you guys crack me up. me: Here are your choices huntingny: here are our answers "a bunch of non choices"

for run and gun it's a good length. Not my style either, but I also wouldn't go with a 20. For more traditional sit and call, the longer barrel is recommended for accuracy, but if you're looking to be more nimble in the woods then the shorter barrel and less weight is good.

My family and I are a pretty healthy bunch. Given that we have 3 boys 6 and under we're a good germ factory, but compared to most families I know we do good. Good for a few colds and bug or 2 a year and that's it. We all get our flu shots and I don't think I've had the REAL flu in like 20 years. Anyhow 2 friday's ago my oldest gets a fever and he's down for the day, then the younger 2 and they're down for a day. Monday night it hits me and the following night the wife. Man, let me tell you. I wasn't on my ass (thanks to the shot I believe) but man did it wipe me out. I could function and did work from home a little, but had the shakes, chills, aches and mucous in the lungs. Went to work thursday and friday after feeling better and then WHAM friday night it knocks me down again and I'm the couch all saturday. So it got the wife and I talking. Would you rather have the stomach bug where you're dead to the world and puking your brains out for 24 hours or feel like crap for a week (no puking, no thinking you're going to die)?

yeah I think that's what makes the daks difficult. And in a way, I think the same thing applies to deer. The area is super thick and vast, but the canopy is huge and there just isn't a ton of feed and obviously not really any orchards. With such a vast landscape I feel like I will just get lucky one day and that's about it. I still enjoy the early season up there as it's a good excuse to get away. But man I hope it's not 70* this year.

Any reason you think they use that run? Cover to food source? They’re just so different from deer I can’t wrap my mind around it. Then I do research and it’s all Canada or states with baiting... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

you can always make a dummy facebook account, but be aware that sellers may think you're suspicious if your account is new and doesn't have any pictures or real info about you.

there are more, but the land is more vast. So it's kind of like a wash. Without bait they're tough. Harder to pattern than deer, dont get all horny and run around during the season and you can't call them in like you can a turkey. I guess that's kind of what makes them awesome if you're successful.

i think you just need to eat less venison chili if you wake up to find your toilet on its side.

even as a proponent of the wall and a republican, I think this is the right move. We're not a dictatorship and even if we disagree with how the dems are treating this issue, you can't just bypass our checks and balances. Lets be honest with ourselves. He had 2 years to get this done with a house and senate majority and didn't. And lets be real honest, and let me remind you that I voted for the man. If he wasn't such a buffoon all the time with his mouth and just let his legislative actions speak for him, maybe he wouldn't have lost the house? Trends show that the president almost always loses a branch in midterms, but maybe... just maybe.

your basement looks just like mine haha

if i can kick this bug I plan to do some scouting this weekend. But this always reminds me that NY is about 2 to 3 weeks late in their opening day

Oh I know. But the rug... lol

i agree. anywhere where there is good bear hunting there is baiting allowed. I would guess a good amount of baiting occurs in NY anyhow, but admit i have no proof to back that up.

I'm in 5H, and happy to see that only one bear was killed in inlet, which is where I hunt and it was regular season, so probably a deer hunter. Makes me feel better about my lack of success. Yes there are a ton of public big woods there, but most of it is real difficult to hike and it's thick. Not a lot of browse either. Would be great if we could hunt the dumps haha.

I've been bear hunting in the daks for 2 seasons now and honestly both were crap as the temps were unseasonably high. Like in the 70's... I know that factors in for the northern zone. And without being able to bait I have to guess many a bear are then killed by deer hunters.

i used to spend a lot of time on OG when i first got into turkeys. Haven't had much time to go there lately. Around the time that they had a crash or something and lost a lot of data I sort of tuned out. Ole Bill a drama queen there too? exactly. these threads go as long as they do because we're bored.

Who is doing spring clover?
Five Seasons replied to Five Seasons's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
if you remember we had a very dry august and then a very wet fall. so my annual plot went in drier than i'd have wanted and then too wet. It's a shady spot and i planted a shady annual but the deer also destroyed it which makes me think i need a better base. heres the thread complete with pics i guess i'll have to read up on frost seeding. I'll only be doing a 1/4 plot and only have hand tools. -

so basically as soon as the ground is clear of snow is ok? Assuming it also needs to not be frozen? -
part of the reason for a forum is to have civil intelligent debates. They can obviously become spirited when members take firm stances on either side. Shooting a bb, ARs, crossbows etc all fall into that category. It is more than fine to talk through these topics, and more than ok for members to plead their side to fence sitters and the like. Heck, I've had plenty of my opinions changed by well informed and civil discussions on this site. So if you shoot a bb and post it up on here you're subject to a discussion. Where it's not ok in my opinion is when someone criticizes the hunter. There are plenty of civil ways to express your opinion without attacking someone. For example. "Congrats on the kill, here are some reasons we should try to let young bucks grow". It's not personal but sparks a conversation. Not ok, would be "did he have milk on his lips?", "baby killer", "what a slob" etc. And honestly my favorite statement of all, if you don't care for others opinions at all, it's very easy not to post about your deer. There are no rules on this board that require a member to post pictures or tell their stories. I know that I'm not alone on this site of members who have just stopped sharing some of their harvests. Because honestly it doesn't seem to benefit me and not sharing them doesn't make them not true.

Dang I knew I wasn’t late, but I guess I need to get my shi.. I mean seeds together. I’m hoping to get a good cover down so I can try annuals again in the fall Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I'm sure this is beaten to death, but my fall throw n grow annual didn't work out so well. Going to give this one spot one last shot with some clover. Any local mixtures that work best? I've had success in past years with imperial but it got plenty of sun. Wondering if it's even worth it in partial shade. When to start the work? It doesn't feel like it, but I seem to remember starting early spring last time i did it.

oh good lord. here come the defenders. The guy is replying to phade who isn't even talking to him. It's hilarious and I'm sorry that bothers you.
