  1. Stopped doing drives a while ago, but they are fun. Not my style, but do agree that maybe at least wait a day or so. I honestly don't see a dead buck killed on a drive being anywhere near that of a bow buck. Should be noted a lot of deer are running on drives. Low percentage shots and wounding of brown it's down is frustrating Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. I don't think it's having a tough time, just a sadness it's gone. Like others have said, I cut my teeth on gun, many great memories of friends and family. More of a social time for me. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. Bahaha that's a first for autocorrect Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. Most will wait in anticipation of a buck on a does heals. I know a lot of meat hunters who also bitch about not seeing bucks, but always blast the first doe they see. As long as you don't bitch about not seeing bucks than I'm ok with what you do. More of my bucks have come on the heals of doe than not.
  5. I've been here a while. Besides Doc there isn't a bigger leg humper or archery than me.
  6. Tough story man. Read too many like it. Lot of guys lose rights being unable to control themselves. How'd he lose his other spot?
  7. All depends on the land but it does seem high for only a few weeks and assuming you don't have stands. Probably fair for a whole year if it's good
  8. Reminded why I dislike gun season so much. Nothing's moving natural. Just not as enjoyable at all
  9. First time for me was this year and because I have a narrow window and needed meat. In the past I'd wait for mz, but the new regs really don't entice you to go out in the cold for doe only.
  10. That's a good friend. Sounds a little like you shot before you had a plan.
  11. Freezers full again. Opening day double. 20 seconds apart. 7j
  12. Very opinionated topic of corse. I for one am thankful for every deer and respect the life that's lost. Do my best to recover as much meat, take high percentage shits and help track wounded deer. I like good clean tasteful pics and humble hunters. I'm not sure 30 years ago I'd be any different, but fact is we live in a different world. You may not like it, but need to accept it.
  13. Crazy snow in 8f. Love when it's on the ground. Not so much when it's coming diwn
  14. Sunset has passed and I can see just fine and apparently so can a bunch of others
  15. Not picky but drink 3 cups every morning
  16. Agreed. Just doesn't always work out that way due to time. So if anything waits to be done it's usually the grind. Not preferred but taste just the same to me.
  17. Sounds like a good hunt. I try to keep all my stuff in my pack so I don't forget things. Opening day and no grunter would suck and we've all been there. Once I forgot my release opening weekend of archery haha. Seems after the first hunt everything is g2g.
  18. I'm not against neck shots, just not a fan personally. Your last point though is interesting. I believe in repetition. Aim for that spot behind the shoulder every time and the habit forms and avoid thinking about where to shoot. Fwiw, you lose 0 meat with a double lung unless you eat ribs which is rare.
  19. That won't stop deer. But I'll admit after I moved south I was amazed at how much kinder people were. NY is not lacking of d-bags
  20. Man it shut down in 7j. No shots since like 9. Lots of movement until like 11:30. Got down and gutted the doe. Waiting for something with horns buts eerily calm and no shooting
  21. Several years ago I made a poor shotgun hit on a buck. Blew off both front feet about a foot above the hooves. That thing still tried running on its stumps. A much better follow up shot ended him. I felt bad but it was crazy. He literally had dirt on his exposed bone.
