About 25 years ago I was in a tree that was only about 50% alive......half way through opening day I THOUGHT I butted out my cigar that I sent in a dead spot in a crotch of the tree and it started it on fire. Smoldered for a few hours.............. I bet I can think of a few more good stories..........

Sounds like a fun sit! One time (and I wasn't there in the field but I heard the story that night at camp) in PA two good friends were hunting the same field at opposite ends. IIRC correctly they climbed into their stands around 3:00pm. Around 3:30pm 'Ol Wally sneaks into Gerry's stand as quietly as a 65 year old cigarette smoking stinking (said very lovingly!) old dude can do........Gerry looks down and says quietly WTF? Wally says, "hey Gerry, can I borrow a couple arrows?" Gerry shakes his head in disgust and send a couple down for Wally. It seems Wally left his bow quiver and all its contents back at his home in Amherst! He actually grabbed his bow from its soft case, hiked into his stand, climbed up and THEN noticed he had no ammo:) We had a ton of fun the next day trying to get an arrow to shoot out his old Jennings Arrow Star bow!! Great times man, great times. We just buried "ol Wally this past May, I think of him daily.

Do the police have nuisance permits? Oh yea, are you allowed to be walking the grounds of the police shooting range?

In your first picture he looks to have a big body, did you weigh him? Take that jaw downtown on to the DEC and have a biologist look at it. They are on Michigan Ave right by the newer Injun casino. You can't judge a buck's age by his headgear; body maybe but rack no after they pass 1.5 years old. I've mentioned this before and most are tired of hearing it but my oldest aged buck was 5.5 year old and only sported a decent little 8pt rack.

Not THAT uncommon for a 3.5 year old. Heck, plenty of guys (maybe most) have never killed a 3.5 year old buck.

Don't sweat it, I'd have sluiced him in a heartbeat!! Very, very few deer ever see 4.5 years of age. They might live that long but few hunters kill them..........

Excellent! Where are you going in Colorado? First Rifle? Guided or DIY? Horses? Tent Camp, back of truck, cabin, hotel or ????? Weapon? Ammo? Fly vs drive? How long? You better have a gaggle of pics when you come back or DON'T.

Follow those big flocks of mallards when they lift off from the water and see who's farm feed they light into. Then, secure permission. You can get early morning and late afternoon hunts in that will blow your mind. Ain't the same as hunting water but highly productive when you find the field they are feeding in.

Yes, I've had some success with a bleat call in a can from Quaker Boy. I've never had much luck with a grunt call but just purchased a new one referenced here on this site that sounds better than anything I have personally used or heard. I've rattled a few bucks in over the years but never a hog.

Great picture! Any luck? Hardwood is in medina, right? Speaking of Medina, have you ever been to the Mexican restaurant on Rt 31 just east of Rt 63? I heard it is terrific. Actually I went out of my way yesterday to stop there and they are closed on Monday's.........damn the luck!

I don't think I'll get out at all to my main area for a couple weeks. Maybe I can hit East Aurora next week but certainly not sooner. Too much going on now. One thing guys have to remember, don't sweat it about HAVING to be out now or even in the next few weeks; the good stuff won't be here until the 25th. That's when LOVE is in the air.......
