My brother's 2011 installment of Adirondack MOOSE
Lawdwaz replied to sampotter's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
Very cool. -
I'll bring ya some of my venison....................<grin> Can't wait to hear about the adventure. Welcome home!

Oh yea, very nice!

This afternoon I got a chance to shoot a friends Elite bows, a Hunter and a Pulse (or was it a Pure?) They were both very smooth, fast and quiet. His were puling 65lbs. and I'd really like to give a couple cranks on a 55-58lb set up. I'll hit a pro shop maybe during the season when they slow down a bit. Thanks for the feedback and keep it coming!
-
Anybody shooting one of the Elite bows? I know they are a local (Henrietta) outfit. Heard plenty of good things about them but some input from folks here would be peachy. Thanks.............

Edit to add that I hate those critters. Nasty little pricks. A couple ate both hindquarters out of a buck twenty years ago I had hanging in my pals barn. I thought it was barn cats until we got both of the culprits in a live trap also. Never liked before or since................................

That mouth looks like a good place for a 10/22 barrel. <no grin>

All levels of "membership" are based on how much you "donate" to the site. What level did you sign up for? I'm in at $100 <grin>

Congrats to your brother, the genius.
-
Good luck to your brother in his REAL job. That website is trash. You'd have to be a freakin jack off to read more than two of those and not flush the entire web site. $25k? Must be your brother and his friends lack common sense. Your brother will be a perfect fit for a PhD. Congrats?

A post on here this morning gave me an idea. When I hang a camera, I usually try and conceal the method of attachment (cord, strap and/or cable lock) from bad guys. I could care less of course what the deer see. Typically I'll just grab some live or dead foliage, bark etc. and stuff it in and around the attachment and even close to the camera. Sometimes it doesn't work real good, just O.K. though. Yesterday I put a camera out and used some huge pieces of bark........ Well, on this mornings new post about a camera holder a member here made I noticed what I assume is fake (plastic) foliage wrapped around the stake/pole for concealment and camouflage. I'll grab some off that phony stuff and use it instead of the real stuff as it can be attached better and should do a good job. (it would also give me a good place to spread my Limburger)
-
You sure you didn't spread a little Limburger on the leaves?? <grin> Great job on the stand. I'm building one just like it, thanks for the idea! I really like the idea of the fake foliage around the stake.

I'd never admit to any number on the 'web. I hardly get out at all......................

Depending on finances, many options are available. If you went with a 700 Youth gun, when he gets a bit bigger you can swap out the youth stock for an adult sized McMillan/Remington/HS etc. Accuracy is generally terrific, it'll kill like a lightning bolt and give Jr. plenty of confidence without sending him on his can! I'm 99% positive the 243 will be the gun I carry in PA this fall and also in Wyoming County, NY. Load development is close to being done and looks very good! Let us know what you decide & good luck!

Well, it's Sunday, the last day of Pygmy's hunt. Hopefully it was safe & successful. I was going to say something witty about how'd I'd love to try some moose meat someday but that wouldn't be very classy and I surely don't want to put Dan on the spot with an Internet buddy and all so I won't. Hey Pygmy, If you run out of freezer space, I sure like to offer up some square footage in mine.............................<grin>
-
Good start? Yup. I'd say so. Good going. You sure your son didn't tag one? (oh, never mind)
-
Let them trap until gun opens. They won't bother the archery hunting a bit. See my avatar? That is from a killer Livingston/Ontario County trapper. He sent me the pic from his phone just before he dropped the hammer. You know, seems like the more you trap them, the more show up! Trail cameras prove that! Also, the guys that run them with dogs can be your friend. Although 30 some acres isn't much of a tract for running dogs it'd good for them to know they are welcome to hit it. Good luck.................
-
He's probably one of those guys that speeds and rolls through stop signs also. Bastids...........

Talk about strange eating habits, I've seen deer eating out of a gut pile that was a couple days old. THAT was kind of freaky! (I assume eating partially digested stomach contents) Top it...........................<grin>

Barnes Vortex 243 Winchester 80gr TTSX bullets. Absolutely knock those PA deer into OHIO! (better line up a butcher NOW)

When I was just a kid and out small game hunting back in the mid 70's, I would take a Pennsylvania Game News with me and read it cover to cover while waiting for the wily bushy tail to show up. I never killed many but I sure had a good time. The Game News fit in the game bag of my Duxbak coat just fine but it DID get a bit bloody on occasion. These days, I'd need my reading glasses and, well, you get the idea......

LOL.....this is turning into a small (one ring) circus. I have one camera under an apple tree and the others on trails. Maybe I'll put out a bottle of Makers Mark and a good stogie and see what I get. Probably look like me in the pics.

Immoral would be more like it!
