And most of the perfects just never post their failures. Learning from mistakes and getting advice is what a truly humble and learned man will do.

How does blood smell clean?

I didn't say anyone using a crossbow was lazy. He said people should use it because they are lazy. don't put words in my mouth. and to your second point... why have archery at all if there's "a chance" of wounding a deer. Why not just all rifle, all the time?
-
what's not to understand. he has very clearly stated that crossbows are good because people are lazy and they shouldn't have to work hard. It's the very reason this country is going to ****. people want things easier and quicker without having to work for it. I've said it a 100 times. My favorite deer harvest ever was a doe I shot with a mz on public land down south. The challenge was the greatest I've ever had. New area/season/deer behavior, pressured land, all by myself you name it. I have never felt so grateful and accomplished. It's an amazing feeling and when hard work pays off. I've shot plenty of doe on private land. I'm always happy, but this was different. For someone who doesn't understand this feeling, they'll never understand why we enjoy "challenge".

the point of going in before light is to get settled and let the woods quiet around you. getting down "even real quick" is just silly, and i think that's being nice.

for what it's worth, GE no longer owns appliances. Sold to Electrolux this year. So I don't think Imelt would give a hoot.

i'd worry anything other than that industrial grit tape wouldn't stick or would peel and eventually make a bigger hazard. As far as noise, i don think there's much to do to improve it. Summit knows i'ts a big deal and if they could make it quieter i believe they would.

I was speaking to hunting seasons in general. If I misread his comment then I apologize.

and that's why I stated it should be easier to use a crossbow if disabled. I do not agree with the current regs. It should be as simple as a doctors note and an age limit. Sure people will fake them, but by and large it'll help more than hurt. and I will continue to disagree about hunting seasons.
-
good idea. sometimes I do other stuff like jerky with my steaks though so maybe i'll do this on some and not all.

there has never been a fight by me or most archers for a simple and easy process to allow handicaped and disabled hunters to use the crossbow. my issue is that wolc believes god is backing the crossbow for those that are too lazy to learn the compound or recurve. Hunting was never solely intended to manage a herd. It held several purposes. Allowed outdoorsman to do something they love and created rules and regs so that all could enjoy it and it would not be abused. It allowed the management of populations, it brought in millions of dollars in license sales to help fund conservation programs, it brought jobs to companies selling and making hunting gear, firearms and archery equipment. there is not just 1 single reason that hunting seasons were created, and initially I guarantee herd management was not nearly the hot button it is today.

looks good man. we have the same crib for my youngest. we had this in our last house

I have no idea what that even means. But letting a company or corporation tell you that you're required to spend out of pocket money for the job is an OSHA violation in some instances, and also a tax issue with others. So you can be walked on if you want. I'll chose not to be.

Rage broadheads turned me into a believer today
Five Seasons replied to Hock3y24's topic in Bow Hunting
with a shelf life of maybe 2 years if packaged properly I believe my comment if perfectly just. Losing a deer because of a bad shot and having it waste is no different than not eating what's in your freezer. He explained his reason just fine and we moved on. -
Rage broadheads turned me into a believer today

welcome to huntingny.com where you have no idea the history between me and jjb. The friendly jab was between me and him. You can go back to fondling yourself to pics of Cait Jenner now and leave the grown men be. -
Sharing our deer... good one. If you want it bad enough you can make the time. I have a 3 year old a 9 month old and a full-time job and I get it done. I sacrifice other things in my life because I want it that bad. If you don't want it, you can wait till gun season and probably still do just fine. Assuming it's meat and not horns you're after right? Hard workers should be helping lazier folks out you say? Please kindly move to the side and cast your vote for Bernie Sanders. We are done here.

I would never upgrade a personal phone for work. If your work requires you to have a smart phone they should pay for it or deal with what you have. I haven't paid a smartphone bill in over 8 years. Going back to the days of my trackball blackberry. Tell your daughter to ask for what she deserves.

How Many 5.5 Year Old Bucks Have You Killed? (and older)
Five Seasons replied to Lawdwaz's topic in Deer Hunting
you got hosed on that rack. nothing to bat an eye at for sure, but for a 5.5, i'd expect more. -
out of 200k license sales every year, there is no inference you can make off this site alone. heck, i bet most guys don't admit to missing. I know others who don't post their kills either.

I'm not sure it is a problem. We don't have any data on wounded archery deer as far as I know. I do recall some studies done in the past that actually showed the opposite. It showed more deer were wounded by gun hunters than archery. This was a while back when archery hunters were put in the spotlight by antis. fact is, you can lose a deer with any weapon. Even the best and most ethical hunter will lose deer. It's a shitty part of our sport. Personally, I believe archers are generally more dedicated passionate hunters given the time and money it takes to be successful at it. What do we do about the guys spraying shells at running deer on deer drives?
-
then we as a group need to continue to pressure against those who don't put in the time. Self policing is the best thing we as hunters can do. Everytime we shrug off a hunter's poor ethics and training we fuel the fire for anti's, we fuel the fire for more asinine DEC rules and regs. If you know of family or friends who don't put in the effort they should to bow hunt you need to let them hear it. At the end of the day, we cannot change the actions of others (any married person knows this), however we can do our best to influence them. It needs to be unpopular and socially unacceptable to enter the woods with the stick and string unprepared.
