  1. Well I looked over everything I have, 5 boxes of "All Purpose", 2 Boxes of "Game Load" and 1 Box of "Target". I'm pretty sure all are lead. I'm not so much concerned about where I can use it, but more if I can use it. I converted my 870 to a turkey and deer gun. I have an older Savage model 720 that can't handle steel or other non-toxic loads. Either way, I'm confident that non-toxic loads would be marked as such. Thanks for the input all....
  2. Question..... I have quite a few boxes of 12 gauge shot, Game Loads, All Purpose..... How does one tell if it is Lead or Non-Toxic load?
  3. when the temperatures are mild (40's) i'll head in about 45 minutes before legal light. When it's cold out, I'll head in at legal light +/- 5 minutes. I'm not interested in wasting time just getting cold. I would rather have the extra time during legal shooting hours.
  4. 20-24 inches of damp heavy snow in parts of 4A. Trees down, limbs broke, can't see a thing. Last evening I couldn't even tell if I was the main trail! URGH I had high hopes for this weekend.
  5. I don't see the relationship between Facebook and the recertification process!
  6. Not all pellets are created equal! Meaning they will all weigh differently. Some may be around 80% less in wieght compared to lose powder. Also, check each pellet MFG but I believe most already list them as volumetric equivalents. Just double check this is only my 2 cents.
  7. Two seasons ago, i was hunting new property and the neighbor shot a nice 8 pnt that couldnt have been 50 yatds behind my stand. The damn deer came crawling past me dragging his ars on the ground bawling the hole time. I shot it and heard "WO". Got to the dear and it was a real thick boned 8. It had been hit high in the hip with bad spinal damage from the first shot. There was no discussion who was taking the dear i didnt want it. It would have blead to death but i couldnt stand the noise it was making. I guess my point is... It was an eventual fatal shot but the worst one ive ever seen.
  8. An 11 year ild kid!!!! The buck was his in my opinion! Hope the older guy chokes on it. Now if it was two adults, the first fatal shot, a finishing doesn't count!
  9. Thompson Contender .41 mag, 10" I also carry a .357 when carring a R, SG or MZ
  10. Heart and Liver!!! Heart is the first meal after the harvest! Always....

  12. I've been hunting for about 30 uears and I dtill have to slow myself down whrn a deer is in range. So yes! We are all that "Obsessed", some of us need a little schooling and a couple more years of experience! if you think you're all that get over youself or get your own TV show! Just stop bashing a fellow hunter for asking a question or confessing to an error of judgement!
  13. Skillet! Thank You! Its about time we 'As a Group' support rather bash. Peter! Lesson learned keep hunting!
  14. OCD???? JK! It takes a long time to get a mature buck. It took me 10 years for my first 3.5 year old, another 3 years after that one. You're doing it right! Just keep at it. Luck is as good as skill and prep! Just have fun!
  15. Maybe it was a 9MM but in think Ruger made them well into the 90's.
  16. It depends on the area you hunt. Areas that see a lot of pressure the deer will lay low during the day, while others that don't the deer will go back to a normal routine is a couple days. It was a slow weekend in my area, not a lot of shooting at all and nothing remotely close to me. So that's good, i don't suspect the deer will change anything. I saw a couple small bucks chasing Saturday, but was it. Nothing at all Sunday. So I would think my chances are better than normal as the season goes on.
  17. Looking at his face i would say he is an older buck, 4+! Well done!
