  1. I know a lot of folks who feel some sort of negativity or pride with car payments and not having one. IDK, if you don't have any CC or student loan debt then hats off to you. But if you're avoiding a car payment out of principal but are carrying any sort of loan balance (especially credit cards) excluding a mortgage then you're not really understanding economics.
  2. there's nothing wrong with this approach if it's in your cards. There are often 0% financing deals if you're patient. Without getting into the nitty gritty economics of it all, I don't have any issue financing something at 0% apr.
  3. he had the highest rated cable news show for years. Fox news is a business. They're going to do what it takes to keep the guy on the air until the backlash is no longer worth it. If he wasn't who he was he probably would have been gone with the first one. When there's smoke there's fire. I'm more upset I don't get to look at Megan Kelly. That intelligence in that body? My gawd...
  4. Yes specifically trucks. If you don't know the owner, they could have been driven like a car. Or treated like a truck (see Jeremy's note below). Also the 75k mark is when things start needing to be replaced. so just a thought, and there are many misconceptions about leasing. But you can find some nice deals where you're paying ~$300 a month if you stay under 10k a year and with a little money down (maybe your truck as a trade in, you might be surprised what they give you). Now you have a truck for 3 years that's fully covered and in 3 years maybe you're in a spot to buy, or just keep leasing. Just thinking if you spend anywhere around or over $10k for a solid used truck and finance it, you might be at the same payment point. And after 3 years you're at 100k miles. So yeah after 3 you own it without a payment but you now have a truck with over 100k. I know some trucks that are babied and others that are treated just like you say. Heck my dad has an 01 Silverado with less than 100k on it and it's never seen a winter. not a spot of rust. only used for towing the boat, trips to camp and hunting. that would be a truck I would buy used. but it's a gamble.
  5. I'm a fox news guy... but you're upset he was fired for sexual harassment? That's a progressive problem? What if it was your daughter?
  6. I think we need to know your budget and use. Do you want to dd it and need some creature comforts or don't you care about that? All I will add that buying a used truck above 75k is a risky business. And I will add that I do just about all the work on my vehicles. There's something about a truck at that age (especially if exposed to salt) that sometimes makes the headache not worth it. You might fair better with a lease.
  7. no way was it better than season 1. I love the series and can't wait for season 3!
  8. how long do you put it on the smoker? or is there an internal temp you're going for?
  9. that's a bummer man, my place is loaded for the first time in years. The DEC is predicting a good year as well after a few good springs and mild winter. It's all about habitat with turkeys and they've finally let a few fields grow up. Probably why I see more fox now too lol.
  10. should be. My 835 was. I think almost all the modern synthetics are now. You'll still probably need a weaver mount though.
  11. haha that's exactly what I do. especially in the spring. just rake out the beds and grind it. It's actually good for your lawn if you can deal with a few weeks of some brown mixed in.
  12. sounds like the neighbor across the street from me... and I don't live in the country so it sticks out. Not to mention they don't rake so all their leaves and weed seeds end up in me and my neighbor's yards. I'm not a snob, but I do take pride in my place, we have decent landscaping and a nice yard that we put time into. His place is his own and I get that, but damn man at least hire some kids in the fall to rake it.
  13. dang I'm not shooting 50. Even with 3.5" hevi's and a pure gold choke and red dot designed to do so. Do you guys?
  14. That's a great gun. Let me know how you/her like the pistol grip. I could never get used to those or the thumbhole stocks. By the way, check your order status. I bought 2 boxes of hevi-13 to pickup in store that had to be ordered and never got the email they arrived. So they've been sitting there a week unbeknownst to me.
  15. I shoot hevi-13's so you don't have to convince me, but I hate the price. Only thing I would add to counter your post is that... the bird is dead. In the end, isn't that all that matters?
  16. Did my front yard yesterday afternoon after we got back from my parents and the Easter egg hunt. Weather was too good not to and after my early crabgrass preventer and fertilizer and not to mention the rain I really needed to. Back yard still doesn't need it, but it put a smile on my face. next couple weeks look like crap so I don't think i'll have to mow again anytime soon.
  17. but I don't want to get dirty. I want to talk about safe spaces. how much will you pay me for that?
  18. as hypocritical as it sounds I'd support an assistance program fro the trades. Not enough good plumbers, electricians, carpenters etc out there. I have a family friend who is now in her 6th year of school earning her doctorate in "Social Welfare". Her current job is siblings specialist at a family services group. Now don't get me wrong, we need these services in society. But do we need phd's? Do we need to pay for these phd's? That creates a vicious loop right there.
  19. I always used it. doesn't cost a ton and even if it's bs it was a nice feel good lol.
  20. I've had 2 houses with septics and never lived in them long enough to need a pump, but had to find the hatches on both anyhow because of the request to pump before sale. That said, 43 years seems like a long time. I do remember both companies want quite a bit more to dig the hole up themselves so I went probing haha.
  21. idk about that. You could not stay enrolled in UB with a GPA under 2.0. And honestly, passing is passing. I have a bunch of friends who goofed off and didn't pass. Even to get a 2.0 requires some focus.
  22. any misfit or partier would lose their credit and either repay or get kicked out. there is gpa requirements. I started rough at UB as an engineer. Never had to study in HS. I'm actually glad I wasn't in this program because I needed that freshman year to get my ass in gear. Having the pressure to maintain a gpa might have had the reverse affect on me. idk...
  23. I had all sorts of issues with my 03 silverado that i bought used with 113k miles on it. But honestly that's because I bought it used with 113k miles on it. And I don't think it was taken care of the way I take care of my rides. All I know is that my new girl with the LT and All-star has every creature comfort I want and nothing extra I don't. It's comfy, smooth and a champ at every task I've thrown at her. Only needed nerf bars and a tonneau cover.
  24. Oh I know. But I'm an engineer. I spec out just about about everything I buy, even a new vacuum. If I had a hand-me-down rifle sited in with a particular load I wouldn't think twice. But when you're buying new and have to start somewhere you have to pick. That is kind of what I was getting at. You're staring at 3 boxes of bullets on the shelf and have to pick one. yeah that was kind of my logic. idk...
