  1. I like the entire place to myself if you find birds. I don't want anybody honing in on a good area. Lets try and keep this quiet.
  2. Personally, I like dots...............................................................................................................
  3. Think they'll get it in today? I doubt it. Even tomorrow looks bleak........... Danica will win it for sure..............................................................<grin> What say you, who's going to pull this one out at the end?
  4. My post above is only some points in regard to BO and gutting. The father screwed up, big time. He shouldn't have been hunting, that seems obvious NOW. What did the family know? Should they have taken his gun away? Kind of like taking the keys from elderly folks that shouldn't be driving, no? Appears to me that the son bears no fault in the matter, only a lack of judgement and a poor choice. He broke no laws. Another horrible mistake, unfortunately. (Boy do I miss my spell check)
  5. A couple BO points...... 1) I wear a BO vest when gun hunting, when I kill a deer, I take my heavy clothes off but put my BO vest back ON. 2) A couple times this year i used the LONG cuff gutting gloves and, when wearing them, you DON'T have to take any clothes off, like: your BO coat. Leave it on to do the deed..... 3) If I'm not in a field, but in the woods, I hang my vest in a tree, in plain sight, when swapping garments. 4) Crap, I forgot what else I had to say.............................
  6. If you find some birds DON'T talk about it here. PM me......................<grin>
  7. Why do you even need a light on your sight these days? The fiber optic sights available today can take you WAY past legal shooting time (if you desire) without any lights. My HHA sight is amazing. I can't believe how well it works.
  8. Don't give up. When you get a good one you'll have a blast with it. Maybe time to try another brand?
  9. Wait a minute......woodies already? Thats pretty cool. How many cameras do you have out? Seems like a pile of different set ups. Nice......
  10. Nice....... Open sights or scope? Do you handload for it, if so, what bullet/powder?? Thanks. Maybe the OP can get some tips from you??
  11. How many deer have you killed with the 357?
  12. I don't think THAT is legal either...............................<grin>
  13. I saw on the local news here tonight that the father is in rough shape from a terminal disease and has no recollection of the incident. Strange deal........
  14. I was thinking of the robo dove decoys in Pennsylvania that we wanted (!) to use. The Robo duck is legit here in NYS.
  15. Spring turkey season can bring out some "stalkers" . Guys will hear a hen turkey call and start stalking it. Lord knows I've had guys sneak in on my calling. Very scary stuff when your sitting still, with your back to tree and you see a shadowy figure sneeking in on a hen call that your making. Add a real gobbler gobbling in the distance and guys get a bit anxious and loose the few marbles the might have left in their melon. I've never been shot at but I've been stalked more than a few times on VERY private property by guys trespassing and it'll scare the B-jeezuz out of you. If you use that decoy, with a BEARD of all things, honestly, your taking a VERY dangerous step. It ain't worth it, I promise you.
  16. Good on you for checking with "the man" <grin> Hopefully its a legal as it looks like you put plenty of thought into it. STILL.......................an orange strap around the tree your hiding by wouldn't be a bad idea.
  17. Is that thing going to be legal? Motorizied decoys for waterfowl are not. I know you don't have any amplified calls coming from it but, wow. I think your pushing it a bit. Regardless, I wouldn't hunt with that thing near me. Great way to get shot........................ You insured? As usual, I'm probably missing part of the story. Fill me in!
  18. What kind of safety harness was NYBOB wearing when he had this trouble?
  19. Coming into Buffalo? I'd be surprised if the Gun Center doesn't have it.
  20. Too bad on the Porkers, Pygmy. Sounds like it was a great trip nontheless!
  21. Your FIRST handgun? And you want to start with a gun for deer/bear? Price range? Recoil tolerance? Scope? Revolver, semi auto, break action or bolt action? Hold on, have you shot a handgun much? Ah heck, buy a .22 semi auto or revolver, shoot a couple thousand rounds this summer and have fun!! Learn and get some experience.
  22. Nice healthy looking critters.
  23. My, what healthy critters you have! Both the fox & the 'yote look like they have been eating well.
  24. The Spyderco is the best thing to hapen to MY sharpening skills in 50 years. <<grin>>
  25. Electric sharpener is going to be fast & easy but would take off to much steel per use than I'd like. If you have inexpensive knives, no problem. The rental places use cheaper knives and grind the snot out of them and eventually just junk them. Hand sharpening would be too time consuming for them. I have been using a Spyderco product for 5-7 years now and have been very happy with it.......................... http://spyderco.com/catalog/details.php?product=77
