Great job, G. Seems like a 400lb bear would be older than 5 years old but only obviously WTF do I know.......!! Looking forward to the follow up report.
-
Atta boy, Pops! Brings a smile to my face when the kid has as much or more enthusiasm than dad!! Good job Jr. for getting dad revved up.

No longer for sale.

Looks like he has a collar? Hopefully no leash!!

Size 7 5/8" Blaze Orange Stormy Kromer. I've had it for a couple years and it is just too tight. $27 shipped.

Great buck! As already mentioned, nice regroup after the dud. I'd be SOL with my ML'er. That's a good poke for any ML gun, well done.
-
Pretty powerful stuff here. I think about this subject from time to time. I guess i could see myself hanging up the guns & bows someday. I think I understand the feelings.......... Good luck man!

Hey WNYbackStrapHunter, I just put my cursor on your name and it said you were reading the thread about "Rochester area taxidudes" so your buck must be gonna go on the wall? Pics man, pics. The taxidude can wait until morning..........

Ha, now that you mention it, I'd trade that tv for 4 Easton ACC 360 shafts and a judo head!!! Good thinking woolster!!

It was like slooooooow motion when that darned bow took off................and bounce? WOW! Honestly, I just kind of chuckled at the whole thing as I stood on my platform looking down on the heap-O-bow laying on the forest floor. You dropped a gun, say it ain't so? <grin>
-
Sounds like a nice deal! Any pics available?
-
Well, did you get any clever tips yet? I'd send you koozie but they are for slooooooow drinkers and I don't have any on hand. Make sure you have a real good knot on that haul rope or you'll look like a big ass........ Have a nice Thanksgiving!!

You guys make me laugh! All good stories, I can see I'm not the first.......<grinning> The real funny thing is Pygmy sent me an email a couple weeks ago about one of his good friends and how he had just shot a great buck but also dropped his bow! I wish I had just corked a good buck too, it'd take SOME of the sting away............<still grinning> I've certainly know what to do when it comes to a new haul rope connection but this stick deal had worked good for sooooo many years, damn the luck. With my climber I have two haul ropes onboard. One for my weapon of choice and the other for a pack. The weapon haul has a small carabiner attached and works A O K.

Last Friday morning as I got ready to get out of my stand after my last bow hunt for the season, I pulled my haul rope up and slipped the tied on stick between the splint limbs of my bow. With the bow in my left hand and the haul rope in my right, I let go of the bow and then the knot slipped out of the stick! The bow was positioned with the feathers down and three of the arrows got stuck in the grate of the stand, bent in all kinds of different places and then the bow went cartwheeling off into outer space. It hit the forest floor and bounced a couple feet in the air with arrows flying all over! Thank goodness I was hunting in the pines and that maybe helped to cushion the blow. Three arrows were junk. The bow appeared fine so I went back to the truck and took a few shots with the judo tipped ACC shaft that I keep handy. Well, on the fourth shot the judo (impossible to loose) tipped shaft buried under the tall grass and could not be found. SOB! 4 ACC shafts (3 broke, 1 lost), $50 1 judo head, $5 New string, $80 (good idea) Quality time in the woods= Priceless.

I shot this buck on Saturday around 9:45am. He came out of the pines to my north east and was heading south west at a slow walk. I watched him for probably 30-45 seconds before the shot. Perfect quartering on shot at about 60 yards, standing. He ran to about 17 yards from me and dropped. I pulled the jaw and will have him aged by the DEC people at some point as he is certainly not a young buck. He dressed out at 182lbs and had an 18" inside spread. These big bastards are really a pain in the azz to haul around. The normal hoist with the crappy thin nylon line isn't the best thing for getting a buck this big off the ground. The meat yielded from this kept my wife and I busy for hours. I used my NULA 50cal smokeless gun with Parker bullets. Shot him in Canadice. Here is a pic of my buck on the right with my buddies 10pt, also shot the first day with a LH NULA smokeless! We had a great day!

This thread should have died FAST. Good Lord, tie the freaking rope around the scope and bounce it off the ground a few times. Integrity will be determined and you will have an idea of what you can get away with. Your more than welcome.

It has a wonderful picture! I could lower the price to $50 & a 6pk. Talk to me.......... -
Same way I have do it for 30 years. Saran Wrap, freezer paper, masking tape & a Sharpie. I spent 6 hours yesterday skinning, boning, cutting, grinding and wrapping. My wife pitched in when it was time to wrap as I had just about had it I was so tired. Second greatest feeling in the world when that job is done. Don't even think about asking what the best feeling is..........<grin>
