Well I tried. You can't answer my question, so I won't engage any longer. By the way, nobody who understands that CWD is a threat is discounting EHD. You keep bringing up this strawman argument and I don't know why. It's like saying the flu is a problem too in addition to covid. Both can be true. Good luck this season my friend.

I gotta ask. Does it feel a little weird in early september?

Any problem keeping a chest freezer and a …
Five Seasons replied to luberhill's topic in General Chit Chat
I had one in my garage down south. Still got pretty cold in the winter. My grandma has had one for years in hers. I have a minifridge in mine now. Never an issue. -
I brought up your business, because your business is being attacked and linked to CWD spread and also regulated as a result of it, which hurts your profits. It's like big tobacco lobbying the government against smoking restrictions or big oil lobbying against restricting fossil fuels. It wasn't to paint you in a bad light. I have never done that and haven't done that in this thread and you know it. I also don't know why you think everyone is so jealous of you my dude. A lot of us do just fine financially and do so without getting jizz on us. You do you and everyone else can enjoy their life too without being jealous. Now back to our discussion. Am I understanding it correctly that you will not accept any scientific articles from universities, states, feds etc? Any and all research that is ever done on ANYTHING relies on grant money. So your insistence that I find some organization that privately funded their research would either be A. Impossible or B. Very susceptible to industry bias, just like when big oil published a study showing that leaded gasoline was just fine. So last call, can I source these or not?

Ivermectin Study
Five Seasons replied to Shoots100's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
No I don't. If you want someone to believe what you're saying, it's helpful to back up why. For example. We could take medical advice from shoots100, who is a plumber or an accountant or something, or we could take it from a doctor. Your choice. I provided my credentials in an attempt to squash the conspiracy nonsense this guy is spewing in 2 separate threads now. To think he knows better than all doctors and all environmental scientists is really quite impressive don't you think? An interesting read https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/why-people-fall-for-conspiracy-theories/ -
Ivermectin Study

ahh so you're a Q guy? You could have just lead with that ya know? It's amazing that some of you believe that this was just a US problem, like no other country was dealing with covid. But yet the whole world which can never get along has somehow conspired secretly. got it. -
I'd be ok just bowhunting, but I think I have to buy my regular season to do that anyhow. Plus most of the money goes to conservation, plus the dems would take this as a double win.

Ivermectin Study
Five Seasons replied to Shoots100's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
yeah no, doesn't come across at all like we're all idiots and he knows the truth. -
You know I've been on here a long time and I've never been your foe. You've made many. Many don't like or agree with what you do, yet I've never said a single thing about it. But now you're making me your enemy without me even attacking your business? If you answer my question above, 3rd time i've asked. I'll give you all that you want.

what does joe biden have to do with CWD? I'm just asking if you will accept my university, state or federal literature as proof before I post it. If you say no, then I won't waste our time. If you say that you will, then I'll post it. Please don't bring Lets Go Brandon into this, it has nothing to do with US politics.
-
Are we not saying the same thing though? Do you supplement your penned in deer because big bodies sell or because big racks sell? If they need big bodies to grow big racks (and here we could have fun because I've seen some of the racks on some of the deer in pens vs what we all see in the wild) is the end result still not supplements for big racks? Even if big bodies come with it?
-
so just before I waste both of our time. You don't want any "white coat idiot" report? So I'm assuming if I link to any academic, state or federal study that you would refute that? Is there a source that isn't anecdotal that you would accept?

Official 2022 Fall Plots Thread
Five Seasons replied to Five Seasons's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
I'm wondering what I should do with my spring plot. I've mowed it twice now and after the rains it's super lush. Most of it is generally "tall weed" free. The weeds that I have aren't going to be touched by any sprays but a part of one of the plots has some decent queen anne's lace. Even at an 8+" mow I'm still clipping some chicory. I mowed a small section but not sure if I just leave it be or mow it again. some not so great pictures to try and demonstrate mowed vs unmowed -

have always disagreed with that quote. I think it's misused in the NE. Where it's not misused it short gun seasons like wisconsin or if you're on a trip for a week at an outfitter or out west. But in NY We have from 10/1 till 12/19ish to kill a couple bucks. If I see a nice 2.5 year old the morning of 10/1 he's getting a pass. He may likely not get a pass during gun if I still have 2 buck tags and he might get a pass again if I'm still buckless in December. I am usually able to put a doe or 2 in the freezer and I'll take what bucks I want, and when I want and not feel bad about what I passed or didn't. Hunting for me is an in the moment kind of thing and not a work procedure I plan to follow all season. -
Who said anything about nuts? I said brain and spinal fluid where the prion gathers. I'm not some idiot on CWD bud. And what has not happened in 60 years? My concern isn't the jump to humans, although that would pretty much mean an end to venison eating as we know it and terrifying, but the impact it would have on deer populations for which i like to hunt. generally speaking guys use mineral licks to grow bigger racks. You and I both know this, don't play dumb.
-
and that's not true at all. Wisconsin has tons of data showing herd impact. Are we going to start sourcing things or is this going to be a global warming fake kinda thing where we don't trust the science? For those not aware of your history, it's very important to note you incur expense and business risk from CWD, so you're clearly not impartial. I have no horse in the race as it's not an issue where I hunt (yet) and I don't make any money off selling deer.
-
They do know that at this time it has not made the jump and hasn't been found yet. There are records of tons of cwd positive deer being eaten without a problem. The question I'd have for you as a denier. If I were to grind up the brain and spinal fluid of a positive deer and mix it with some ground, would you eat it? jokes aside, just to clarify. licks aren't "feed" but supplements used to potentially grow bigger racks through nutrients, but not necessarily grow the size of the deer. The obvious debate is that if done legally or illegally, it's a way to draw in a buck for a shot. Licks were legal in Mississippi and I can promise you they aren't any silver bullet. I had one out for most of the season and it hardly ever got hit at all.
-
it's just a hypothetical.
-
You make some really good points. But CWD isn't a hoax man. I know you feel personally attacked here because of the attack on the captive cervid industry here. but there is not 60 years of proven fact that cwd doesn't exist.
