenings

Damn, I was JUST going to post the same info. -
Are you looking for land within driving distance to hunt daily from home? What, approximately could you expect or hope to pay for that Biz? Priced per acre I assume?
-
OK, so you can't get that information anymore though?
-
All depends on the mast crop for me. I should have hunted one area way harder than I did, I REALLY dropped the ball on that.........................

How do you get that information?

Nice job Dr Kevorkian. You saved him from the coyote's wrath. Well done...................

Lawdwaz Whitetail Challenge thread
Lawdwaz replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in 2014 HuntingNY Whitetail Challenge
I'm done.........I hunted hard yesterday and this morning and have nothing to show for it. Yesterday was a full day in Canadice/Lima and I should have killed a doe in the afternoon. I had 5 doe/fawns in a field with a couple small bucks. They mingled around for ten minutes and I was trying to sort out the doe from the fawns with my binos. I'd pick out a doe, put the glasses down and pick up the gun, she'd move and I'd start over. Then a buck would go behind her or a fawn would be in front of her. After a bit they fed over about 30 yards further south and my shot was screened by some brush. I had her dead and dressed, just waiting on them to feed another 20 yards further south when all of a sudden they all spooked off and never stopped until they were 240 yards away! My best shot and it should have been a gimme was at 140 yards and I had a perfect rest. That was it. It was 4:10pm and I was left holding a wish in one had and my________in the other hand. This morning I hunted East Aurora for a few hours and saw zip.......................... The Fat Lady has sang her song and the curtain has fallen on another great season. -

From the start of the process....... Gutting: I've been using this Kershaw Gentleman's Folder for a few (?) years now and it is perfect for the job, IMO. The nice long slender point gets the a-hole done without any fumbling around. I don't know how many I've dressed with it since I got it but I'd guess 15-20. Skinning: Whatever I haven't used in a while could get the job here. I enjoy all my knives and they ALL get seat time. Here are a few that were used this year. (Geno Denning on top and next two down are Gene Ingram, the third is for boning out in the field and another Ingram) Boning out: These are all from a knife sharpening service that supplies the local restaraunts, meat markets etc with weekly sharp knives. Typically these are sold after they have been sharpened to a point that they aren't worthy of rental anymore, I get them for a couple bucks each and are sharp when I get them. Note the knife 2nd from the bottom, it is my favorite by a mile. It has a slight upward sweep to the blade and is has a very thin blade adding in flexibility. The rest are almost worthless........... All knives are sharpened on a Spyderco Sharpmaker as soon as they need it and they come back FAST with this set up. It doesn't scratch the blades, you can't cut yourself, works fast and is highly portable if your taking a trip. Remember: a sharp knife is a safe knife.

It really is a hoot when the conditions and the time is right. Not that I've done THAT much snowshoeing but when I have I usually enjoyed the heck out of it. You can do it in Amherst with the family.......... Or treck down to the wilds of Arcade with a friend.......... You don't always need 2' of snow either. A fire on the other hand is a necessity. .

Certainly not as big as some of the 6pts seen above but this is my coolest 6pt. Some of you might remember these pics from two (IIRC) years ago. This buck was a stud, 182lbs (IIRC) and aged at 3.5 by the DEC but I kind of doubt it. This is one buck I should have had aged the scientific way, after I did the European mount on him I could see even more interesting characteristics in him. His skull was wider in girth than any other buck I've killed and did a European mount on. The glands and facial structure were much more pronouced also. He has mass and width but lacked tines! 18" inside........ Honestly, he is one of the coolest bucks I've ever shot.

Good for you ncountry! That is what it's all about IMO. Shoot what YOU want, when you want. More pics when you have time!!

Another time that the backspace key gets the nod.........

I should add that the gun in the picture is for sale or will soon be..........it is a Weatherby Mark 5 Deluxe 30-06. It sports a Leupold 3-9 scope. The gun is circa 1977 or 78 and the scope is from the early 70's. Buehler mounts. That'd be a nice addition to your gun cabinet............

Cool, any plans for the evening with him? We are going over to his house for a shin dig........nothing fancy just pizza & wings. He just wants EVERYBODY to be there, my brother and sister, our spouses and all the grandchildren. This is what he did LAST Saturday....................... Pretty neat deal! I shot a buck in the morning and he killed this one around 4:10pm. I heard 4 shots and thought we were going to have rodeo on our hands!! No, he just got excited. The buck folded on the first shot then flopped around a little so he figured he'd keep shooting! Thankfully he only hit him one more time and that was in a front leg.

PBR...........in a pinch! No deer.........bummer!
-
I really enjoy snowshoeing but I need new ones. Mine are only about 20-25 years old and the raw hide is going south on me...............bummer. IIRC they came from Cabela's. Whatever I get I'll be putting my Bob Mackie rubber harnesses on them!! A year ago tomorrow we hunted in 3+ feet of snow down in Holland NY. It was a chore!

So your neighbor needs a headlight in the dark and you can see the deer working out to you? It must not be too dark then? No light for you but you do wear safety glasses? This thread is awesome!!!!!!
