Slow day in 4A. First shit rang out at 6:15. Had a small buck chasing does at about 8am. Shots stopped around 9am.

There is a lot of confusion regarding the use of crossbows. You only need the Muzzle Loader privilege to use a crossbow during those parts of the season. You DO NOT need the MZ privilege to use the crossbow during early bear or the regular season.. You can use the Crossbow the entire regular season if you so choose to. Why you need if for early bow (last 14 days of Southern Zone) I have no idea. I expect in the next couple years, you need a separate tag for the crossbow. Anyway, right now, you do not need the MZ tag unless using the Crossbow during the last 14 days of bow or the last 9 days of the season. Around what area of 4J you hunting? Isnt it a bit crowded?

I shoot a Pursuit also, I never had good luck with saboted rounds. I switched to 245 gr powerbelt aerotips they load great.

Off topic but I don't think this is completely true! It is not trespassing if property is not posted and unimproved, apparently unused and unfenced.....

What were you considering without municipal utilities? 10K is fair, considering you'll have the septic tank itself (500-750 gal average, if I recall), diverted box, pipe, fittings, bedding and excavation.

Its just starting to pick up in 4A, but nothing exciting yet. Seen a 6-8 pt thus morning but didnt seem to have a care in the world about the rut.

Take a look at the poll numbers by county..... Its Disgusting!!! Cuomo only won maybe 2-5% by County. Then look at the actual number of voters. I almost thru up! 10,827,434 active registered voters 3,446,987 actually voted!!! As a state (general statement) we as a hole have dug our own hole!

Thanks all! The only thing i have not done yet is a mid day sit (10 am - 3pm) for example. Its been to warm in my opinion. The only fear i have is getting "Burned Out" way to early. Im just excited to get out there and i know it will pick up.... I think all the trail cam pics are just add to my frustration. Five different bucks three "shooter" bucks.

I have not seen a single deer. I think I was busted a week or so ago getting to my stand, but that is all. I have a ton of pics on the trail cam, oddly best bucks I've ever. Same as last season, they just don't seem to move during daylight hours. Bummer!!!

At the end of the day it doesn't matter. Some have there opinions which is fine.....

last season was a rough one for me. Seen a lot of dear during bow but didn't get a shot. Gun season was horrible, I didn't see anything until the last day of the season, the button buck was one of them. Like I said I didn't know at the time I shot him. Easy call to make early in the season. Not so much on the last day.

Meat first. i will admit I shot a button buck last day of the season last year... and was a bit sad that I did. I didn't know it was a button buck at the time though.

FYI: You are NOT required to have MZ tag to use a crossbow. Unless of course you are hunting that portion of the season. But it is not required for thee regular firearm season.
