The Tikka is a wonderful gun. The only thing that is a draw back is the detachable mag but I'm getting past that...........after buying a .223 about 7-8 years ago, amazingly we still haven't lost that magazine.

A 300win mag is more than enough for any North American Big Game. Saying that, a good old 30-06 would do ANYTHING that 99% of us here are EVER going to hunt. If you're a "gun guy", you need to experience a 300 mag yourself. Be it a Weatherby, Winchester, Holland & Holland or even the cute little Winchester Short Mag. They are a blast............uggh! Oh......The 30-06 is plenty of whoop for a coastal brown bear also. Remember........."Bullet & Placement Trump Headstamp"

On more than one ocassion I've had them walk amongst and in a gut pile from the day before.

Amen brutha. There ain't much more gratifying than slipping one in tight to the shoulder with a cedar shaft that you stained, dipped, crested and fletched then tipped with a broadhead YOU put the edge on after months of practice and painfully calloused fingers. You clench your fist and quietly pump it as he speeds away with a growing crimson stain on his rib cage.............. then you here the crash. BUT.......if you haven't put the time in, you just gut shot him.

I got my wife an Ipod 2 but I think we are returning it for an Ipod Air. A little faster an maybe a better camera. (that she'll never use......) I was also surprised and disappointed to see they don't have SD card slots. It would have been the cats azz for checking trail cam pics. IT guys: How come they don't do that??

I donated two this year to my friends family members, nice ones too. It really tugs at my stomach and taste buds when I do that but in the long run all is good........ Nice gesture growie.

Here is a buck his son killed in 2006 further south than the buck from yesterday. I was hunting with them at the time but ate tag soup. It was a fun hunt but my mind wasn't in it because I had just finished up working 10 days straight after the October Surprise snow storm and was mentally whooped......... Quite a nice buck for the young man...........

Here we go: Pretty nice buck to close out the season! Did I mention it is archery season? Dan.....I'd gladly purchase either half of the elk or deer points if it was possible!! I bet we would have a pretty good time together.................

My first game cam, a Scout Guard 550 (I think thats what they called it) has been a trooper. I've got tons of great shots with it and it never let me down, even after a cub bear chewed on it one night..... This past fall I THOUGHT I had put new batteries in it and it was working great until about November 5-6 IIRC. I pulled the card after a week or so and NOTHING! I couldn't believe it. It couldn't be the batteries I mumbled to myself later that day. Well, I left it in the tree with another card in it for a few weeks as it wasn't a priority at that point. I finally pulled the cam on the last weekend of RIFLE season (gosh I like saying that!) and haven't messed with it until tonight. I plugged in the remote and the little red light wasn't red, it was blue. WTH?? Tossed in 8 new batts and she is reborn!! I thought she had gone tits up. Yahoo! My inventory is at max operating capacity, 3 units. All is good...........................................

A good friend of mine called me tonight after he hit a real nice buck late this afternoon in Colorado. He hunts south of Denver in the river bottoms. I've seen the country and it just reeks of fun...... He gave the deer 30 minutes and found it right where he thought he last saw it, piled up. He (like growie) had knee surgery three weeks ago and had to drag the beast 600yds back to the Toyota. He said his knee feels great! This is his 5th buck in 5 years at this new hunting area This one is a muley but whitetails abound also. We first met in high school back in '75 and were very close until he bailed in '84 for Colorado. We have hunted together a fair amount since he left; Wyoming, Colorado and here in NYS. He is going to text or email me pics and if they are worthy I'll hang 'em here.
