  1. idk there's a good debate on .380's. I pocket carry my lcp probably more than any gun and I feel confident with its accuracy because I know statistically I will be close to my attacker. However, there is a very real thing called stopping power. SO, even if my hornady critical defense makes it through your thick winter leather coat, it still needs to provide enough KE to really put you down. Not kill you a few hours later in a hospital room. There are trade offs to every selection here, but some big bad dude on meth? There's a reason America loves the 12 gauge for home defense. Putting him down is the goal, not killing him but leaving enough energy for him to stab me a few times before he dies.
  2. people overvalue the .22 sometimes. listen, i love my ruger 10/22 but there are bigger calibers in some good guns that dont really kick either. just because it doesn't kick and it's quite doesn't mean it's the best gun out there. I bet all of you saying .22 wouldn't pick it if you're in a videogame type situation and had a few guns including some .223 in front of you and were knowing you needed it to defend yourself and put food in your belly. sorry, but you just wouldn't. and if you can't be just as close to accurate with a smaller caliber rifle like a .223 than you deserve to be eaten. oh and before you say it, in what world do the bad guys and wild life let you just line up for good easy head shots? there's a reason they teach 2 in the chest.
  3. what am i surviving? always amazed they dont use 22's on zombie shows. I haven't shot a ton of rifles but always liked the old m1 carbine as a good platform. good damage without a lot of kick. Next up would be the AK because you just can't kill it and when I shot a full auto one it was fun as hell.
  4. Is it possible to have any success at all at yote hunting without a lot of effort and gear. Say... for a friend who just wanted to get out of the house on a Saturday. Cheap mouth call that's easy to be effective with and not a lot of learning? Any times that don't require getting up real early? This "friend" has everything but the call and is lazy this time of year. What should I tell this lazy "friend"?
  5. we have to play the cheatriots first and only go to kc if they win and then they bee stealsburg. i hope we play the titans lol.
  6. ny regs aren't easy to understand and that's why there is confusion. You can absolutely, positively legally possess a loaded.22 in the woods during deer season. many small game animals are open. Heck you can hunt at night during deer season. the deal is that you cannot hunt deer at night or with a .22. I don't really think the weapon you're talking about makes sense as an investment, but you could absolutely bring it in the woods loaded and be fine 95% of the time. Now on the 1 in a billion chance you're stopped by the DEC, it would be up to that officer if he wasn't to ticket you. And if you have any squirrel or fox calls with you i bet you'd be just fine.
  7. I lost my mind. 34 years old, life long bills fan and i was in hs when they last were in. I'm honestly just happy we made the playoffs... in a rebuilding year no less. If we beat the jags that'd be cool, but i dont see us going any farther and i wont even be sad.
  8. your options are endless. I would highly recommend you start with a summer hiking trip though so you know what you're getting in to. definitely buy a good handheld gps and on the summer trip you can tag spots to come back to. I am very familiar with the old forge / raquet lake region if you end up there. do note, that while the daks are vast there are some areas that are just an absolute bitch to try and hike through. i have had my most fun canoeing to remote areas.
  9. some aftermath from our lobster, steak and booze (stay inside with family) affair
  10. Yeah she’s a workhorse. I don’t even cut up the meat all that much. You won’t have that pattern on your plate at first, but I’ll develop and you just want to keep using the same side with the same blade. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. It’s “drank” lol Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. This is what we do too. Usually crab but they’ve been crazy expensive for a while now Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. Also wonder if maybe you’re a victim of the gas station readers they’ve found in the area Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. Last Christmas someone bought 500 worth of stuff from bestbuy and did an in store pickup (within 15 min). They said it wasn’t their fault and to call the police. I told them that their website was hacked and their associate didn’t id the pickup and they said sorry. I’ve spent thousands there which they’d know just by looking at my rewards account and I told the idiot from India I wouldn’t be shopping there again. They didn’t care and I’ve remained true to that. Luckily Citi refunded me the purchase but the headache with my auto payments setup with the card makes me hate bestbuy even more. Lesson learned don’t store cards with retailers Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. You won’t be disappointed and you get a sausage stuffer too. It’s Keyed so you can’t really do it wrong but here are some pics. Note the first 2 pics show the plate and cutter mating. Keep each plate together with the same cutter for their life. Another tip that isn’t required but recommended is to freeze all the metal parts before grinding. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Surprised the directions weren’t clearer, mine stressed the hell out of this because it’s sort of counterintuitive that the blade faces away from the meat, but it helps keep the blade sharp as it presses agains the plate. You should keep each plate paired with its own plate and use the same side too. You will see after a few deer that it will leave its mark. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. Thought of this thread while watching Kingsman golden circle last night haha Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. You’re preaching to the choir here doc. I doubt many of us pro gun folks vote blue Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. But it’s scary because it’s black Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. I’d argue a 3.5 nanny doe from NY is the smartest deer on the planet Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. 30 like every other reasonable state Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Just being a smart ass Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Anyone think the deer will be moving Sunday in single digits. I think I’ll put my pack boots on and try to get one with the new crossbow I got for Christmas! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. names in the paper sucks... but $25? what a joke.
  25. people view bears differently until their car is ripped open or they're scared out of their pants as they hide in their tent as one stomps around the campfire. then it's kill it! kill it! it's a quantity thing, not a lot of bears and there are a lot of deer and pretty much everyone has hit one or had their garden ruined by them. people suck.
