  1. Bummer. I'm in the 2011, 16th Edition. Your loss...............<grin>
  2. At first I didn't catch your "lol" Good thing I re-read it and caught it 'cause I was getting ready to give you some schit! He's a dandy!
  3. The subscription price is soooo cheap you wouldn't believe it. It is the only one I get now, other than NYOutdoor News and NYBowhunters (Lifemember #13 or I'd tell them to stuff it) these days. 3 years of F&S is like $20 or something when you get the right offer. After reading, it makes good filler when mailing EBay stuff I sell. <grin>
  4. I shouldn't admit it but I do. Most of the magazine is crap but occasionaly they'll have some good articles ot tips. The back page article by Bill Heavey is worth the price of a subscription. I get a kick out of his writing and get his humor. This month he has a great piece. It is about makin' meat. He hits the nail on the head about the entire process. Read it & let me know what you think.
  5. Those are some great looking guns you guys are using! Damn, you must have a few bucks tied up in them. Have you killed lots of coyotes with them? I rarely see the darn things when I have a gun in my hand. Anybody ever kill a coyote, on purpose? Not while deer hunting? Put up a couple pictures...... Thanks!
  6. THAT is the understatement of the year! He is a giant. Look at the size of the bases and how close they are. Damn.......... Put a tape to that stud. (Sam, your azz is gonna be in big trouble when The Hartford finds out you killed their buck....)
  7. Crossman 760 will get it done if the conditions are right. If conditions aren't good, 223ai.
  8. I just did two in the past few days but I cook them outside in a 5gal bucket with a hot water tank element heater. (made for heating 5gal buckets of H2O) I didn't think they stunk too bad and my neighbors are still smiling.
  9. Did you grab that picture from antlers web site? I didn't see it.......(although I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer) http://www.nyantler-outdoors.com/2012-new-york-whitetails.html
  10. Cooling a deer fast is also a key to "stinkless" and better tasting venison.

I have a spot near the school off Center Rd. This year really sucked for bow season as the property owner has let two other guys hunt it along with me. The property is 7 acres but you can only hunt an area 300' x 180'. Yup, three guys in that little area don't work They just don't get it.........(and the two other guys suck for even messing with a spot that small that someone else is already working) I'll try and give it a shot with the ML. Maybe.........
  12. After reading WNYBuckHunter's post and taking another look, it could be him. Where in Canadice is your land? You can PM me the info. if you'd like.
  13. Thats what I like about it, the long shot possibility. Last year I had a running shot at a 6pt across that big field. I didn't have a prayer, he was hauling azz! I might have had a chance at him if I had my (uggh) Ithaca pump gun!! That picture of the "kill zone" is zoomed in a bit if I recall correctly. The field continues up and gives you about a 455 yard max area (safely) to shoot, looking west. To the north I would have a 100 yard shot. East is only about a 60 yard shot and I rarely even checked it. South, south west and of course west are my best views. Last year I killed the doe to the east at 236 yards. (all my numbers are via a laser range finder, no speculation!)
  14. Nice going, I'd also be damned proud of him.
  15. Ain't that the truth. I think it'd be a real difficult thing for the DEC to ticket a guy for. Gimme a break man.........
  16. Good deal on the lifesize mount. A rug is cool but difficult to display well. 408lbs is awesome. Well done.
  17. Hey G, what are you going to do with the skull, do it yourself or send it out? That dude (maybe I missed it, male or female?) must have a great melon!! Think bugs..............<grin>
  18. I filled my buck tag and left with two unfilled doe tags. Between two full days in October during the early ML season and Monday's rifle opener I couldn't kill a doe. I could have stayed and hunted Tuesday but instead I had to skin, quarter and bone my buck then do a rough but compliant job on the skull for transporting back to NYS. HUGE pain in the ass......... The last thing I needed at that time was to mess with another deer. I just don't like having to process two at a time anymore BUT, after that one is in the freezer, I'm ready to hit the bush again!! How'd you guys do?
  19. That "hut" sure ain't pretty but it is functional! It was an old hay wagon we hauled out of the hedge row where it sat for 20 years and gave it a new purpose. Rough as hell looking but if the weather turns sour it is fairly dry.
  20. Shot a buck in PA. on Monday. I haven't killed one since 2007 there and it's only the second since the 3pt rule for me. I've seen only one since then that got by me and that was a swing & a miss. (or 3, hauling azz across the field) This on is a nice 8pt. 215 yard shot, 243 Winchester, Barnes 80gr TTSX handloads. No fancy recovered bullet pictures with this one, sorry! The shooting hut....(at the end of the day, no I didn't drive in in the morning) The gun, perched and ready to roll... The buck was at the top of the little island on brown grass, 215 yards. Going from right to left. If not spooked, they will hesitate for a second when they hit the lane, check for traffic then proceed. (or die)... Hero shots...
  21. The one on Monday in PA. was in & out and now resides in the Tioga County turf. The one in the link bellow is in my hand as the post notes. Stem to stern, probably 40" on drilling before it ran out of gas............<grin> I'd say that the 80gr Barnes works for me and will probably work for you!
  22. I killed another one with the 243 yesterday in PA. 80gr Barnes TTSX, 3400fps. 215 yard shot. He was probably 150lbs dressed. The 243 is just dandy for deer.
