I've been lucky, but all my cams are on our property, although I did get 2 people on camera looking at my cam this summer. Turns out the new guy who bought a house with an acre or two of land next to us decided to take a long walk with a buddy. My dad kindly asked he's stays on his land.

I have an area I'm trying to enhance bedding and cover so hinge cutting is where you cut the tree just over half way thru, just enough for it to come down and still be intact to the trunk. Depending on the tree and the cut the tree can live a few yrs providing food and cover.

Shed hunt a ton and mark down where I found scrapes. Finish food plot, hinge cut, plant pine trees and I think that's it.

Stupid spell check, debone

Devine, then partially freeze it, makes it much easier for cutting steaks

Large food plot suggestions.
Zag replied to zeus1gdsm's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
It's tough to answer your 1st question without seeing the entire layout but I'd say thicker is generally better. For the plots I'd do soybeans and late summer seed over it with oats. Check out growing deer t.v., tons of good info. -
I have two, In front of the urinal it said stand closer is not as big as u think, In the crapper, send me you poop pic with a phone number next to it

I think that's what were going to do. Will have the food plot that's longest length runs north to south. The south west side will transition below into a pond. Hence having a dozer come in.

Thanks for the insight DBH, I was hoping you would chime in. I'm thinking that having a stand on the edge of this could help catch bucks cruising thru each pine stand as he searches for does. I think once the seasons over ill get in their and map out where I want to clump them and how many trees ill need. Then finish hinge cutting the area and have it ready for a spring planting. Anyone ever plant goldenrod? That or some native grass frost seeded. That's what id want around the pines.

Yep till u get a good baseline ph

Well I'm chomping at the bit to get back going on this. Freezers full so its time to switch gears. First task will be clearing out all the firewood piles. I counted over 20 a few weeks ago walking by it on my way to a stand. Were getting a dozer this spring so what we don't have finished the dozer will. We have a bunch of things going so and I'm excited to see the end results!!

If you have good soil I wouldn't worry about it to much as long as your rotating crops. If you have a low ph and continually add lime I would do it once a yr to track it. Once you find the right balance I would go every two yrs.

no there isn't. This location works for multiple reasons but mainly because they use it to an extent now and its located about dead center in the property.

Ill be looking to grab white pine probably from the dec and norways I can get 2-4ft potted locally.

So this winter ill be continuing multiple projects. One being a sanctuary/bedding area. Its currently being used for some bedding. So ill be continuing to hinge cut the 8 acre area mostly made up of ash and maple (small to mid diameter). After hinge cutting ill be adding clumps of pine trees through out the 8 acre area for bedding cover. So I'm thinking of planting clumps of pine trees maybe 5 or 6 in kind of an L shape. L shape to protect them from the w/sw winter winds while proving them sunlight during the day. The other thought was to just plant them 2 next to each other then one then 2 again. Thoughts?

Depending on the area $1800 isn't that high. Wheels I wrote a piece on this exact scenario that was put on deer and deer hunting site, I'll pm you the story and hope it helps.

Zag replied to burmjohn's topic in Deer Hunting
Hunting with my son this am with a fresh coat of snow, dang kid spotted the lone doe before I did. Anyways he experienced our first kill together during gun season. Freezers in good shape now. Time to start transitioning to habitat work. -
Yeah he mentioned that. Ill be looking for you if I shoot it!!
