  1. Bucks tags filled, not to shabby for 3 acres. Not much happens back there till the rut.
  2. These guys came thru today. The big body one I saw Monday morning, he walked right by my stand.
  3. Gosh, I'd think that's way to much work. When deer eat the Apple's off all my trees they eat them unsolved.
  4. Live from my back yard, have grunt call, bleat can and rattle bag. gonna just experiment with calling.
  5. I walked out behind my house and had a big buck cruising thru. Right after a 7 or 8pt came thru with a doe. He chased her around till exhaustion. She bedded down and he is sitting on my path waiting. It was pretty cool to see his breath, looked like a smoke stack when he stopped running
  6. I heard they had 40 calls just yesterday.
  7. Ok quick back drop to this. My 8yr really wanted to get a deer together this yr. I've been slacking because I've just been buying.using single ladder stands. So our only option was a ground blind I made or a permanent stand that we barely squeeze into. So last sunday after we hunting in the am I had a double stand to hang and I gave him two options on potential sites. So he chose this spot where we sat tonight. My brother bought an xbow this summer but since he tagged a nice buck already he didn't plan on hunting much so he told he I could use his. So my son and I went over this afternoon and got the low down on how it works and shot it a couple time came home and headed to the land around 330. We were about 40 minutes into the hunt when I caught movement way off and could see it was a buck. He quickly headed our way. I grabbed the bow off the hook and told my son this might happen. As he got closer he started drifting to our left. He hit the lane way I gave him a baahhh and he stopped. I took the shot (42yrds) and watched him run a short distance and then into some brush where I couldn't see him. I keep trying to glass into the brush looking for any sign of him but couldn't see. A few minutes later I see a deer to the left of this brush in a little more open area and its him standing there appearing to be tending is wound in the shoulder area. He does this for a long few minutes and starts coming in behind us. I see all sorts of black stuff on his back side and I start wondering what the heck did I do. So I reload the xbow in all of this and he comes in around 35-40 behind us I baahh him again he stops I shoot off he goes. We waited for my brother to arrive take up the track and he was 30yrs from the 2nd shot. The first shot was just under the heart/chest area not a kill shot and the 2nd was a direct heart shot. It was awesome and my son was so excited through out the whole thing. We talked about it all they way home and reminded him were very lucky and fortunate for who we are and what were able to do. So the bucks nick name is dingle berry. I've never seen a buck with crap and dingle berries all over the place. Best hunt by far super pumped. I guess I wont need my week vacation next week. Main frame 10 with a broken droptine that just measures an inch
  8. I'll get more in the harvest thread later
  9. My son and I scored a nice buck with my brothers xbow, our first deer together, hell yeah
  10. Back at it with my son. Since my bro tagged a buck he let me use his brand new xbow. I hope it gets interesting.
  11. No zoom option was the main reason I'm trying this, it deff adds more weight to the bow.
  12. Here is my self filming contraption I drew up late last night, will see how she works. I t was this or drop $200 on a go pro, will try this first
  13. Normally I'm a great sleeper, but when I get myself excited about hunting in the am I sleep like crap. I feel like I didn't sleep actually. I'm hunting out of the stand my son picked out, seen a bunch of nice bucks and trail cam there has one of the biggest 6pts ive seen. Normally I'm 8pts or better but that guy might not get a pass.
  14. My week vacation just started!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go time starting in the am.
  15. The heat is on... 2nd shooter came by way outta range. He wasn't impressed with my calling attempts to lure him over
  16. I just jumped a doe and buck behind the new set my son picked, I had the widest rack I've ever seen, to bad he's at practice.
  17. Haha what a dink, someone who also has permission?
  18. Well we saw 3 small bucks and a bunch of doe. All 3 were chasing doe around. None came close but finally my son saw some action. Now if I can get him to the point of being quiet and just sitting still will be good.
  19. Ok were in the double stand my son picked this spot and we have doe already so I'm pumped. Just started a light drizzle.
  20. Just my luck, dropped my son off at practice, I ran out back to our hut and have 4 doe to right in front of me, I'm taking him tomorrow, hopefully they like my clover enough to come back

    BEAR!!!!

If your serious I will. Ive been taking my 8yr old with me a lot trying to get a deer with him. I doubt will see one but ill give it a go.
  22. I think they are alot tougher than people believe. I shot a nice buck a few yrs back during bow. I shot high right above any vitals. Had decent blood the first hundred or so yards then went cold. I had him on trail cam 9 days later and all you could see was the missing patch of hair above the shoulder. My brother shot a buck one gun season and while gutting it he got poked by a broad head in the ribcage. Again way tougher than people give them credit for.
