  1. That is a very nice buck. A picture looking straight down on the jaw would be more helpful for guesstimates on age but he sure does have some wear regardless. Did you get a chance to put him on a scale?
  2. I've always said; If you're grilling it must be hot and fast, NOT slow and low. I've seen butcher shops with stacks of deer laying on the floor, waiting to be processed. Never liked that or the "community grind" Screw that, MY DEER/MY GROUND.
  3. How is the hunting there? I belong to Niagara County Sportsman's Club and rarely see deer on my way to shoot. I know they're around and you can sure get a bruiser of a buck up that way!
  4. Don't you live in Tonawanda? Hunt your sisters place or something up in Niagara County??
  5. Hey man.........IIRC I extended an offer of help two years ago. That is extended again............If I am able to help, I'll do what I can. You'll be fine, get some good time in during the next few weeks and stack 'em like cord wood.
  6. That's a pretty neat shot. Next year...............!!
  7. It'd be a hoot if they quarantined you and your building for 21 days. Then tell us how much fun the State of Emergency is.
  8. That's cool but it seems you mention injuries often?? No sweat, shoot a dandy tomorrow!!
  9. Wrenching a shoulder while muscling that PT SOB could get you MORE PT..........
  10. dbHunterNY and I PM'd back and forth a little the other day regarding aging deer. He asked if I would post up some pics of my bucks lower jaw for analysis. Here we go..........
  11. I have my doubts already ONLY because we've seen this stuff before.........I didn't watch the clip, I'll see what you guys say. I clicked on the link and the "pre-view" has me going with a furrowed brow........when I see a MONSTER buck walking in daylight I get suspicious.
  12. I forgot to mention: pick up a couple cans of spray paint and rattle can 'em. IIRC they weren't much more than 65-70 bucks a piece. Just something to chew on......................................
  13. Some piece of mind will come to those that use REAL ladders instead of homemade jobs! Ten years ago my buddy saw a sale at the hardware store and bought a bunch of decent aluminum extension ladders to be used with some hang on stands. Easy up/easy down. Tie the top in and you are cool as a cucumber.
  14. I'm sure it's just a roll of the dice with things like this. I gave one away last year that I bought 2nd hand in 1991 and I gave it to my buddy for his son. A customer sold me hers that was only a few years old for $100. A good score!!
  15. I said earlier in this thread that it HAS been correctly ID'd as a GRASS CARP! GRASS CARP GRASS CARP GRASS CARP
  16. Election week has been the week I take time off. If I didn't score then I still have time left. And like Phade said, it sure can be warm that week!
  17. All cut up then: wrapped back straps and tenderloins, ground about 25 lbs and canned the rest. Only thing left is sawing the skull up. Seems I always put that off until it is good and ripe.
  18. Sure looks like he is poaching but who knows? Snoop around and get back to us. Next question?
  19. Heck yes, they have short memories.
  20. wait, I just looked at your avatar, are you a dudette?
  21. Dude, it's all about the excitement! It just takes time to get it all in order. It ain't as easy as they make it look on TV. Those guys are hunting prime pieces of property usually that look to be loaded with game. Patience my little grasshopper..................... I've never even held a xbow so can't comment on them. Don't give up on the vertical bow!
  22. There are two ponds fairly close. One is very small and I doubt it came from it but the other is pretty big and I'd guess that is where it came from. Might be it croaked and the landowner tossed it in the brush and a coon or something drug its carcass around?? They were found on the edge of the woods/field. Pretty weird deal.......
