  1. again i agree. but it's still important when dealing with the law
  2. just speaking from a purely legal perspective. protection could mean protection from animals. rabid coons, bears, feral dogs. and Your property it is not. remember OJ went free. That's all you ever need to know about our justice system i think you've arrived at the best path forward regarding contacting the dec and asking advice from them, not us goofs
  3. again, because we're all talking dec and police... this isn't his property. it's a lease. and yes that does matter, especially with regards to how official the lease is.
  4. i think we all know what his intentions were, but you'll never prove he wasn't hunting... although it was a .22 so i dont know haha. carrying a rifle in the woods would be considered normal (dont many of us do it?). If he showed up to your door, that'd different. Again, we all know his intentions, but it's what you can prove that matters.
  5. interestingly i've talked to fellow hunters around our camp and not one seems to have an issue with anyone baiting a bear, but deer? oh man haha. So yeah I think it's common. I don't think many would lose their shit either, but I prefer to do things the right way. Currently I'm using a honey pot which is gray area in and of itself.
  6. i'm with you on this. i don't think i support the case of beer suggestion either. That said, I'm always one to see if I can resolve things peacefully first. The headache will never go away if it starts off on the wrong foot.
  7. A recent podcast on bear hunting I listened to got me thinking more about this. We all know that baiting bears is illegal in NY. Most of us know that most bears are taken by opportunistic hunters. Meaning, you're out deer hunting and a bear wanders by. That's not to say spot and stalk or tree stand bear hunting is impossible or doesn't happen, but I believe many of us would agree that it's the big horn hunting equivalent of the east. It's one of, if not the hardest types of hunts there is, heck NY gives you a free bear tag lol. Many states (take Arkansas for example) have not met their harvest quotas and recently remedied this by allowing baiting. With our bear population growing and spreading I'm wondering if there are any organizations out there pushing to change these laws or is it a fools errand? Is the biggest obstacle the fact that our fall bear hunt coincides with deer and regulating bear baiting vs deer would be impossible, or is it the animal rights groups? Or something else? thanks all
  8. true. but 27 isn't so bad...and he only needs 1 more himself to fill out one of his hands.
  9. bingo! you don't see many guys fighting over a fallow 10 acre field with no deer sign for a reason.
  10. then he wins and the behavior is rewarded. which makes you wonder if this isn't his first rodeo there's a dance with the landowner here too, and only fatboy knows the relationship. But if the lumber company now views this as a hassle they could raise the lease price to deal with the headache or just cancel the lease. tread carefully.
  11. i actually think the land entitlement thing is more a byproduct of boomers than it is millennial. A millennial most likely has on-x and agrees that he doesn't own the land and doesn't want conflict (haha). But a boomer has spent his whole life kind of hunting where he wants. There were a lot more farms and everybody just hunted. Then in the 90's QDM starts to take off and liability becomes an issue and there really isn't any open land anymore and these guys lose their shit when they lose their "free" access. Understandably they lose their shit. But there's a wrong way to lose your shit too.
  12. idk. 22 pointers and 600 pound bear with a ton of oaks? sounds like it's worth a lot of trouble to me haha
  13. companies hate it, but trump is the only one who seems to care. but then part of me is like "well thats what you get for building overseas in the first place"
  14. i think you're doing all the right things with signs and playing it cool, but I also agree that he was threatening you and you should document that now as it'll help you later. Sounds like he has had free reign in the past so this new lease of yours sucks for him. There's a funny thing we hunters do too. We own or lease like 40 acres and always put stands on the boundaries lol. It's a grass is greener mentality, when in fact that's often not the case at all. good luck
  15. except for the fact that the farm system he built is outplaying most teams. Teams would kill to have the problems the yankees have right now. Your big money guys are getting healthy, and you've got hot bats already in place. That's the GMs doing, not his fault. If sevirino can regain his early 18 magic, they will be just fine.
  16. their website says nothing about where they're made, which to me is a clear indication that they're not made in the USA, because if they were they'd be advertising the heck out of that. https://www.newarchery.com/about-us/
  17. i'm probably one more weekend away from the clothes prep, but i'm going for bear up north the last week of september so it's cutting it a little close.
  18. only if no points are awarded for bb's i'm kidding. geez.
  19. i stopped writing checks to NYB because of poor leadership. Y'all might want to consider doing the same.
  20. there's some Chinese dude scoping out your place right now. that right there is a pile of cash on the black market.
  21. i was excited for real football to be back and didn't have anyone nor did my opponent in fantasy last night... so that was a tough game to watch. real tough.
