  1. I disagree. We've shot some donkeys in my family. Very mature and anything over 135 is a well fed donkey of a breeder in NY.
  2. Well she's certainly bigger than your buck 125 lb. doe dressed is a nice doe and she easily be 2.5.
  3. The weight reduction in a rifle over my browning gold semi is worth it alone haha
  4. Only every 30 min or so. Or grunt if a buck looks to be leaving. Never seems to work well but at least I feel like I'm doing something other than just sitting there
  5. Went to the one in Webster and eastview and both were out of the hornady whitetail in 30-06 I was looking for. Got a sweat Syracuse hoody that was $20 marked down from $60. Wife put me the poor house on under armor workout gear.Other deal I missed was a 3.5-10 40mm Leopold vx3 for $299 after rebate at cabelas. Sold out...
  6. Largest bodied spike I've ever seen followed by a basket 6 with great potential just gave me bow shots. Good morning sit
  7. My cva optima is sited in at 100 and that's probably the longest shot I have where I hunt. I'd shoot out to 150 comfortably with 100 powder and my shockwaves. Aiming maybe 3" high
  8. I put in like an 1/8 acre clover plot surrounded by old apples. Trimmed the apple trees and got some sun back in the area by dropping a few maples (bonus firewood) and had hundreds of pics of deer and turkey coming in to feed on clover and apples. It's important to note the surrounding area was heavily pressured and this was a good little sanctuary, but with a little work it got much better. The surrounding area also cut corn early. I'd say avoid plots if you have large competing food sources
  9. The key is not size it's quality. The right 20 acres can be far more valuable than a big stretch with poor habitat.
  10. I literally just laughed louder than I should have in the stand. Funniest post ice read in a while.
  11. You'll probably hate it then. I can understand not trying smoking, alcohol or drugs... But not even a sip?
  12. A little warmer than I'd like in 8f and a pretty decent wind out of the south. Normally this is a 7j tradition hunt, but it's my last chance at horns before heading back south on Saturday. No matter what happens it was a good trip home. Second biggest buck of my life just toying with me outside of bow range and good action with 2 doe in the freezer on opening day. However the rut is just about to kick off down south so my season has just begun.
  13. Usually the little balls are coagulated blood vessels and totally normal. There's a better technical explanation I just can't remember it. Haha.
  14. My doe harvest. It just like stops working. Never had this problem before Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. Looks like dicks has a good deal on the savage xp. $200. Last year scent lok had 50% off everything. Post your good gun/ammo/hunting finds here.
  16. Tried 6 times tonight to report harvest and it keeps crapping out
  17. Caught myself pondering this walking into the woods. I like to scan the ground heavily for sign. But it's also good to keep the eyes ahead, especially in the afternoon. What's your style?
  18. No merino wool and switched out fleece balaclava for savanna. Mid weight gloves in 8f. This wether is crazy
  19. Strongly recommend the limbsaver recoil pad. Did wonders on my 835 with 3.5" turkey mags
  20. Wasn't directed at you. Just a few of the others who posted
  21. Some of you need to bow hunt more. You have such a better understanding of deer even when they don't come in range. It wasn't till I started bow hunting that I saw chasing, fighting, bucks with their tails tucked between their legs, doe looking over their shoulder, doe blowing at bucks, bucks actually herding doe back into cover to breed, scrape making etc. It's rare to see any of this when the guns go off. You really have to understand how deer work to be successful.
  22. Like I said, if you're content with that then that's cool. But I can't count the times I've heard hunters whine about only seeing doe and shooting the first one they see.
